I had no idea how much Adam actually has in common with me. I'm not exactly 6'6" but, I'm 6'3, have lower back pain that I work through the best I can and I've had Crohn's since I was 16. I'm 37 now. You two inspire me to reflect and improve on my own physical potential. I've permanently checked the worst of my Crohn's and trying to get whatever health I have left after years of the ravages and some of the Crohn's manifestations I still have to be the best I can. Thank you guys for sharing health details with us to allow me realize I have a chance at a higher potential. My strength is mainly walking trails a long distance where I live whenever I can. When I went to Yosemite this Spring at least I was able to out pace my family on the Valley Loop Trail. Shortly after that I discovered your channel. You guys throwing in that little "Crohn's Attack" detail really meant a lot and very helpful to know. You guys are so real and you're the best. Thank you! :) Happy Thanksgiving.
Corey I've had it since I was 16 too! I'm so happy that mentioning it is helpful for you. Of course it is a deficit for us physically, but if you think about how much stronger it's made us mentally, especially surviving those late teens and early twenties when Crohn's is truly devastating, there have been benefits too, right? I would argue that it might even be a net help to my climbing due to enhancing things like grit and determination. I hope it will be that way for you as well. So glad that you found us, and feel free to ask questions about it in the future. And Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
@@gridirontrenches5010 I carry some prednisone with me on overnights, so if the small intestine completely closes up and I can't keep down water (that's the biggest danger with the kind of Crohn's I have) then I can take the prednisone and hopefully reduce the swelling enough to hydrate. If it happens on a day hike, I just have to stay cool and get myself down ASAP.
I think I earn a bravery award for the fact that I (afraid of heights) watch all your videos from the beginning till the end in full screen ... But more seriously: thanks for taking us on these adventures. Absolutely one of of my most favorite channels.
Haha that is great to hear, and we're stoked that you're watching these on a big screen. We've still only ever seen them on our computer screens, but one day we want to see one on a big screen!! ❤️
Props to you guys for dealing with issues while still doing what you love. You've shown us beautiful places that we may never get to see. Keep truckin, Adam and Elise. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I'm thankful for both of you, because while I'm at home during the daily grind, I still get to vicariously experience some of these hikes with two amazing people.
Thanks very much, Shane -- that means a lot to us, because you know we thrive on the motivation of bringing these adventures to you guys during times when you can't get out there yourselves. Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
Same like Shane: we audience get to take part in beautiful adventures and company - without sweat, without budget, and without risk even. It's so comforting to see and listen to you guys. I am happy and grateful you are doing so nice things and share them, which is meaningful because it's inspiring, motivating. Wishing everyone health and peace.
Thank you, and sure -- we're wearing La Sportiva TX4 approach shoes in this one. That's pretty much our go-to whenever there's intense rock scrambling and especially granite slabs involved. ❤️
The lake still blows mind watching that LA County Fiasco since 2009. Water in it. Other side Mammoth Pool ripping. Kern and San Joaquin too. King. Amazing stuff. Taboose has a cascade that had to be really cool this year. Backdrop on this video is stunning. Panos.
I am just missing that blue winter sky. Independence Lone Pine and 5 more. Welcome to Sierra Nevadas. Love Lone Pine for winter stuff and camping. It's Suburu Sprinter Van central now but still awesome.
Another awesome adventure! Your attitude is infectious. A good metaphor for life in general when facing hardships. The poles will now be taken on every hike in the future, no matter what.
It's always nice to see you two in interaction, like two sides of one coin. You guys are so fortunate to have found each other. I had somebody like that once and all things pass so it's okay but I look at you two and see two people blessed because you found each other. It makes me happy to see.
Thank you, that is really lovely to hear. It means a lot to us, and we're very thankful for those kind sentiments. Hope you're having a lovely Thanksgiving! ❤️
Haha ya it was definitely not looking great there for a while, but very glad that I stuck with it because the ridge and summit were spectacular. Happy Thanksgiving! --A
What a great day to give thanks to such a great couple, a great channel and definitely some of the best darn adventures on the internet. What perseverance you show through everything you do here. Thanks for your hard work and dedication in bringing us along! Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
you guys are one a different level. that looks so dangerous. sand, snow and steep wet rocks.you're lucky to have each other for motivation and company. pretty awesome adventures, thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks so much! Yes we really are lucky to have a partner that shares a love for this kind of thing. It was definitely a bit more than we bargained for on this one, but definitely glad we did it. It’s a peak we’ve been looking at for years and always wondered what it’s like on top!
Thanks very much, John -- so glad you enjoyed it! Yes the scree ascent was awful, and if we ever do this again we'll take a full day and go around the far end by Robinson Lake where apparently there's less scree and then a full long ridge traverse -- much more our preferred style! ❤️
Brilliant views from the top, almost makes that horrible scree seem worthwhile. Almost. Congrats to the two of you and Adam especially for persevering while in the opening throes of a Crohn's flare up. That's bad-ass!
