    I spent more than 20 years riding ships in the Coast Guard. this was the "best" video presentation I have ever seen regarding the long liner. Thanks to Capt. Hoang Gia Anh, the crew, and to you for such an enjoyable presentation of the hard work needed to provide the fresh fish we all enjoy.

    I'm Vietnamese and the translation at 18:02 is completely off. Who the hell translated this???
    This is what the dude really said:
    "I get very worried on board this boat. Not only for myself but for every crew member. These guys are like my brothers, so I look out for everyone of them. We look out and take care of each other in this long journey of life on the ocean."
    He didn't complain anything about work, or long hours, or personal family or saving up for school. His message is similar to those on a battlefield, their main concern is the brotherhood livelihood of the dangerous life on the ocean. *Shake my head*

    As a sport fisherman, I’m not a huge fan of long liners but understand the how and why of what they do. Cool video and great documentary, also get that poor guy a decent wetsuit, if he is going to enter the food chain and possibly get eaten by something he might as well be warm while doing it……tight lines!

      just because one person is using a butterknife to kill the worlds natural 'last frontiers' beauty, doesn't make one any better than another using a butchers knife.
      think about this carefully before you reply, i know you will need a lot of time to process this.

    • @jennylynnize
      @jennylynnize 10 лет назад +1

      ntwa dumela I would much rather be cut with a sharp knife ! Its people like you that don't know or have a clue about what you are talking about. I have Swordfished a long time over 20 years. When you don't understand is because you don't know. Next time you're eating fish think about where it came from and how it was caught.

    • @ntwadumela6566
      @ntwadumela6566 10 лет назад +4

      joey presnell why are you replying when you don't even understand my point? it doesn't matter if you use a blunt butterknife or a sharp butchers knife you are still killing, that is the point to the original post saying "this is the best way to fish"
      and you don't understand where this is filmed, honalulu (hawaii) and guess who the fishermen are? ASIAN.
      this is happening all over the pacific, asians corperates bribe small pacific island officials to be able to fish in their waters. the islanders lose out, their habitat is overfished and most of the fish will be exported to where the real demand is ASIA.
      this isn't catching for what you need, this is fishing for a bigger demand in other expanding countries.
      so how about you mind your own business, you can't see the forest for the trees in your stupid remark "Next time you're eating fish think about where it came from"
      my country regulates its waters and isn't corrupt. YOU don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

    Guys handline is actully so much more efficient, they release the every fish except swordfish, trawler ships takes millions of fish and destroy reefs and habitats everyday, 100000ss of undersize fish and unwanted fish go to waste. great documentary!

    • @lukkyluciano
      @lukkyluciano 8 лет назад

      +Robert b b Dont even try explaining to them, they are against people making a living. The idiot above thinks that shark died, instead of listening to what the guy said, he makes his own conclusion. Who cares anyway, it's a shark that is not endangered and the shark swam away with little damage from the hook. This is actually one of the safest ways to fish for swordfish. Hawaii'an based ships have gotten great at eliminating bird and turtle bycatch but these people have to make a living and fishing is one of the few ways to do it for people in the Pacific islands and East Asia
