🪶 Wylan’s story had me soo emotional and I do agree the ending was perfect. I read this duology before reading shadow and bone and honestly I felt the same in terms of not understanding grisha and I was hoping that reading shadow and bone would answer all my questions and still it has not. I feel like that’s the only flaw with the grishaverse is that it just needs a little more explaining
I've been waiting for this reading VLOG since February when you said you were going to read them 😂😂 Also, I haven't read Crooked Kingdom yet but I already know it's gonna wreck my soul and I'm ready for it.
I just read the duology and am making a reading vlog? And I agree with everything you said. Basically, I’m posting this exact same video in a week, ha! Also, when I read Six of Crows yeeeears ago, I gave it 4 stars. But on the reread, I’m giving it 5 stars. So I agree with what you said about probably rating it higher upon reread. Cause you fall in love with the characters
Ahhh I just read these for the first time too and they are SOOO worth the hype. I’m so glad you liked them too! And Wylan also snuck into my heart and decided to live there rent-free 🔐🗡🔫💣✨🐺
I'm sooooooooo happy you enjoyed them so much!!! I read them both in February, and it is my all time favorite series now. The characters are just AMAZING, and I didn't know any of the spoilers going into it, so that really helped my enjoyment for it. I read the Grisha trilogy after I read Six of Crows and I'm so happy I did, because I MUCH preferred Six of Crows, and if I had read Shadow and Bone first, it would've taken me AGES to get to Six of Crows. I'm so, so happy that you enjoyed it!!!
im a huge shadow and bone stan so i was worried about this video lol- but im so glad you like it. can't wait until you get to the king of scars duology!
i've not read any of the grishaverse books, but i'm happy that you enjoyed this duology after wanting to read it for so long! i've always been intrigued by this series, but i've been unsure whether to read the original shadow and bone trilogy first when loads of people don't like it? i'm excited for the netflix series though, the trailers look so good!
I liked the audiobooks for the trilogy so that might be a good way to read them!! Idk I’m glad I read them but at the same time didn’t enjoy them so idk if I would recommend😂😂
Yay! So glad you finally got around to reading and loving these. On goodreads it says "six of crows #3" to be written many years down the line..... so maybe we will get to spend some more time with these characters, hopefully.
LETSSSS GOOOO six of crows reading vlog!!! Listen six of crows transcends all areas of the book community!! No matter what platform booktok, book Twitter, etc, everyone agrees six of crows is good💜💜💜 shadow and bone is the Middle Ages but six of crows is the renaissance!!
I loved the shadow and Bone series but I can definitely understand why people don't like it. The first time I read the duology of Six of Crows, I loved Six of Crows more. Actually I should say the second time. Because I reread the Six of crows again before reading Crooked Kingdom for the first time. I just reread the duology again, and I actually preferred Crooked Kingdom more. My favorite 3 are, Inez, Jesper, and Kaz. Then Wylan, and Nina are tied. Matthias is my less favorite. But I love them all. Can't wait to see what you think of King of Scars and Rule of Wolves. My favorite of those 2 where Rule of Wolves. King of Scars is my least favorite of all of those 3 stories. And I DNF Ninth House but I do plan on trying to pick it back up at some time. I am hoping it was just because I wasn't in the mood for it. Or because of how dark the book was. But since trying to read that book, I have read much darker things. I use to not read dark books, but I have been trying to read out of my comfort zone. Great vlog. 👍
I’ve never click so fast in my life. I’m currently reading Rule of Wolves and I’m just going to say that you should definitely do another vlog for the King of Scars duology
🦅 wowow i feel like we had the same reading experience with these books. I also neeeed to know where the jesper/wylan story goes !! and i read king of scars praying for a scrap of info about them but there was nothing 😪 ms bardugo, please feed us!!
I don't think I've ever read such well written characters in fantasy books, while I didn't give the books five stars, I'm still absolutely in love with these characters. I also completely agree with you that it is so confusing, I felt lost inside the Grishaverse? edit: omg I could not choose my favorite, but Inej - yes, she is incredible.
I‘m so glad you liked it 🤍 Now I really wanna reread the duology, maybe i‘ll try the audiobooks this time around :) Even though i looove the og grisha trilogy i definitely agree with your opinions about it and also think that it adds to Six of Crows 🦅
i have the exact same thoughts as you regarding Shadow and Bone vs Six of Crows. I read SoC first and LOVED it. I just recently read SaB for the first time and it just didn't do it for me. ESPECIALLY NOT RUIN AND RISING I WAS SO PISSED FOR THE LAST 50 PAGES SO DISAPPOINTED
I’m just finishing ruin and rising now, and I started the trilogy right before the series came out… Ive gotta say that siege and storm gave me a much harder time than ruin and rising or shadow and bone, I’m actually enjoying this one a lot though. I’m having a blast taking notes and trying to predict what happens (I have less than 100 pages left). Granted, it’s not great, and not nearly as good as six of crows duology, but I’d rate them 3, 2, and maybe 4 for the last one. Don’t know if anyone had a similar experience?