Thanks very much! Yes it turned out to be a lot more challenging than we bargained for, but in retrospect still very glad we did it. I spent the next few days in bed, and it was nice to be able to look back on that summit both figuratively and also literally as we edited the footage. -- A
This was fantastic, as always! Adam, I truly feel for you as I've battled rheumatoid arthritis for 11 years now - with a suspicion of Chrohn's also. Without medication, I'd be with constant joint pain, and even with it I still have some flares. It's the primary reason I no longer do what you are doing, so I'm also so thankful for both of you that I can still experience these things through your eyes! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your family! You are definitely a part of mine, and love you both!
We feel the same about you, Jeff! Really grateful for all your encouragement and support over the years, with many years left to come. So sorry to hear about your RA -- it is very similar to Crohn's in some ways with all the inflammation and joint pain. Hope you're able to at least mostly control it with Humira or some such! And as always, super happy and proud to bring you along on these adventures for as long as we're able to do them! ❤️
Great job pushing through and making the best. Quite the scree field, even with a pole I need to side step up loose stuff with my feet sideways and use careful weight distribution, but not fun. 10:21 epic shot of the day!
Thank you for a great thanksgiving gift, I was cheering for you and you did make it to the peak, awesome views, thank guys and happy Thanksgiving love your hiking videos keep them coming.. definitely you have a awesome side kick and I'm sure blessed to have her as your life partner...stay safe..
Thanks very much -- it's often the thought of you guys pulling for us that gets us through tough days like this one, and I really appreciate it. Very glad you enjoyed, and ya I was definitely giving thanks for Elise today! -- A
Thanks Catherine! It really did turn out to be cool, especially that excellent ridge line. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well -- we're always very grateful for your positivity and support! ❤️
Haha it's our pleasure, Andrea! We really do feel blessed to be able to do climbs like this, and don't worry we will always keep it safe and never try anything we're not confident we can handle. ❤️
Wow! that was one impossible climb ... Yet you guys did it, despite the shifting sands, and ragged ridge-lines. I'm thankful you two do what you do, and then take the time to it with everyone else. More courageous caring souls we would be hard-pressed to find. Once again, you've made my day. Wishing you all the best.
Love you guys. That was almost a little too real! I know you are alway worried that the camera doesn’t show the steepness and the difficulty, but it sure did in this video. We have a family cabin in Kings Canyon NP,. My grandfather bought the lots in 1921 near Grant Grove and we spend a couple of weeks there every summer even though we live in Oregon. So we are definitley into the Sierras. Thank you so much for being such real and loving people. Happy Thanksgiving to you. Patrick
Thanks Patrick! How awesome that you guys go to Kings every year!! We were there last year, and will probably go this summer too. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! ❤️
Just got back a half hour ago from Onion. Great video. Was just looking at that peak from the parking lot. Thought to myself it was to late in the year. You two proved that wrong. Thanks Chin up!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you both! What crazy hike, I with you on using poles. It saves my knees, I collapse them and stow them in my backpack for scrabbling. Keep having fun!
Thanks James! Ya that 2000 feet of scree sucked, but the granite ridge line and summit definitely made the whole thing worth it. Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
Yes! Even when you think you won't need them, there will be someplace where you wish you had them. That's the last time I don't bring them on a hike. Happy Thanksgiving! --A
Another great Sierra scramble! I need to go there myself one day. I love surfing rubble fields downwards, but on the way up I am trying to find a less steep zig zag line, always looking for the biggest stones sticking out. You two deserve oneself in the most positive sense. Keep on rocking 😀
Thanks very much, Hermann. Yes you must come to the Sierra one day because you will love the wide variety of different hikes and climbs, and all of them beautiful! ❤️
Thank you very much, that is great to hear -- we really love taking you guys to places you might not otherwise see! And don't worry, we are training very hard in the climbing gym to make sure we have the skills to handle all of these climbs safely. I will for sure make sure that E sees this comment that she is lucky too! ❤️ --A
i have hiked to Lone Pine Lake and thats a real trail, i thought was hard. I also thought rappelling into a mine shaft on ropes was insane, but this hike tops the list. You are truly great adventure seekers.
Thanks very much! We love that Lone Pine Lake hike, btw -- it's one of our favorite lakes, and we love to hike up there and swim and hang out when we're acclimating for a 14er! ❤️
Nice one Adam, you pushed through the climb even though it was the opposite of your style and a really hard climb for you! Nice one mate glad you didn't turn back and managed to summit it. :)
Thanks very much. Yes I was surprised by how hard this terrain was for me without poles, but glad we pushed through in the end because that ridge line and summit were fantastic! --A
Happy Thanksgiving guys, man I love the area you have been visiting lately, also saw small glimpse of that “unnamed lake”, I’m thankful you take us on all these awesome adventures!!!
Thanks John -- ya it was so cool to see the lake from up there! Really happy you like this area too. We have a lot of places we love, but the Onion Valley hikes are probably our favorite. Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
Helloooo from Palm Springs!! Very awesome!! Whoooaaa...such beauty!! I took my wife and son out to Joshua Tree National Park yesterday. We only did some light walking out to Heart Rock. And then a stop at Hadley's, up on the Cabazon pass, to get some date shakes!! Happy Thanksgiving to you two!! Thank you for what you do for all of us!!
