Seems like manufacturers are loading up on technology and features that 99% of us will only use 1% of the times.
In reality we only just need a handful of useful tech. Some of the safety features are actually helpful. And I do like the 360 camera on cars equipped with them. But all this other superfluous crap they just pile on top of one another is just a waste. It will take 5 years just to learn everything 100% and that's if you haven't crashed while driving fidgeting with it.

$80k for a 250hp turbo 4 and a small-ish SUV? That's nuts. The tech seems amazing, but not $80k amazing. A fully optioned BMW X3 M50 (which is much MUCH faster than this) is around $75k maxed out. I just don't understand Ford's pricing strategy here. It makes no sense.

I think "cosmetic luxury" was probably the right phrase to sum-up this car. I really like the look of the interior...but there's nothing about this car that reflects the price point. The engine sound is brash and annoying - in Lincoln, I'd expect better sound deadening. The exterior design is pretty boring, but it's based on the tiny Escape, which at 6'2 I can't really fit into comfortably. I mean, it's....okay, but that's about it. For $80K, I want spectacular...maybe not Rolls Royce, but pretty damned good. This isn't it.

"Feels more like cosmetic luxury than actual solid feel and quality". You hit the nail on the head. The money is in all those screens and the buttons and doo dads. It trickles all the way down to the Escape. We have 4 of them in our work fleet and they feel cheap, ride cheap, and sound cheap. Even the base models we have has lots of tech with an iPad on the dash board but since 800 miles the one I use sometimes has a rattle under the dash and lots of road noise I suspect from lack of insulation and last but not least a jerky CVT transmission!

Disagree. I got my Reserve II Nautilus for $65K and the only thing it’s missing from the Black Label is the color themed interior, the massaging seats and the “Black Label concierge service”. A base AWD X5 starts at $68K before you even add any options to it and the Nautilus has a nicer interior, looks cooler on the exterior (in my opinion) and gets better gas mileage. The 310 HP hybrid is plenty enough power… I’m not buying an SUV to also serve as a sports car, I would buy an actual sports car if I was trying to go fast.

I test drove both along with many other SUVs in the class and preferred the Lincoln. There’s nothing special or unique about the X5 interior and I have nowhere convenient near me to charge the plugin hybrid version (which is $8K more before adding any other features to it… add another $5400 if you want air conditioned seats, heated steering wheel, park assist, 360° camera and for it to do automated driving… all included on the Lincoln reserve trim).

The exterior looks nice. The blacked out look really works on this.
However, the big interior screen looks crazy distracting. It also sits way too far forward, creating a shelf with a lot of wasted space. I get that they were going for a cockpit like feel... but it just looks too distracting to me. Information overload. At least there is the option to turn off the right half of the screen. I think I prefer how Cadillac is doing their big screen and making the right half for the passenger.

This engine is used in the Edge as well (Ford's Nautilus counterpart) the 2.0L is an upgraded engine for the Escape's higher trims, but has existed in the Edge for a long while now, Ford often shares their engines with different models and are retooled for those particular cars, I'll certainly miss the 2.7L V6 but thanks to fuel regulations these are killing these cars higher powered cars, I'd probably advise the Hybrid with 310hp combined for the extra performance only but 30/31mpg on a hybrid like this is a bit of a joke, they need to do better with that

Lincoln really went for the tech and styling in this generation of Nautilus. While to an enthusiast, this vehicle doesn't make sense, anyone interested in screens galore and sharp styling, this is the ticket. Not in the Black Label trim, as it is a terrible value, but the lowest trim with the middle package is a fairly decent value. Everyone these days is cost cutting, so no surprise to see this not try to hide its cosmetic luxury status. If you want actual luxury from Lincoln, you need to step up to at least the Aviator. And it won't be that difficult to step up to the Aviator, as it has a lot of price overlap with this new Nautilus.

One of my pet peeves about Lincoln is that they lock you out of the touchscreen as far as the phone's keypad while driving. The virtual phone system that I use requires the pressing of "1" to accept a call. GM does not lock you out but my previous Lincoln's did. Have they made an adjustment to this in the latest models?