I was waiting for you to cry at the end of Crooked Kingdom 😂😭 that ending made me SOB! I would be interested in your thoughts on King of Scars because I kind of hated it 🤐 🐦
I’m super scared to read this series bc I hated ninth house, I almost dnfed but ended up giving it 1 star for the main girls name. But like everyone loves this so much I might just have to give in
Been curious about these books since last year then forgot about it, I just watched the Netflix adaptation of Shadow and Bone last week and remembered it. I'm actually more interested with their story than the shadow and bone trilogy so I ordered mine right away after watching this! 🤧❤
I accidentally found out about the spoiler in Crooked Kingdom that you were crying over when I was watching one of Cindy's videos and one of her videos was roasting her about sobbing at the ending of Crooked Kingdom. I still need to read these books! 😬 I've also tagged you in my most recent video (The Spoiler Tag) :D And here's a penguin 🐧
I haven’t read this or the Shadow and Bones trilogy yet. I read the first in the Shadow and Bones trilogy and just ignored everything else because I didn’t like it.
Hahah yeah, if you didn’t like shadow and bone I would say maybe just skip the original trilogy?? It helps with some understanding but not enough to put itself through something ur not enjoying! I did like the audiobooks tho if that helps!
You really had me worried in the firsts few seconds of the video that you might have hated it. Also who didn’t cry during THAT part. I remember I had been using a napkin as a bookmark and ended up haveingn to use it to wipe my nose from how hard I cried. I have the same exact Leigh bardugo opinions as you. Shadow and bone was very meh for me but I love ninth house and the SoC duology. I read king of scars and... I have similar feelings about it that I had about the original trilogy. If you struggle with the grisha magic system, brace yourself, it’s gonna get blown apart and she breaks every rule about magic that we’ve learned in all the previous books. There’s a huge chunk in king of scars that just had me going WTF is going on, and I just had to push through which was disappointing
I definitely feel like only listening to the audiobook of six of crows was a mistake, I think I need to physically read it, because I miss A LOT of things and it made the story confusing to me :)
i feel like you should at least read the first book of shadow & bone before you can read six of crows because most of the things are not explained and just assumes you already know it from the first trilogy. i only remember the first book so starting six of crows was not confusing for me but when i recommended it to my sibling, he said he cant get thru it cause he does not understand a lot the magic system etc.
I loved Six of Crows, I'm loving the Crooked Kingdom even more (literally stoped at 60 pages to the end bc I don't want it to end. I don't understand how Leigh Bardugo wrote such an awesome duology and a terrible trilogy (S&B sucks!)
I stopped listening to the audiobook because they messed up the Dutch pronunciation. And the narrators tried “Dutch” accent, which sounded like someone mocking Russian accent. It’s soooo bad! It’s Audible exclusive, how they messed up like that?!
I hated the audiobook. You have 6 actors doing 6 different impressions of the other 6 character and the characters never leave each other's sight and so it can be jarring
😠😒🙄 If I see ONE more person say you're not supposed to ship Kaz and Inej. Like, what is that, some weird gatekeeping? They're a fucking romantic pair. Just because they *spoiler* Have issues with touch, they're not a ship???? You can 100% ship them, ignore those ppl.
I liked the first book and had to read the second to tie up loose ends. I thought it was getting predictable (Kaz plans a heist, literally none of it goes to the plan, Kaz has a secret other plan, everything ends up OK) I was starting to question things (how do you still have $$ for this after months of failed heists and not getting paid) There was soo much backstory that I started to skip pages on pages because I just wanted to get back to the current story. I get that backstory is good, but it was just too much in every chapter. Each chapter was like the next 5 minutes of action and 15 pages of remember their childhood. I also felt the ending was too long and nearly tied up. I know that's a crowd pleaser and is better than leaving thing open-ended... But personally Kaz and Inez at the end felt a little too goodie-goodie too fast for their relationship.
Kaz is like Lego Batman, all "DARKNESS! DEAD PARENTS!" and "CAN'T GET CLOSE TO ANYONE EMOTIONALLY BECAUSE REASONS", lol
my angsty king 🤍
"I don't really want to be sitting here talking to you, I just want to be reading it" WHAT A MOOD

GOOOOOOOD BC I DOOOO
@@megwithbooks SHIP ALLLLL THE CHARACTERS haha
Kaz is my favourite character from this duology.
Same 😂
Kaz is totally my favorite. I think it’s just the PTSD ridden main character energy that I love. He’s also ruthless and badass and we love that.
I love Kaz but Wylan is super underrated too
Those are gorgeous editions!

I just finished reading them for the first time the other day. I binge watched the show and fell in love with Kaz and Inej and needed more.
I just started watching it but the acotar/cruel prince.. meme had me pressing the like button so fast. I don't regret it, I know I'm gonna love it.