Alan! We're loving Palm Springs with the whole family right now! Awesome you went to J-Tree yesterday (and Hadley's) -- we're going to J-Tree tomorrow and taking my parents and the whole crew! It's been pretty chaotic so far, but if we are able to stay an extra day after they leave we'll reach out and see if you can grab coffee or something. ❤️ --E
@@LiveHardxLoveHard hiya…well hard to believe, but two weeks back my island was hit by Hurricane force winds and a tornado…we are in recovery here, so many trees snapped in half, houses wrecked, awful….our winters are just, cold, wet and windy…..but spring to the fall, well it’s fantastic …enjoy your adventures both of you x
@@LiveHardxLoveHard thank you….we are a resilient lot on Jersey…..look forward to seeing more of your incredible adventures…stunning scenery…one day my wife and I will take a long trip around the real wild parts of the USA…cheers guys x
Where did all the snow go? 😅 It may be like 2012. None. 2015 too. I took the snow chains off the backhoe in Yosemite Valley. January. Drove from Oakhurst into park daily, no snow. Zilch. January we were up on Whitney Trailcrest nothing but Sunshine. In T shirts. Yep.
Nice to see this video. Much determination to do this hike! Better than watching football for sure. Elise is really amazing that she would be willing to do this stuff. Keep happy. Thanks for sharing.
We're doing great, Carl, and hope you are too! Yes that part of the Sierra is incredible this time of year -- hopefully we can get up there a couple more times before the snowstorms shut us out! ❤️
What an incredible climb! I always look forward to your adventures, but this on really hit home. As someone who suffers from UC, I've often worried in planning adventures due to the unpredictability of this disease. You both have been such an inspiration, but now it's on a whole new level. Thank you for sharing and showing that you can truly preservere through the toughest circumstances! I feel a new sense of motivation. You guys are amazing! 🫶🏼
Thanks so much, Neyda! I'm sorry to hear you have UC and I sure do understand about the unpredictability of planning adventures. But as you can see from all the stuff we do, it can definitely be done. There are a few specific things I do (like bringing prednisone on any adventure longer than a few hours just in case of obstruction) and then there are other contingencies as well. If you like, perhaps we can do a video in the future about planning adventures when dealing with injury or long-term illness. Meanwhile, SO psyched that this makes you feel motivated! ❤️ --A
That would be amazing if you guys did! I feel it would be incredibly helpful in learning how you navigate through this "invisible illness," while doing these epic hikes! Super grateful to see this representation 🫶🏼
Such a great peak. Shorter approach than Tyndall. But you are now stuck with Tyndall/Williamson/Panoramic/and Junction area. Another one like this is Kearsarge. Stop on pavement go right up the ridge. Bam. Wheeler Ridge Traverse. Ritter. Go North. 😅😂❤ So proud of you two. Killing it. ESPECIALLY RUSSELL it is the one. Epic views camera cannot touch the reality of it.
Thanks Dan, and you're totally right about Russell. We tried so many different camera angles, but there's really no way to capture how epic it is up there in person. Already excited to go back and do it again just to be up there and see it all!! ❤️
what shoes do you guys wear? I used to like the 5.10 camp 4, or guide tennie, or some sticky rubber compound. sometimes I would even put a pair of comfy climbing shoes in my pack to do the more technical bits. I also would bring like 20 feet of cordage to raise and lower packs. Sometimes webbing to do short rappels, Sometimes 60 feet of 9mm rope to get one out of a jam. My favorite in the sierra is the west ridge of mt. conness. NOrth ridge is fun too. more solid. Oh, and Mt. Humphries above Bishop is epic! Its more solid than IP. And of course, Yosemite Valley has some good exposed hikes. And you guys should go back to sedona. There are some good ridge scrambles. Maybe in april/may of 2024 I'll get to sedona? WOuld have to show you the secret stuff. Oh then there is grand canyon day trips off the south rim. Then there is Zion. Have fun. peace
Those are some great Sierra suggestions -- really wanna do Humphries! We're currently wearing the La Sportiva TX4 approach shoes and loving them. We also often bring 50-100 feet of 6mm rope for just in case jams! ❤️
Wow, that was a lot more to see than I expected from this video! Sorry that you've had to endure so much, Adam! But yeah, your wide angle cameras are not doing justice to these climbs... sometimes it's hysteric to see how you are almost crawling on something that looks barely sloping on footage, while in reality I imagine it being a 30 degree slope. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving! And thank you for taking us on your adventures!
Thanks very much -- glad you enjoyed this one! Yes it is very frustrating that some of the really steep parts look so flat, but we figure you guys have seen enough of these now that you can pretty much make the corrections in your heads for how steep it actually is! Thanksgiving was amazing -- huge delicious dinner with the family. Hope yours was too! ❤️
Loved seeing Kearsarge Pass from this vantage point. The “poles” debacle made for some endearing Puss n’ Boots moments (“love me”) from Elise and a really poignant realization from Adam to the camera that he can’t let even the greatest love of his life throw him out of his game. You deserve a recovery day or two.
