The animations are so weird and janky. I like how in the second level they played a song from Mario World 2, and I like how they turned the Axe into a functional game element, instead of it only being the end of the level.

I remember back in 2019 when Mario Maker 2 first came out and everyone was using all the new themes and items to try and replicate Level UP's videos, good times
That was a golden era
I did this too with the Goomba pyramid, but I kept giving up
Hey Dave, if you see this, definitely give the Goomba Revolution pilot episode a watch when you have the chance. That "yellow Goomba" you saw a bunch is way more important to Level Up lore than you'd think.

the fact that the game is nearly indistinguishable from the videos is pretty impressive, and the physics are matched extremely well too!

I think it fits under the right to parody. This fan game on the other hand, maybe not.
@@mike1024. parody or not, they are using licenced names, sprites, etc from Nintendos games.

Nintendo (and Japan) unfortunately considers parodies just as bad as copying the source material itself. Japan’s stance on Fair Use is HOSTILE.

This was such a cool fan game! It makes me remember when I used to watch Level Up
I remember a good few years ago when I first got into RUclips from watching Level Up and I am still subscribed and watch the videos (with comments) to this day. I have thought about how cool it would be to play them at that time and recently have been thinking about that a little bit too. While it is missing some elements such as some of Mario's special moves (such as climbing on the huge goomba plus the goons also doing those special-ish moves too like the one headbonk defeating instead of just bouncing him without getting squished and the special death scenes like being whacked to death with the goombas doing the satisfied smile and getting turned into bones or a pig), some dialogue/expressions and start parts, these few levels were still pretty cool and just like with the mindblowing TLOZ:OOT/SM64 hack (which probably won't get continued), I am hoping that there will be more made into levels, especially the newer videos like the void and the ones where you play as another character. I am going to watch BTG play it too before the video straight after of playing that SMW Rom Hack about SMBW and then my Watch Later List will all be cleared which would be quite good.
Level Up should make Mario Maker levels if they haven't already. So creative

I think my favorite part was when you watched 2 entire videos with no useful commentary added, rather than watching, say, a couple seconds to show how similar the levels are to the videos, and then saying something like "I highly recommend these videos, if you haven't seen them, the link will be in the description, this is a really cool series."

What are you even talking about. The game already gives like 2 pixels of leeway where the sprites overlap before it registers the hit. But of course, it's the game's fault!
And the only reason I bring this is up is because I remembered how you recently complained about the lacking difficulty in Nintendo games these days. THIS is the exact reason why. Because players like you (and you are by far not the only one obviously) will get upset, you will immediately blame the game and potentially rate the game more negatively when things don't go your way. So the solution is to simply make the games easier to avoid these kind of troubles. There you have it, if you ever feel like complaining again why the official games are a bit too easy then you can only blame your own behaviour for it.
im surprised someone made this for levelup and not others. not trying to say they dont deserve it, but i always felt like their animations are easily outshadowed by a ton of other animator creators of mario etc

The second level in particular has such a cool art style, I'd love a whole game in thus whole 'HD Super Mario Land' aesthetic
Holy fuck shits, I always wanted Nintendo to implement some of Level Up’s concepts into their games, cause they never fall short of creative. The levels are made to be used as a stage for Level Up’s comedy and not to legitimately be played cause they would be far too difficult, so I never expected to see Nintendo work their ideas in. However I also never expect a fan to make 1 for 1 recreations of the levels and have the whole perception of the game skewed to troll levels. Cause Level Up levels weren’t meant to be traditional, they were meant to be funny. But this is something else. This is just fantastic. And is basically perfect. The videos are all credited and everything. The game is colorful and beautiful as the animations they copy, this is a godsend.
For the In the Goomba one, did Level Up predict 7-4 Light up the night sky from ULTRAKILL
