I’m 6’5”. The first year I used my splitter my back was killing me. Finally put a couple of jack stands under it. What a difference. That was 30 years ago. I’m 70 ,.. my boy splits now Enjoy your channel. Learned a lot
There's a reason why manual labour with your father in particular is good for your mental health. Approval is your reward and in your mind there's no greater approval than the person you cherish and respect most (your father). He raised a truly great son into a amazing man, your father has staggering hidden power behind his swing with that Fiskers in his hands.
It's exactly the swing it needs to be efficient. Axes, malls and hammers are "impact-tools" and following the "principle of linear momentum" speed is much more effective than weight - double weight=double impact, double speed=4x impact.
Great to see father and son working together with love! I’d give all I have to be able to split a cord with my ol man! Rest his soul. Now that means I’d be running a 8 pound maul as he sat and instructed me whilst drinking a cold beer. And that would be just fine! Thank for the video . Love y’all from Tennessee
Lol, I regret to admit I've been forced to split firewood as well as bucking with a chainsaw in crocs. Both times were due to forgetting my work boots at home. It was far from fun, but I kept all my digits. I don't forget my boots much anymore...
Been looking at those Fiskars and couldn’t justify the cost bc I wasn’t sure how well they worked. Your dad makes them look like winners. Fiskars should sponsor him!!!!! Love you guys!!!!
Thank you for this video. I took your advice that scrolled across the screen at about 22:30. "Men, if yer mental health is suffering humble physical labor will repair it " It worked for me today. I just wanted you to know that you effected me in a very positive way. Thank you!
I'm finally getting control over my ASD and MDD and I really need to get my kids out of this city life asap. I've always been a natureboy but I've been disabled for a very long time. I really need to kick some ass.
Love your videos man. Was going through a pretty rough spot but your videos reignited my passion for logging and axes, helped pull me out from a dark place.
BeeBRS. I Sat behind a desk for the best part of my life. I'm retired now and the wife and I spend our summers in the white mountains of Arizona to get away from the heat. The wife and I go into the Sitgreaves and cut wood. I love the physicality of cutting wood then going home and splitting by hand. Like your Dad I have a maul, sledge hammer and a Fiskers. I'm an old guy like your Dad and I swear cutting wood is keeping me young. Thanks for the video and thanks for loving your Dad.
My Dad always told me , to be feeling your best, a man needs to, at the very least, fire his internal furnace up , at least once a day ! And more than that is even better . He'd tell me, that what he meant by firing his internal furnace up , was doing something physical until you break a sweat , and there ya go !! I like the way you think , the part where you say hard physical work makes you feel even better when your doing it to help out someone else , that is the ticket right there !! Thankyou for another Awesome video !!
I love splitting wood, the way it feels getting work done, watching my pile get bigger is quite satisfying. Even the Lemonade tastes better when your working with friends.
Buckin, I am sitting here, doing rehab after a hip replacement, I love seeing you and your dad splitting wood together, the process your old man uses is the same process that I use and have for the last 50 years. I love the old school way.
Love the time you get with the man. It was the greatest moments of my life. I think pop's a little faster than the splitter it a close one. God bless you both.
The fact that this splitter is dangerous is what makes it safe! Notice the angle he looks at and how he holds his lead hand as he actuates! Anything not right and the actuating hand is flat ..... No way it could accidentally trip that actuator! What stands out to me (in many of his videos) is the cackle of pure joy in knowing he is doing a good job! That, my friends is absolutely priceless, the fact it is with his Dad, more so!
I started loving wood, enthusiastically (I've loved wood, leather, and cork since I was a young boy) in the last year. Something about fatwood, knowing I can start a fire....I let that spark burn and take off inside me in the last year. Stumbled across your channel, and you've given me endless positive feelings.
Got to love those kinetic splitters ! Got to keep Pops hands off the end of those logs ! I raised my splitter up belly button high and put a table on both sides . Take care . Joe
I got the gx on a compressor. Starts first pull every time. No matter how long it sits. Just don’t rest your hand on the exhaust by accident. It’ll say hot backwards on your palm.
Just purchased this splitter today after seeing the reviews on this channel a year or two ago... looking forward to splitting many cords in the near future. Thanks for sharing Buckin'! All the best friends.
I laughed soooo hard on this one. You dad walks up with his tried and true Fiskars, one swing, it falls in half. He makes no comment. Just goes on to the next piece with his one split swings. You come up, whip out your fire axes, and hit all over the rounds making all kinds of exclamatory comments about how cool the fire axes are. Slow and steady wins the race. I am with your Dad on this one. BUckin, Please put your hand on the TOP of the log for this splitter! I have the same splitter. If you hang your fingers over the end, you could lose em.
Great to see you working with your dad, Billy my old dad is 85, and until last year he thought he was 25. Unstoppable. My mum died last March, he's now 85 again. I need to spend more time with him. Great watching the videos. Keep it up. Davie. 👍
Well Buckin you have given me great inspiration to get an axe and chainsaw and get out on my 40 archers and cut/split wood for health reasons. I have now become totally addicted!! Have purchased two vintage axe heads (one HB) and put very nice handles on them! Also hav e gotten pretty good a sharping! Well now when I start to get tired (59 years old) I will think of your Dad for inspiration!! Keep up the great work of motivating! I has got me out of the house and out in the woods!!!