Thanks. Grant! Yes we did take some recovery time after, and it was super nice to be able to think back on that summit while doing so. Totally agree about the different vantage points -- this area is just the best. ❤️
what an incredible valley n peaks... fearless,,,no anxiety ,,,the whole place to yourself n no one anywhere,,,,,,do u ever camp overnight in these places ? stay safe... all the best ,,
Thanks, and that's a great question. We do sometimes camp, and we're looking to get into doing more overnights next summer so we can reach some of the more distant Sierra peaks. ❤️
Rock'en the 3/4 Pants, that's my favorite! I rock the Fizan ultra light poles, I always take them, if you need a new pair they are AWESOME.5.6 OZS they are in a bunch of my videos, on Sleeping Sexton you can see how I attach'em. They come with a little nylon clip they snap into for quick stowing in the Gnar, LOL! Great to use on scree skiing too but risky, to break'em. . .
Happy Thanksgiving to you both. As usual scary but satisfying watch 😁. We are getting first snow in our valley in Gruyere. Looking at you and your sunny adventure it feels almost surreal.
Thanks Anna! Bet the snow is lovely over there. We just got a big snow in the Sierra this week too, so we can still do some desert adventures in the sun but it looks like our next Sierra one will be with snowshoes! ❤️
Adam! Sooo sorry you have Chron’s! Hope treatment is effective! And the climb! You’re right! That’s not class 3 on the summit pyramid; that’s 4 in places for sure! You guys are, as I always say, remarkable in your abilities! Well done on this one! I could’ve done okay on the sand with poles. The class 3 and 4-nope! For an 11,700+ peak it’s pretty gnarly! I love the view (though brief) of 14,381 ft. Mt Williamson and East and West Horn! Elise, I’m starting your piece (finally!). Adam, hope all’s well and you’re enjoying the post-holiday weekend! 🌲🏔🎼🎹🥰❤️
Thanks very much, Michael -- I'm feeling much better after a few days of bland liquid diet, and was able to enjoy our Thanksgiving feast! Ya I agree, there were def some class four sections on that ridge line. Williamson is another of those like Independence that we keep seeing, and know we're going to need to ascend at some point. Probably this summer! E is stoked for the piece!! --A
Hi, guys! Glad you’re doing well, Adam! Re: Williamson… I know you will plan it well, but the George Creek, I’m told by a close friend, is a booger-bear! The easiest way is via Shepard Pass and Helen Lake. The advantage there is you could do Tyndall Peak to. Of course it would require a 3-3 day backpack! Oh, and you could bag Mt Keith too from there! It’s 13,980+ ft. But of course you guys have to do The Black Kaweah first! 😁! 🥰💕🎹🎶
It's our pleasure to share! Sometimes hikes are recommended to us or we find them online, but very often we just see an awesome looking peak/ridge, figure out what it is from GPS, and then start researching if we can climb it! We actually just did a deep-dive members video on that exact issue of how we choose climbs, and we're thinking about a Q and A for the channel this winter where we'll try to address that as well! ❤️
Looks like beautiful views from up there. Have often looked at Independence Peak and wondered about climbing it. If it's like what you went through, I think I'll have to pass.
Mickey we were exactly the same! We'd seen it so many times from Independence and thought it would be an awesome climb, and the ridge line really was awesome but the scree was tough. But if you want to do it, just make sure to bring poles! 😂
Thanks very much, Andrew! Sorry to hear you also suffer from Crohn's but rest assured that it need not prevent mountain climbing (unless of course you're in the middle of a bad attack!) -- it just makes it more complicated and more challenging at times, but the challenge is part of the triumph! Feel free to ask me questions about it in the future. I'm always happy to share what I've learned after a few decades of dealing with Crohn's and challenging physical endeavors. --A
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thanks - really appreciate that. I do manage to do most of the outdoor stuff that I love and after a couple of decades myself I’ve got pretty good at managing it. For some reason I particularly struggle with a whole day of hiking but I’m working on a few things that are helping
Actually we're not sure -- there was a pretty big single day storm that came through about 3 days after we did this, and we don't know exactly how much snow it dropped. We might try to go up this coming weekend and find out, though, so stay tuned! Meanwhile, if you want to come for this weekend call the Inyo Ranger's Station and ask them about the conditions. They probably have the best updates for now. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Yeah, I did call Inyo but they always discourage hiking out of safety concerns. We have winter backcountry expereince and don't mind a bit of snow, but flying in from the east coast we are just looking for a good window to jump on the trail before the serious snow starts. Any updates would be good.
Thanks Rich! Ya that summit definitely did not disappoint. We probably shot about 30-45 minutes of footage on this one, and ultimately used somewhere between half and a third of it. That's pretty typical. The editing process generally takes about a day (8 hours) when you factor in sound and everything, and we often spread it over several days either after or before work. ❤️
I did Independence back in August and that scree climb is no joke! Perhaps the most exhausting short climb I’ve ever done, and I had one pole. The ridge took some figuring out and I had to back out of a few class 4 routes before finding a less exposed class 3. I think I took a similar route to you guys, but I wonder if coming from the lake would have been better.
