I spent more than 20 years riding ships in the Coast Guard. this was the "best" video presentation I have ever seen regarding the long liner. Thanks to Capt. Hoang Gia Anh, the crew, and to you for such an enjoyable presentation of the hard work needed to provide the fresh fish we all enjoy.
Thomas Lindsey wwl0
Jeffery Miller, Grand Rapids MI, does that ring any bells?
You can tell how experienced the captain is with the way he was chilling the entire time. Great documentary.
i've been a fisherman for almost ten years now and been watching so many videos and this is the best one so far and the closest to what im use to seeing and doing and most interesting i have seen so far ... brought back so many memories ...Job well done guys
You Have to watch this! It's amazing to see how hard this fisherman work. A very well done documentary.
I love this video. I appreciate the hard word of everyone involved. I feel so inspired to just chase meaningful adventure with reckless abandon!!! I wanna go out there and do what these guys do!!!!
Wonderful presentation of a tough & beautiful life…a salute to those that pursue these majestic fish.
I’ve been all around the fishing industry and it real nice to see someone portray U.S. commercial fishing with reality and not like their just indiscriminate killers. Thank you
Commercial fisherman are the rapists of the sea
Thanks very much Mate! ..Have a great fishing season.
I also work at sea, on 4 weeks rotation. i work on construction vessels and sit at my desk, looking at my screens. so i do understand these guys. but i do love fishing and i would love to try this for one time!!
I'm Vietnamese and the translation at 18:02 is completely off. Who the hell translated this???
This is what the dude really said:
"I get very worried on board this boat. Not only for myself but for every crew member. These guys are like my brothers, so I look out for everyone of them. We look out and take care of each other in this long journey of life on the ocean."
He didn't complain anything about work, or long hours, or personal family or saving up for school. His message is similar to those on a battlefield, their main concern is the brotherhood livelihood of the dangerous life on the ocean. *Shake my head*
Yes its tuff not like pushing a pencil or a key pad all day real men doing hard work feeding people of the world.

I thought that part about going to school seemed odd.

Figures. Typical documentary. Trying to make drama and fear.

That was excellent my man. I didn't a documentary about catching sword fish would've held my attention. Great job.
Excellent documentary!! Amazing catch. Unbelievable how this can be done year after year and still catch so many large fish.
Solid documentary. From my experience it's right on the money. Thank you for your effort.
Such a buttery guitar groove at the end

Awesome Video TY For Sharing.
As a commercial fishermen myself it is great to see a film that captures the energy as well as the good attitude of the people who do this for a living.
Awesome video...thanks for making it!!
Lost many friends to this business . I stayed home for one trip. Boat went down, all hands lost! I can still see the smiling faces . RIP.
I came close. The boat broached and 2 of us were washed overboard. Next wave deposited both of us back on board.
Hope u both bought lottery tickets. RIP to those lost
Thanks for this insightful documentary. Keep up the good work!

Great team/crew, Cool catch, Awesome video......Good job y'all...
As a sport fisherman, I’m not a huge fan of long liners but understand the how and why of what they do. Cool video and great documentary, also get that poor guy a decent wetsuit, if he is going to enter the food chain and possibly get eaten by something he might as well be warm while doing it……tight lines!
the best bro.. this is the first time to see a fishing documentary.. great video.. Thanks.

I’ve enjoyed watching this video more than most I’ve seen even the ones on big budget documentaries! Great job!
That was Awesome !
love the backwards scene with the sauce ............
An awesome movie! I just wished, however, that the scenes were a bit a longer. Shots kept flipping very quickly. Other than that, I still enjoyed it very much.
There's a really nice restaurant right where the boats park at Honolulu harbor. Oahu. Nice
Thank you I enjoyed the video.
That crewman diver was very courageous.
Great video boss.

Very Nice Documentary *
Great Picture Quality *
Great Video !
Ive been a Fisherman for going on 20 years and this is probably the best film i have seen that brings the truth on how things really are out there. I love how this was shot with that old school feel to it. I dont know what @Josh Stewart was talking about, I thought your voice sounded solid and matched the old school feel perfectly.
enjoyed this a lot
the 196 haters dont know this is the best way to fish, its really sustainable, not as bad as trawling
just because one person is using a butterknife to kill the worlds natural 'last frontiers' beauty, doesn't make one any better than another using a butchers knife.
think about this carefully before you reply, i know you will need a lot of time to process this.
ntwa dumela I would much rather be cut with a sharp knife ! Its people like you that don't know or have a clue about what you are talking about. I have Swordfished a long time over 20 years. When you don't understand is because you don't know. Next time you're eating fish think about where it came from and how it was caught.
joey presnell why are you replying when you don't even understand my point? it doesn't matter if you use a blunt butterknife or a sharp butchers knife you are still killing, that is the point to the original post saying "this is the best way to fish"
and you don't understand where this is filmed, honalulu (hawaii) and guess who the fishermen are? ASIAN.
this is happening all over the pacific, asians corperates bribe small pacific island officials to be able to fish in their waters. the islanders lose out, their habitat is overfished and most of the fish will be exported to where the real demand is ASIA.
this isn't catching for what you need, this is fishing for a bigger demand in other expanding countries.
so how about you mind your own business, you can't see the forest for the trees in your stupid remark "Next time you're eating fish think about where it came from"
my country regulates its waters and isn't corrupt. YOU don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
What a dumb fuck you are, these lines are the reason why many sea birds are dropping in numbers like they've been hit by the plague.
You don't have a f-in clue do you? Sustainable my assh-le Sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and countless other WASTE fish are DISCARDED drowned animals hooked for days on long lines You are deluded and need really to learn the reality of this trade
Wonderful clip. I very much enjoy it.
Bloody good documentary

verry nice documentary sir... keep up the goodjob.... =)
That's one bad dude right there. That was very dangerous going under a heaving boat. Not to mention going into propeller housing.
great job !
`That was awesome man!
Awesome Doc man those are some impressive swords and good to see a positive Doc on commercial fishing.
Great! amazing job!
Guys handline is actully so much more efficient, they release the every fish except swordfish, trawler ships takes millions of fish and destroy reefs and habitats everyday, 100000ss of undersize fish and unwanted fish go to waste. great documentary!
+Robert b b Dont even try explaining to them, they are against people making a living. The idiot above thinks that shark died, instead of listening to what the guy said, he makes his own conclusion. Who cares anyway, it's a shark that is not endangered and the shark swam away with little damage from the hook. This is actually one of the safest ways to fish for swordfish. Hawaii'an based ships have gotten great at eliminating bird and turtle bycatch but these people have to make a living and fishing is one of the few ways to do it for people in the Pacific islands and East Asia
This isn't handlining tho
Very Nice Documentary.. Most enjoyable to watch, and to understand all the hard work that goes into Long Line Fishing for Swords...
thanks for the video...
I got the feelings that i'm watching Dances with wolves, thank you that was interesting
Great video posting.....this gives one a slight insight into what goes on out there....a lot of respect to those fishermen....just hope the captain pays them well, they deserve good money !!!!!
Are there size limits and/or seasons on sword fish?
This must be filmed in international waters so far from shore.
Are there any international quota reg's?
Well done....Bravo! No BS, just the straight story bout some hard working dudes. Those were some fine looking fish, come on!!!!
Hey G rant haua , Take it from a New Zealand swordfish & tuna fisherman , There`s no shortage of swordfish & big Tuna in nz`s waters !!! Just have to know where & how to catch them ,