I have never seen anyone get so excited about splitting wood by hand. Y'all are workin way too hard and havin way lotta fun doing it. Course that itty bitty soft wood aint much of a challenge to split. But I had a great time watchin Yall. Loads of fun
Never seen a splitter like that! No hoses hanging and holy cow it's fast see where you get the great work ethic. Boy your dad no slouch 💪 always good to see you working together.
Buckin' Billy you are awesome. Watching you and your old man work together is heart warming. I haven't had many chances to work with my father but I always really enjoyed it when I did.
When you said fastest manual log splitter I thought it was just going to be a picture of you for 20 minutes or so! Lol! Peace Buckin and the army! Welcome new subs! This channel and the message is amazing! Love and kindness!
I dont see to many people work hard like that any more. And to see your dad right there with you. Pretty special to be able to enjoy that time with him. Love to vids.
Old Man still swinging like a champ!! Most of the ole timers are stout they may be a little slower but still got that swing!! way to go !!! Love seeing this reminds me of me and my old man and my Gpa
Rather than bending raise the machine , or stand in a hollow to stay straight , and fit a tray on one side for pieces you have to resize , your dads good with the splitter
...A COUPLE OF 3 OR 4 INCH ANGLED WINGS ON THAT RAIL WHERE YOU DROP THE LOGS WOULD SAVE YOU ALL THAT WRESTLING WITH THE LOGS TO KEEP THEM ON THE RAIL AND STILL LET YOU DROP ONE FOR A SIDE CUT...SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS BUT I'M TOO LAZY TO RETYPE IT SINCE I SAW I HAD EM LOCKED....GREAT JOB SEEIN SOME PEOPLE STILL KNOW HOW TO ENJOY WORK.
I personally have a smaller log splitter that is much slower than the one shown here. However, I find that I rarely use the splitter unless I am overwhelmed with a giant pile of wood. There is something "relaxing" to splitting 30" diameter rounds down by hand, assuming you can avoid nasty knots. Takes me back to when I was 7 to 10 years old, working with my younger brother, Dad, and my Grandpa, processing downed trees in the National Forests with a firewood permit. Stopping whenever we wanted, working as long as we wanted, with absolutely not a care in the world but being able to enjoy each other, and of course nature. We couldn't afford a splitter, so we cut in the Spring after snows, and then hand split the rest of the year. If you have never done it, I suggest you find someone who does, and does so safely. It is a great way to stay in shape, enjoy folks company, and get away from life's stresses.
NICE AXES!...THAT'S WHAT I WANTED TO SEE!!! THAT IS THE BEST LOG SPLITTER ON THE INTERNET!... IF NOT THE FASTEST ONE!.....LOVE THAT LOG SPLITTER BUCKIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love how fast that splitter is. a couple things. 1. Needs a little catcher so stuff doesn't fall off. 2. needs a little higher. I don't know how tall the man is but he looks like a stout lad. Bending over like that will be hell on his back after a hour. Love the videos
Bet it's going to be hard to part with those axes after using them. Watching you and your dad working together sure brought back memories of my dad and I
I just found this channel. I love this stuff. I can't stop watching it. Buckin' Billy Ray is great. I love the way he talks. It's as if Dan Akroyd and Rowdy Roddy Piper had a love child.
Yo my man, I have nothing to do with wood splitting i have maybe used an axe 2p timmes in my life but you are the most uplifting guy, you make me at peace just watching. I can watch you for hours. Its weird but wish i was as happy as you...
I was always taught to split in a circular pattern by following the rings, working a couple of inches from the outside and working toward the center. You guys seem to have no problem driving right through the center. I love the beautiful property in the back ground. I wish I lived in a place like that.
That is so great to see father and son working together in peace. It is nice to see. I split by hand with an ax. I line them up in a line aling the frozen ground and split them when it is cold in morning or evening. They split better in the cold and when they are along the ground you get more of a swing then when they are on a chopping block. You don't need to pick them up much, just tip them up and split them on the ground
Your pops is an amazing ol' boy! You can tell he's never taken the short cuts and worked for what he's got. Hope I can work like that when I get there. Should feel proud Buckin! Love the channel brother👊
That thing is crazy fast! It buries itself in a hurry. One way to get a good jump on your wood is to have a smooth system like that. Love to you and the family❤️
Best time in a man's life, working with his pops after he has becoming his own man. Thats like heaven on earth brother. The mental health message is so true. God bless
That was what I call productivity fellas. I love that log splitter, but after you demonstrated what it does to your back,& posture. Forget about it, I’ll just watch y’all lol.💯❤️👍🏾😃🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
After hearing that story about your back and watching you run the log splitter it just goes to show the best thing you can do for pain or injury is keep moving, after allowing ample time to heal of course.
That honda motor is bulletproof. We run them on our spray trailers, never had a problem. But that splitter is nothing without a couple a smooth operators like that!!
"The Old Man" can sure swing those axes. I myself is around his age. My grandfather born 1898 passed 1989 taught my twin brother and I splitting wood at 11 yrs old, Maple, Ironwood, Ash and ELM. No mauls, motorized splitters or wedges, all in the technique. Surprisingly how much easier wood is to split when -30 to -40 degrees, always cut and split one winter ahead. For family home only 7 to 8 "bush cord" a year. Thanks for the Memory with you DAD
"This is a Honda" is all I needed to hear. I knew the thing was gonna start right up. I still drive my Grandmas old 2000 Civic. My Dad sold Hondas when I was a kid. Legendary engines
Buckin, what an awesome day with your dad! Really touched home and how my dad and I shared working together. What I would give brother! Love to you and yours Billy...
I’m 6’5”. The first year I used my splitter my back was killing me. Finally put a couple of jack stands under it. What a difference. That was 30 years ago. I’m 70 ,.. my boy splits now