We were wondering the same thing, and pretty sure it would have been better coming from Robinson. We're thinking less scree and more ridge line. We only had a half day so didn't have time to do it that way, but might try it in the summer with a lake plunge after! Glad to hear you say the ridge had class 4, because we felt exactly the same way. It felt dicier than class 3 in at least two or three places, which is fine but was def a bit of a surprise. Anyway, big congrats to you on a hella hard short climb! ❤️
5:45 - Fitting into Honda Civics and hiking up particularly steep loose gravel... The woes of tall people. hehe. I thought this was a cool part to include in the video.
Haha yes that is well said 😂. I have a friend who owns a Ferrari, and he once told me I could drive it. I tried to get in and could literally not fit in the driver's seat! --A
Yes John! It was honestly one of the coolest 360s we've done, because that summit was just so prominent above everything else. Definitely worth it in the end. ❤️
Kearsarge is way easier but still incredible. And you park at the ridge on the road pullout. I didn't even know this was Independence Peak. That is the creek that took out a mile of dirt and wiped out the road to Shepherd pass TH. should be fixed by now. If you go up the creek. Then jump up left of creek it is the bowl on Independence side. I like the going to opposite peaks. So the view of Kearsarge and University and Keith Gould Dragon Williamson is stunning. STUNNING. Tyndall? Now Kearsarge Peak is literally the same except better because you are above Golden Trout and looking down into Onion Valley. Bam. IF FROM WAY OUT OF TOWN you do Kearsarge Pass and Mono Pass (Tom's Place) one not Yosemite TH. Because they are 6 and 4 miles in. SHORT. As for Peak I will always go with Gould. Because it's huge and right at Kearsarge Pass. Literally 1200 feet higher. 14k I am doing Tyndall. Because it is badass viewpoint. Camping at Shepherd pass by the lake. ☕️ on top of Polychrome. Video blog vs Reality and time management. Do not pay to camp. Drive into town Independence Park. Chill. Or pay and do by creek right outside of town. Bam. Warmer in winter. Mount Williamson hotel is okay conveniently located. THE TRI TIP BREAKFAST BURRITO UP IN BIG PINE IS LIFE CHANGING. Right side going north.
Dan speaking of Tom's Place, do you know how far you can go up the road in the winter? Do they plow it at all? Would love to snowshoe up into those lakes at some point if it's reachable. ❤️
Oh, wow, felt so bad for Adam on the scree. The vocals when you summited were insanely beautiful and complex. Like Vivaldi point/counterpoint weaving of melodies--gorgeous like the rocks you clambered.
Wow this one was pretty crazy!! Adam is a beast!! With a bout of Crohn's and able to do this hike?!?! Hats off to you Adam. Glad you both made it safely. Love the membership! We are subscribed under our other channel. Just a membership suggestion would be great to see Elise create her music and see her sing some of her songs. Also would be great to see you both training at the climbing gym. Thanks for your content!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that, and those are great ideas for videos. We will do both of them -- and btw if you haven't seen it yet, we do have a regular video in the "How we train" section about how we train for class 3 and 4 climbs which includes us doing both some indoor and some outdoor climbing training. And we'll def do an indoor specific one for members at some point this winter! ❤️
Thanks so much, Ivan! I'm doing great, was just sick for a few days and used the time to get a good rest. So glad you enjoyed this one -- we'd been wanting to climb it for a long time, and the views from the top were everything we'd hoped for! ❤️
Like they say, hike your own hike. That meanie Elise keeping Adam from his hiking poles LOL. Another great hike. (Edit) Just had to comment on this pic at 11:53. Stunning.
Haha thanks very much, Steve! It really was spectacular up there. And I'm not gonna lie -- it was kind of fun to be stronger than Adam for about 30 minutes, at least until we hit the granite ridge line! ❤️ --E
Aw thank you! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too -- we're in Palm Springs, and def got out for a morning Thanksgiving hike before hitting that big dinner! ❤️
OMG Dan it was so steep -- there would be like 20 yards that felt ok, and then like 50 yards going straight up in scree. It was tough and not my best day that's for sure, but as you say, at least I had Elise! --A
I know Thursdays are usually your day to upload, but what with the holiday today, I was kind of afraid to hope! (And would have absolutely understood if a video couldn’t be posted today.) I’m unfortunately not in a position to spend the day with family today, so I just wanted to hop on here and thank you guys for taking the time to upload another wonderful adventure for your viewers, especially on a day like this. Receiving the notification that there was a new adventure from my favorite RUclipsrs made me feel a little less alone and eager to follow along yet another death-defying trip with you guys. 😅 From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for sharing all of your wonderful adventures with us and for being so incredibly consistent about it! It means more to me than I can properly express in a RUclips comment 🫶🏻 I hope you both enjoy a wonderful and very Happy Thanksgiving today! 🤎🦃
Victoria this message just absolutely made our day. Thank you so much. We're very grateful for you, and sending you lots of love and hugs this Thanksgiving!! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving from across the Atlantic here in Scotland. As I sit at my desk on a Friday morning, I am very thankful for having you both taking us on another epic adventure, and showing us these incredible views from the summit! Similar to another commenter, I also have a chronic fear of heights / sheer drops, so I watch your videos both with a sense of awe and wonder, but also with white-knuckles and the adrenaline flowing
Thanks very much! It makes us super happy to be able to bring you along on climbs you might not do yourself. The more we do this, the more we realize that that is what community is all about -- each person contributing the things they do best, and all of us lifting and supporting one another in doing so. Very grateful that we can connect this way all the way across the Atlantic! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving! That loose rock would give me troubles and I am just under 6 ft and gravity seems to make me awkward on loose steep rock. Have you hiked up Clark Mountain before? No trails there and navigation skills are needed.
