What a fun event and haul! I am a vegetarian and that cookbook looks beautiful. Library book sales are such a treasure hunt.

Hi Angelia, I didn’t know you were a vegetarian. It seems as I get older, I eat less and less meat. I am lactose intolerant so I also eat very little dairy. Yes, library book sales are the best. Thank you so much for watching. Aloha friend.

Aloha, Marilyn - I love Friends of the Library sales and just went to a big one the beginning of June. All three of the libraries in short driving distance to me have small Friends stores right inside open everyday. Great prices and always changing selection. I pick up jigsaw puzzles as well. By the way, wanted to let you know I read Like a Mule Bringing Ice Cream to the Sun and enjoyed it very much. I’m also about halfway through Nilda, which is making me both sad and pretty angry. I’ve always been rebellious toward authority figures and there are several people in the book whose necks I’d like to wring! Thank you for recommending these books. Your haul today is very eclectic - Phillip Roth, Shakespeare, Agatha Christie and chicken soup!😂

Great book haul, Marilyn! Library sales are the source of most of my books. My last sale netted a bankers box for $5. It worked out to about 17 cents per book. I love reading plays too, but can't recall if I've read that Agatha Christie play or not. I do, coincidentally, have a bookmark from the Hollywood branch of the Samuel French Theatre & Film Bookshop. Samuel French has been publishing plays since the late 19th century I think. You'll like Henry V. I read the play after seeing Kenneth Branagh's movie of it. That Kawabata book was a good find. I can't that one anywhere! Aloha and happy reading, friend!

Hello Barbara, and thank you so much for telling me the origin of the Samuel French publishing company. I’m so happy you read plays too. Sometimes I feel alone in that, besides Shakespeare, of course. I’m excited to read Henry V I’ve also read The Death of a Salesman this year and all of Neil Simon‘s plays last year.
I love the term bankers box and you certainly got a good deal. In Hawaii, 50 Cent a book is the cheapest you would ever see at any sale. Everything costs more here.
Thank you so much for watching and for your interesting comments. Aloha friend.

I love Shakespeare, I saw King Lear in London with Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh and Richard Briers. My daughter (now an adult) had difficulty focusing on the plays so I bought her the graphic book of Macbeth which was a whole other perspective! I still have the book and it still makes me laugh.

Hello Janet, I am so jealous of you seeing king Lear, with Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh. I’m partial to King Lear because I was a teenager when I saw it and I was mesmerized by the story in the actors. I’ve just become interested in graphic novels so I might look into the Macbeth graphic novel you mentioned.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Aloha friend.

Hi Marilyn, I love Library sales ! I always find something interesting for me or my son to read. I especially love old books with annotations, and secret notes,or recipes left behind as book markers. You have found some great finds. I don't cook, nor am I a Vegetarian, but that cookbook looks like it has some very delicious recipes. I've always been intimidated by Shakespeare, although,I love "A Midsummer's Night's Dream " . I have read some Philip Roth novels in the 70's,mostly about coming of age in those times. I look forward to your upcoming videos.Enjoy the Summer, and your new finds ! Happiness, Cindy🌻

Hello Cindy, I have found some amazing jewels in old books. My favorite was a letter from one friend to another recommending the book and talking about their past experiences.
Thank you so much for your support for my channel. Aloha friend.

Great haul. I have no problem with having Shakespeare in the original alongside "plain English" if it makes it accessible to more readers. Henry V was one of the Shakespeare books we read in school, we also read Macbeth Julius Caesar and Richard II. I had never read a Shakespeare Comedy until last September, when I read A Midsummer Night's Dream for Shaketember. And Then There Were None is often ranked as Agatha Christie's best work, I hope you enjoy reading the play version. Aside from Shakespeare, I don't read plays, I think school put me off reading the format.

Hi Jim, we read Romeo and Juliet in high school. Shakespeare is a little intimidating to me. I’m not gonna lie. But I’m excited about this version.
Another interesting fact about and then there were none was it was one of Agatha Christie’s favorites of her own books. She also thought “endless night“ and death on the Nile were her Of best work.Thank you so much for Watching. Aloha friend.