That blue splitting machine is awesome. The gas powered one works pretty good too.

Algún día pagarás las barbaridades que haces en tu trabajo,y que hacerlo más moderado,y no año bruto
That is gas powered

Looks like pops is showing you how it’s done!
It's exactly the swing it needs to be efficient. Axes, malls and hammers are "impact-tools" and following the "principle of linear momentum" speed is much more effective than weight - double weight=double impact, double speed=4x impact.
I actually thought the title was a joke and that's this log splitter lol
@@Nocrii haha.. I thought it was going to be buckin at double speed splitting a bunch of rounds in a row. 🤣🤣
The old man reminded you where you learned to split wood

Well said.

Watching you two work together is heart warming. He's really great.
Nothing more entertaining that watching two Canadians chopping wood.
Awesome dude 👍🏻

Never have I seen a man more confidently split wood wearing crocs than this man.
When will buckin get to the legend status of splitting wood in crocs 😂
OldPossum agreed.
I dont think thats legend i think that would be a mistake waiting to happen.
Greg Shearer I actually split some wood in crocs today lol
Crocs you say?

I love that he refers to his audience as “friends” its nice.
Reasonably fair comparison considering it was done by one of the participants. Enjoyed it, thanks.
Lol I love how buckin says “gotta watch my finger”. Then the splitter shows up and he goes HOLD MY AXE! For a bum finger your flying!

Your dad's place is awesome!!
Buckin, what an awesome day with your dad! Really touched home and how my dad and I shared working together. What I would give brother! Love to you and yours Billy...
