It was scraped because of funding and the collapse of the Soviet union, and so the company decided to just use there own funds to make it, so it's not really appropriate to so that it was canceled just because of thrust vectoring or because of the switch to medium to long range missle usage

That is taken into consideration and the wing is designed to flex in a way that further enhances the degree of turn.