Ya it's funny, because so often being big can be a huge advantage in mountaineering but on super-steep scree it is a genuine nightmare. Never done Clark before, but love the Mojave and will def try it at some point! Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
ELISE and ADAM a hello from France. It's a very special adventure, and despite ADAM's suffering, his perseverance was the driving force behind this superb hike. ELISE and ADAM you are one, and it is a pleasure to feel your connivance cradled by an unfailing love. Nothing can stop you from climbing the peaks, where you are on first name terms with the gods in divine silence. This is the very spirit of Thanksgiving, that day of grace when the heavenly breath hovers over each of you. Despite the time difference between us, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving, but probably late. Kisses to both of you. DAN
Thanks so much, Dan! Adam is currently carving some turkey so I'm answering in English, but I want to say that we both really love and appreciate your poetic and supportive comments. Even in the English translation they are eloquent, and Adam says they are even more beautiful in French. Happy Thanksgiving from both of us! ❤️ --E
I mention the both of you on my Precipice to Beehive hike video at Acadia. That specific hike is as adventurous as I get. If you have a chance, please watch. I hope I am not being annoying. I just was thinking about the two of you when on trail and how you both inspire me. As I am typing this, I am watching the two of you climbing a ledge with snow and Adam is having issues because of being too tall. Sorry Adam, I can't relate to that.
Wow good for you Dan! We will definitely watch it when we get back from our Thanksgiving trip to Palm Springs and Joshua Tree! Much love, and hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving! ❤️
That scree field looks hideous! Some climbs are just better when they are covered in snow and you can use crampons and ice axes to ascend. I love the comment "This is pretty gnarly"... "A-Yup!" Happy Thanksgiving!
Haha yes Gary you are totally right. This would have been much better with poles in summer, or crampons in winter (as long as the snow was crunchy!). Happy Thanksgiving to you too -- hope yours was awesome! ❤️
Thanks so much, Serge! Yes the views from the top were truly worth the effort to climb up. Hope you are having a marvelous Thanksgiving, and we both want to thank you for all your amazing kindness and support! ❤️ --E
Adam, I send chocolates, and European sandwiches! And healing vibes! Poles, pfff, the kit you neglected to pack was the jetpack :) And to you both, I'm super grateful for your inspiring and adorable productions
Thanks very much, Liam -- OMG I definitely needed a nice European Sandwich on this one! We're really thankful for all your kind encouragement and support, today and every day! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving! I understand reaching what you think are your limits and then finding that little bit more inside that gets you through! Poles rule! 4x4 for humans!😂 And yes Adam, you are lucky to have Elise, just as I am to have my Angie!!!😊
Yes 100%! We are both super lucky. Having a partner who really loves the outdoors and can hang is something I might have taken a bit for granted before we started this channel, but now I've come to realize how genuinely rare it is. And huge agreement on the poles. Never again will I leave them behind! --A
I stumbled across your channel thanks to the RUclips recommendations, and I find myself semi-addicted to them! Just like many of your other stories, the hike/climb/adventure leaves a rock in my stomach in the middle, but you always bring a smile to my face by the end! (I think I would have s**#t my pants on that scree section and that ridgeline.....) ;-)
Lewis we're so happy you found us! Really delighted you're enjoying the adventures, and looking forward to bringing you lots more in the months and years to come!! Ya that scree section was nasty, but the ridge line, though dicey, was a joy to climb! ❤️
"Just" a quick lil' ol' afternoon snack hike, heh. Pertty pertty though. "I have like no ability . . ." uttered by Adam!?! Talk about planets colliding! Elise, no trekking poles is to Adam as kryptonite is to Superman. Feel better soon. My condolences for your loss. And happy TG! Eat wisely.
Haha thanks very much. I was joking with E that she did the pole thing on purpose to steal my superpower, but in truth she really could have used those poles as well 😂. Happy Thanksgiving! --A
I had no idea how much Adam actually has in common with me.
is there anything that can be done if crohns acts up on trail
@@gridirontrenches5010 I carry some prednisone with me on overnights, so if the small intestine completely closes up and I can't keep down water (that's the biggest danger with the kind of Crohn's I have) then I can take the prednisone and hopefully reduce the swelling enough to hydrate. If it happens on a day hike, I just have to stay cool and get myself down ASAP.
@@LiveHardxLoveHard well best wishes, yall are my favorite!
