Very beautiful bowl. Love the color on the rim. I agree, paint it first then cut in the bowl. I do wide rim bowls with Jo Sonja iridescent paints over black paint. I use flat black and I spray paint it running around 4-500rpm. If you spray at the right angle you don’t get over spray on the back. I paint the rim then cut the bowl. flat black is cheap and you can apply it in seconds and it dries fast. Great video. I’m going through quite a few of yours now. Enjoying the ride. Take care, Scott
Thank you so much for the ideas on how to paint the rim of the bowl Scott! I'm going to make another one of these soon! And thank you so much for watching my videos! They definitely aren't the greatest, (I've only been turning for a few years), and I know there are better videos for learning, but they help me see my progress as a turner! Heather 🇨🇦
Variable speed, rotating head lathe ... a great turner ... an amazing imagination ... artistic ... I'm not envious at all 🤣 The matt black paint on the rim is perfect (maybe try burning the next time), the dot painting is simple in concept but it just looks soooooo good ... overall another beautiful piece 👍
Ooh, so brave ! Good solid lathe like yours helps a lot eh? But the finished bowl ? *Wow* ! The moment it appeared at the end I was taken by how beautiful it was Heather ! The black was the perfect choice to make the delicate dotwork stand out. Outstanding ! Thanks for sharing. Take care. -Mike
