I think Pipkins should be dropped...maybe, run him through camp and decide how much of his play was Staley and how much better is he with the new crew...but likely drop him as he is remnants of a failed line
Competition at guard through training camp, with injury protection as well. See how the new staff feels about Sawyer and McFadden as swing tackles. Then reevaluate the group, and see if Pipkins has more trade value than roster value.

I think Johnson, Salyer, and McFadden should all be tested at center during camp. They are all talented, and young. If one can slide into the center position then it would make this oline extremely resilient with position flexibility.

I would keep pipkins because having any depth at OL is necessary. He’s still growing as a pass blocker and I think he can learn from the awesome coaches we have right now

Of course we keep him! We need depth if we’re going to make a run for the playoffs. I’d only trade him for a grade A center and who knows maybe he can play center! It’s time to lose the Telesco/Staley mindset and embrace the fact that we are going to bully the opposing teams from now on and realize the best defense is an outstanding offense! No prima Donna’s who won’t block at any position needed.

I don't see Hortiz keeping Pipkins around long-term either, and will probably find a way to get trade/draft capital for him. I agree that despite being an underwhelming player, many teams have a need at O-line, especially at tackle.

Keep him as a backup. He was a telesco pick that solved nothing. Yes trey did improve dont get me wrong, but he is not the guy we wanted him to be so after this contract is up, he can walk while resigning Slater because Slater is leagues better than pipkins by a wide margin

Jamaree wasn't good enough last year to not have competition at the RG spot. If he is replaced by Pipkins, it's because Pip took the RG job. I don't think his contract should matter for play time though it's a sunk cost and he's still a valuable swing tackle.

The offensive line needs to be tough in the middle, we should keep Joe Alt at left tackle & maybe move Rashawn Slater to center. I think Rashawn Slater is strong & smart enough to block Chiefs all-pro defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Pipkins is more valuable than you think. You need guys in case of injury so you need pipkins. Although he is the second highest-paid player on offense....and he doesn't get paid compared to others in the league at that position. Depth is needed.
