BIG price increases with what seems like diminishing quality.... have you had a similar experience? I'd love to get your thoughts on this topic below...
Totally agree with you. I bought an envelope clutch last month from Saint Laurent store. Checked the bag but the wristlet was wrapped in foam so I didn’t open it up. Got home, unboxed and I found a little hole on the wristlet 😂😂 I then came to exchange the item and was given another bag with slightly wrinkled flap near the stitchings. It was one of the last ones at the store then so I gave up at that time and tried to ignore the flaw. Seems like I’m not the only with bad experience with YSL lately 😢
I ordered Bvlgari logo tote from their site a couple of months ago and the handle broke off right in the middle of unboxing! I just could not believe it... I have another bag from them and I am very happy with its quality, but this one was a disaster. So, I returned and did not even tried to get a replacement. I just bought new Givenchy Antigona Lock bag instead, which I really love!
I was recently in Burberry and fell in love with one of their side bags, but they only had the display bag left and that’s the one that they wanted to sell me . They weren’t even willing to offer me a discount despite the fact that bag has been handled, God knows how many times, and had signs of wear. I don’t see a problem in selling display items, but they should be heavily discounted.
Go to Neiman Marcus instead, they’re a lot more accommodating when it comes to things like that. Going to the brand itself, they will not do a discount on a display because they don’t think the same way as you do.
I feel for you ,I’ve been through all these issues. Replicas are mass produced as well and has better QC! The higher these greedy luxury brand increase, the more people will buy replicas. I don’t see any valid reason for them to keep increasing, COACH’s quality has always been consistent and they never increase their prices ridiculously!
Preach! I have to save up for “luxury” purchases so I typically only buy one bag a year. I went to LV in October to buy a Lockme tender and I remember having anxiety about having a nice SA and getting a “good” bag. At these prices that should not be a concern. Which has made me fall in love with brands like Aspinal of london and polene. They came from another country (I’m in the US) and I had no worries or problems. The quality is on par with higher end brands, just minus the status of having an LV or CC ob the bag. I understand they don’t hold investment value but I buy bags for me and don’t resell them. It’s something that’s made me think about where my money goes 🤷🏻♀️
I completely agree with you Melissa! I have stopped buying from luxury brands for a while now. The bags I was dreaming of buying are not on my radar anymore, because with these prices increases, I would be scared to go around with a chanel bag. I understand some people look at the resale value, but if I am not able to enjoy the bag, because it costs so much with put anxiety on me when I am out, I will stop using it eventually. I have moved to other mid range brands as well like Aspinal. The customer service was as good as the service I got from LV, and I love the bags I am now adding to my wardrobe.
@@bridgetd8528 I watched a lot of reviews before ordering one. I now have two. If they come out with more designs I like I would absolutely order more. They’re beautiful quality and my bags came from Spain within two to three days. I love how different their designs are and understated. Definitely one of those “if you know you know” brands. Watch some videos! If you decide to go for it I hope you love them as much as I do!
I have been wanting a lou camera bag for years .. the bag is 100% not worth the $1700 price tag. I luckily found one pre loved for $950. It's so crazy!
I just returned a cinnamon suede loulou because the handles were noticeably two different colors and the texture of the suede on the handle with the incorrect color was wrong (it was almost furry and really rough). I bought it on FWRD right before the price increase, and with a 20% off coupon, which made it around $1950. The bag now retails for $3200. FWRD sold out and I still wanted the bag so I took it into a Saint Laurent store. They wouldn’t exchange it for me even with it being brand new in the packaging. They told me if I bought it from Saks, Nordstrom, or another store in the mall they could have done the exchange for me. That made no sense to me because they even admitted that FWRD is an authorized seller, so it still came direct from YSL. I called their customer service and they wouldn’t help me at all. They basically told me that I would need to return the bag with FWRD and pay full price for the new one, which would be $1,250 more. I just decided to return it. I don’t want to support companies who sell inferior products and won’t stand behind them (particularly when its a $3k purse). I am actually upset that I just bought a lou camera bag before this happened.
As to why brands can get away with charging more for less quality, well you answered your own question. You are going to keep buying their products. Brands are not going to change anything if people keep buying their products no matter what.
Ferragamo is good brand. And lately they have been having more updated handbag styles. I've been really liking the direction they're going with ther handbag styles. And the quality is always good. I just ordered the Mini Studio. Bloomingdale's had olive color on sale plus $375 gift card.
