  • If I had to choose one fits-for-all excercise for double bass, this one would probably be it! Four different speeds that all require a different technique over a simple half-time beat. Audio from Iphone. Let me know what you think!

Nice job! Shall we get a tutorial or lesson video someday?

Wow you are a real professional! Great technique. I was wondering if you had a microphone recording your bass drum during this video or is it just the acoustic volume? I am shopping for an EMAD and I am wondering if they are loud enough without amplification. Thank you in advance.

Thanks a lot man! This is 100% audio from my Iphone only so you are hearing just the acoustic sound here. I can highly recommend EMAD! :)

My absolute struggle in 1 minute of video. I really want to get a proper double pedal technique but there are so many different minimal muscles to workout that the learning curve feels so steep. A combination of "I need to grind this" and being unsure if you're doing it right at all so I'm scared to be getting bad habits :(
    Great technique by the way!

I feel your struggle! What helped me was just disregarding the technique and trying to follow some songs that I liked even though they were way too difficult for me. There's a lot lot more to drumming than just the technique and executing everything perfectly, it's all about the feeling for me! Just enjoy the process and you'll get there eventually 😎💪🏽

Honestly this is the best approach. Knowing about the technique doesn’t mean you’ll be able to do it right way. But it does mean that after you spend hundreds of hours practicing, you will know you are getting closer.
The only way to learn is just to put the time in, have fun, and things will work themselves out.

Very nice and consistent timing. The pedals are the P-3002D ?

So beautiful! But aren't you contracting your calves muscles from 0:10 and further? Looks to me like they're working too.

Thank you! Yes, you are right. For me, it actually makes ankle technique much more efficient when you keep the pressure and use calves instead of the weaker shin muscles. :) In full leg motion obviously some calf contraction is needed to create the movement. Not entirely the same type of calf contraction at each tempo but definitely some in all of them!