@@LiveHardxLoveHardhello how can I find this trail on AllTrails app? 🌸🌸🌸
I watch your videos on a 75" 4k. It's like being there. Truly spectacular!
Props to you guys for dealing with issues while still doing what you love. You've shown us beautiful places that we may never get to see. Keep truckin, Adam and Elise. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Thanks very much, Sal -- that is totally our motivation for making the videos, and we really appreciate it. Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
@@renameduser466 Thank you, that makes us so happy to hear!
You two keep your sense of humor even under tough conditions! Happy Thanksgiving! You are lucky to have someone like Elise in your life!
Thanks Joseph, yes you are totally right and it's always good to get that reminder! Happy Thanksgiving!! --A
Thank you for sharing another spectacular adventure! Can you tell me what type of boots you were wearing for this hike/climb?
Thank you, and sure -- we're wearing La Sportiva TX4 approach shoes in this one. That's pretty much our go-to whenever there's intense rock scrambling and especially granite slabs involved. ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thank you! I will check those out.
Another great adventure, Elise & Adam. Glad we got to spend some time together at Thanksgiving. Love you!
Such a fun Thanksgiving -- thanks again! Love you guys, and we're already thinking about the possibilities for Hawaii next year!!
Haha we're thinking about a Subaru with snow tires this winter -- if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! 😂
We are thankful to you both too. Such a great channel and great people you two. Another awesome adventure from both of you! Thank you
Thanks Elif! That's such a nice thing to read, and we're very happy to bring you these adventures! ❤️
Happy Thanks Giving. Tough hike forsure. Gravel and scree really wears you down
Thanks Jim -- ya it really does. It's just so disheartening to sink a foot back with every step. But worth it for that summit! Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving! Adam and Elise!!!
I'm thankful for you both ❤
Thanks Dave!! We're thankful for you too -- Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
Your videos bring back memories of climbing the mountains in Hawaii solo when I was a kid. Yes, I was young and stupid once.
Haha that is great to hear -- we love hiking in Hawaii! Really happy to inspire those memories. ❤️
Another awesome adventure! Your attitude is infectious. A good metaphor for life in general when facing hardships. The poles will now be taken on every hike in the future, no matter what.
Thanks Monte! Ya unless it's all rock scrambling and slabs, the poles are coming! ❤️
Thank you. May you always be safe 🙏🏻
Thanks Thomas ! We will def do our best to stay safe -- we still have way too much to see and explore to be out with an injury or worse! ❤
7:47 Adam's first ever FB and I am not talking about Facebook lol. Glad you guys made it in one piece
Thanks Larry! We're very grateful for you on Thanksgiving, and hope you had a really nice one. Much love and hugs! ❤️
you guys are one a different level. that looks so dangerous. sand, snow and steep wet rocks.you're lucky to have each other for motivation and company. pretty awesome adventures, thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks so much! Yes we really are lucky to have a partner that shares a love for this kind of thing. It was definitely a bit more than we bargained for on this one, but definitely glad we did it. It’s a peak we’ve been looking at for years and always wondered what it’s like on top!
Well done, the ascent up the scree looked absolutely brutal, most people would have given up. inspirational. Thanks so much for sharing.
I’m thankful for the two of you all year.
I’m not able to do the climbing that you do.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks very much for saying that. It's an honor to be able to take you on these adventures with us. Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
Great job pushing through and making the best. Quite the scree field, even with a pole I need to side step up loose stuff with my feet sideways and use careful weight distribution, but not fun. 10:21 epic shot of the day!
Ya I hear you on that -- we did a lot of the sideways on the way down, that's for sure! But definitely worth it all for the epic views at the top!! ❤️

Wow! that was one impossible climb ...
Yet you guys did it, despite the shifting sands, and ragged ridge-lines.

Once again, you've made my day. Wishing you all the best.
Thanks very much, James! We're really thankful for all your kind support, and hope that you had a great Thanksgiving today! ❤️
Awesome that you were just at OV -- one of the world's truly great trailheads! Did you do Kearsarge? ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving to you both! What crazy hike, I with you on using poles. It saves my knees, I collapse them and stow them in my backpack for scrabbling. Keep having fun!
Thanks Dave! Yes poles are essential tools, and I will not be caught without them again. Happy Thanksgiving! --A
Amazing route, amazing light. Well done, thanks for sharing. JC.
Thanks James! Ya that 2000 feet of scree sucked, but the granite ridge line and summit definitely made the whole thing worth it. Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️
Agree never no poles anywhere in Sierras, fun decomposed granite crawling! Happy Thanksgiving with love! G
Yes! Even when you think you won't need them, there will be someplace where you wish you had them. That's the last time I don't bring them on a hike. Happy Thanksgiving! --A
Happy Thanksgiving to both of you so glad that you have each other.