@@seagreen2034 Yes, they have. That Mini Studio used to be $1980. I wanted to buy it in Hawaii because it's 10% less. But then they had a price increase. Mini studio went up to $2200. But they do go on sale so I just waited. There's a new beige color for fall/winter that I like. But that won't go on sale for probably a year. Olive color is on sale at Bloomingdale's for $1540. Plus I will get a $375 gift card.
I prefer to go into the store and inspect the bag before purchasing. That way you know for sure that it is in great condition. I purchased the Cassandra bag a few months ago. I got to look at every inch of it prior to purchasing. With Saint Laurent, it’s better to go to the store.
It’s just so disappointing that we even have to think of doing this. A luxury bag and I’m worried about stitching & quality control? Is the logo worth it anymore?
If you really love the bag exchange it. This is happening across most of the brands. I don’t order online. I go into the store for purchases so I can see my bag in person. I purchase from LV more than any other brand and my CA always checks my bag thoroughly.
I am honestly surprised. I love ysl, have a few of their bags and the quality is what I enjoy most about them. Granted I have had them for 4-5 years now. So maybe they went the Chanel way, mass producing & churning as mamy as possible. That would be such a shame!
I'm also suprised this has happened twice, I do love YSL so I can only hope they have higher standards for online orders. It seems like they're trying to get rid of stock they know no-one would buy in store
One of the reasons why I started to buy luxury brands was a super quality they used to have. Beside design that was the most important thing to me. Now when I see that there are more and more quality issues with 3 times price increases per year I think I cooled down from giving them my money until they change their ways. I have Speedy from 2004 that I bought preloved and I am really not taking any special care of it and canvas and hardware are still like new. I bought Clemence wallet in monogram canvas one year ago and quality is disaster, all hardware is scratched and canvas is cracking on edges. Although it is a wallet, I take really good care of if, I am keeping keys in a special pouch inside of the bag so nothing could damage it. Before I had a wallet from Furla for 2 years and with the same type of usage it still looks like new. I paid Furla 60€ and LV almost 400€, for that price that is unacceptable.
Hello Steph :) Not only for bag as quality issues last week I bought 2 Trousers from Giorgio Armani, I wear it once each and the pants the sewing unstitched.... It's my 1st time buying Italian suits trousers for the quality of the fabric... It's seems even Luxury now is not like it was before.. Too Bag... I wish you a nice day. Anaïs
I’ve luckily never been in the same situation with SL. Have bought 3 bags from them online in the last year and all of them have been perfect, but I do think you have raised a valid point as demand increases QC will be going down just through shear volume of bags being produced. It is NEVER acceptable to be sent an ex display model
100 % agree with your opinion! I think we need to hold these designers accountable for quality merchandise- otherwise, why spend the money for a product that is NOT quality.
Yikes that bag looks like it's 20 years old and been on a world cruise. I don't know how that would get sent out, I am sorry this happened to you especially as you take such good care of your bags. X
I once ordered the Toy Lou Lou directly from their website and what I had received was astonishing as well! The leather strap literally looked like a dog chewed it, half dangling for dear life. I was completely shocked that a luxury brand could send me such a mangled destroyed bag! Someone from the QC department needs to be fired!
I ordered a YSL camera bag from Saks, and the hardware was SO tarnished I sent it back and the replacement had the same problem. I get it's a reseller but was still disappointing! I have zero problems with price increases; I fully understand that the costs for many things have gone up. The cost for the raw leather has increased, costs to transport goods is higher, workers are demanding higher wages due to inflation. All of these things lead to higher priced goods. However, 18% increases multiple times a year are above and beyond the increased costs to produce the goods and are just wringing extra money out of their customers. If you are buying something brand new at those prices, the expectation is that the bag should be perfect. The poor quality definitely has me considering (and buying) other less pricey brands. Recently got a bag from Mulberry after hearing you and several others say how much they loved their bags and how good the quality is, and was not disappointed. My new Mulberry is great!
I kid you not Steph, here in Asia, if Chanel has a launch, i was told if one want to get anything from that launch, one has to pay the price in full, then leave the item there for display till the season ends only one can collect the item purchased. Meaning pay in full, let everyone touch, see while in display especially handbag that has not many pieces or even worst just 1 piece or so. No way i will ever want to do that. Now this YSL, i guess someone may have even used it. How can the leather at the handle be torn even on display. Literally someone has used it then put it back for sale. Is really crazy. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so upset with Saint laurent the last 2 pieces I received were defective and I have sadly been turned off by the brand completely. The leather peeling in 2 bags back to back is a hugeee problem especially with the huge price increases!! I've been loving LV lately because my CA is super thorough with my purchases and I always buy in store and inspect as well.
