  • We've had a bunch of people ask how DC fast charging works. We've been riding our demo LiveWire several times a day and decided we should bring it around to our DC fast charger and show everyone how it works. DC Fast Charging a Harley-Davidson LiveWire

Most informative video I've seen on how to charge an EV.

Great explanation for new riders. Weird DC changing advice though.
You can do it all day.

11 hrs at home & 40 min DC fast charging, not sure I want this anymore. 30K, hopefully the next gen will have faster charging!

Well over an hour to fast charge. That bike was at 40% and it as still going to take almost 50 minutes.

DC only fast charging is a pain and the reason this bike will never sell!
The best charging option is fast AC charging for the primary reason you can fast charge at home in a little over an hour. This means you can only fast charge at commercial DC charging stations. They don't sell DC fast chargers for home use. To charge at home you have to use the slowwww 110 v charger which is a bad move for Livewire 1 - Now I heard they fixxed this mistake on the the Del Mar and it accepts AC fast charging allowing you to fast charge at home on a 220 dryer plug.
Why is this - because Harley did not want to pay for a fast charge module for the bike.

I found out that the bike will charge phase 2 power at phase 1 speed. That ruined it for me. I can put phase 2 in my house, I can't do pahse 3. Sad. I really wanted this bike.

What happens if your phone is dead?

Assuming you didn't run your bike battery completely to zero you could plug your phone in to your bike and then wave it in front of the charger. If you lose you phone however. Then you would be screwed. Honestly though if someone came by the dealership I would just let them use my account. Its less than a buck to charge the bike on our DC Fast.

Blows my mind that still in 2021, this bike can only use j1772 at a regular wall outlet charge rate. With the recent price cut, this bike would be a no brainer if it just had that capability. It’s cool that it has DC fast charging, but the infrastructure still sucks while j1772 is everywhere

Great video... I swear though I gotta stop watching these videos. I want an electric motorcycle so badly, but the price is what continually kills it for so many of us.

11hrs to charge for a 2hr ride at best? For a 15k bike? ? I honestly like it, just see the range and charge time makes this bike not for me. This battery tech is not ready for these politicians to demand we abandon gas powered vehicles.

11 minutes to show us something that actually took 2 minutes.
This video refutes HD's claim that DC fast charging will charge the bike from 0% to 100% in an hour considering this bike is going to take almost 50 minutes to go from 40% to 100%.
Also hilarious that HD makes you pay to charge your bike at the stealership.

Do they give you free gas at the dealership?