Thanks Kim -- we really are lucky, and definitely feeling thankful for that today. Happy Thanksgiving!! 🙏❤️
I am thankful for your videos you take me places i wil NEVER get to ever .. please be careful on these climbs of yours ... Elise you are lucky in Adam
You two never cease to amaze and inspire me. I hope to be brave one day like Adam
Thanks so much, Larry! That is a lovely thing for us to hear today -- Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
Aesthetic climbs with aesthetic climbers. RUclips doesn't get any better than this 😉👍
Thanks very much -- that is a lovely comment to read this morning!
Yep.
The snow is coming supposedly -- they say a big El Nino. We'll see...
Nice to see this video. Much determination to do this hike! Better than watching football for sure. Elise is really amazing that she would be willing to do this stuff. Keep happy. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed this one, and ya the games yesterday weren't so great, so happy we could provide an alternative! ❤️
Another excellent video, cheers guys! its so bright on this day! those views are incredible too! hope you're both doing well, stay safe!
@@neydaarechiga396 OK, I'm putting that down on the list of video topics for this winter during storm season!
Thank you! ❤ you guys!
Ritter. Go North.
😅😂❤
So proud of you two.
Great to use on scree skiing too but risky, to break'em. . .
Haha ya Karl, loving the 3/4s! Def gotta catch up on your stuff -- will be a good holiday project! ❤️
Whats crazy about this peak is the view of Thors Peak. Wotans. Heck the entire vicinity.
We still gotta do Thors Peak!! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving. Nice treat to watch between football. Love you guys.😊
Haha yes! The Sierra provides perfect counter-programming! Happy Thanksgiving! ❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing your experience. How do you go about finding these ridge hikes?
Awesome video, route, spirit, love your adventures!!
Thanks very much, Kevin -- that is fantastic and very uplifting to hear!! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving! Another amazing summit. What a view!
Thanks very much -- yes the 360 from up there was pretty darn incredible! Happy Thanksgiving!! ❤️
Any kind of mountain climbing is something I’ve really struggled with since developing Crohn’s. Well done to both of you
Thanks very much, Andrew!

Thank you so much -- really happy you liked it! 🙏❤️
Inspiring and of course EPIC.....thanks for the ride !
Thank you, and it's our pleasure. Really happy it got epic at the top -- after climbing all that scree, we felt we deserved it! ❤️
trails look clear. If I flew out this week, could I hike from onion valley to Whitney portal without major snow issues?
Great to see your latest adventure. Phenomenal views!!! Out of interest how much footage did you have for this video and how long did it take to edit?
Great vlog Elise & Adam.
Worth battling through the challenges just to see that summit 360 !
😸😾 ❤
Thanks so much, Mark! We really appreciate your encouragement and are very thankful for you today!! ❤️
Amazing as always. Wish Adam is OK. Very inspiring. thank you for sharing.
Happy Thanksgiving!! You guys are couple goals. ❤
Aw thank you! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too -- we're in Palm Springs, and def got out for a morning Thanksgiving hike before hitting that big dinner! ❤️
You can never go wrong being thankful
Absolutely, Rick. A good gratitude practice can turn even the toughest situations in a positive direction! ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving!! Holy cow, online it says 771ft per mile for this route!! Great job as usual!! PS - Yes Adam, you're lucky to have Elise!! 😄
(And would have absolutely understood if a video couldn’t be posted today.)
I’m unfortunately not in a position to spend the day with family today, so I just wanted to hop on here and thank you guys for taking the time to upload another wonderful adventure for your viewers, especially on a day like this.
Really cool, you look like you're going to a yoga class! 🙂
Haha ya these tights are pretty amazing for the kind of climbing we do -- good yoga and good climbing actually have a whole lot in common!
That was a masterclass in perseverance. Congrats on making it to the top. Happy thanks giving!
@@rdmalonso1 Thank you -- Happy Thanksgiving!
Remind me of the east ridge of Mt Russel at the summit.
We still haven't done Russell, but it's right at the very top of the list -- it just looks so cool along that knife edge!! ❤️
Yes, a lot of air up there on Russell, just do it in the summer. One slip on ice up there would be fatal.@@LiveHardxLoveHard
That was an intense hike..!! But what a crazy beautiful view....😩
It was def a bit more than we bargained for, Rob, but yeah that 360 from the top made the whole thing worth it!! ❤️
Well done and Happy Thanksgiving to you both.
Thanks Chris! It was a wonderful Thanksgiving, and hope yours was too!
Superb climb, and lovely ❤ ending. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks Paul! Ya the ridge and summit were definitely worth the climb in the end.
DAN
"A-Yup!"
Happy Thanksgiving!
Haha yes Gary you are totally right. This would have been much better with poles in summer, or crampons in winter (as long as the snow was crunchy!). Happy Thanksgiving to you too -- hope yours was awesome! ❤️
Wow Elise this one was a hard one.. Never saw Adam almost without breath... But the 360 views are magnifico... Happy Thanksgiving 🦃😘
Poles, pfff, the kit you neglected to pack was the jetpack :)
And to you both, I'm super grateful for your inspiring and adorable productions
Happy thanksgiving and safe steps on your hikes
Thanks very much -- hope you had a great Thanksgiving too! ❤️
Thank you for sharing
Of course, John -- so grateful for all your support and inspiration today!! ❤️