Sadly It seems to be normal in this world now, lesser quality for more money, and we are just supposed to put up with it. I do tend to speak out more these days though (“usually” politely) when something’s not right 😊 xx
I really like YSL and can’t believe you were sent those bags. Those bags are so unacceptable and look used and should never been sold as new. I’m one of those people who inspect the bag thoroughly when I purchase in store but I know you can’t do that when purchasing online. Luckily you were able to return and get your money back. I think these brands will find if they continue lacking quality the consumers will stop purchasing from their brand. Like you mentioned this has happened twice so you might shop elsewhere. I look forward to your video on other handbags that are made with quality but a better price point. I have no problem leaving the high luxury brands. 😊❤️
I get why you’d want to exchange the bag again, but “fool me twice…” so I dunno. Such a dilemma. So disappointing how luxury brands now have inconsistent quality. It just puts to emphasis that luxury bags are more for the image/brand market rather than quality. Thanks for sharing your story with us.
I never buy online. I go to store and I'm sure the bag I get will be perfect. At least it is my experience in Las Vegas where in YSL store they checked all my bag and gave me the best one without any damages.
Hey Steph ! I had the exact same issue with my Loulou bag . I bought it in store but the bag was wrapped and given to my husband without showing him the final piece. When I opened it up ( it was a gift and meant to be a surprise ) I was mortified ! The bag had these wrinkles and two ink marks . I was so disappointed and upset . Rushed back to the store and they have assured a new piece which is yet to arrive . This is not good at all so I share the sentiment with you .
Oh no, so sorry to hear that! It is really disappointing, they should be checked and only the best quality pieces make their way to customers. Keep me updated I hope you get your perfect loulou soon.
I worked for a midrange brand in Germany (prices range between 150€ to 800€ per bag). We also sold display bags for full price unless they had signs of use or other imperfections. We were allowed to give some discount….but only 10-15 percent.
I’ve had similar issues unfortunately. It was with the small puffer bag but i purchased it online from a well known department store. The bag in my opinion must have been ex-display. It wasn’t wrapped in any of the usual protective packaging, the leather had wrinkles and seemed to be slightly worn in places. Having purchased other Saint Laurent bags online i was aware of how their brand new bags are usually packed. Considering i’d paid full price i was very dissappointed and ended up returning it.
This is why I buy my luxury bags from luxury consignment shops. I just bought a new YSL Kate that still had the Saks tag on it for hundreds below their recent markup to $2400! I let hubby buy the ones.
So so true! I just received my niki baby and there's a scratch/dent on the YSL logo on the bag. This was after I exchanged the bag! The initial bag had a scratch on the lower bottom part of the bag. Even before the price increase, YSL prices aren't cheap either, they're still 1000+ gbp/usd/eur, etc. yet the quality is disappointing. Didn't think that I'd have to exchange a bag I ordered twice :(.
Hi Steph! I totally agree with you about the ridiculousness of these price increases. I understand that costs to produce these bags keep increasing, but not enough to justify these kinds of mark ups. I’ve purchased all of my luxury bags on the Preloved market because there is no way I can afford to pay full retail nor would I want to. I usually pays less than half of retail for practically brand new bags. My COACH and Polène bags were purchased new but COACH offers discounts all the time and Polène’s prices are much lower than Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton. I love my SL & LV bags but there is no way I’d pay full retail. Preloved is definitely the way to go!
Quality is a Huge problem across the board when it comes to luxury fashion houses. I purchased a shoulder strap from Fendi a couple of weeks ago, when I opened the package the strap was used, scratches everywhere. I immediately called customer service and they were like...we're sorry as soon as we get your return we will ship another one out to you...we're talking about waiting at least more weeks. I was like NO. I'm just going to return it!!
I’m wondering if it’s more due to customer service going downhill and them not catching these bags before they go out. I just notice everything is getting more expensive now and customer service going way down. I’ve been panic buying as well before these price increases!
Bought my lou camera bag last year. It was only $1200 plus. Now already almost $1700. I love my Ysl It’s durable my every day bag. I only use my Chanel Dior and expensive Louis Vuitton on special events or occasions.
Yessss, tell them, Steph!! I cannot believe the awful condition those bags were in. The medium Lou Lou was the first luxury bag I ever bought new. I bought it from Bloomingdale’s during their holiday gift card promotion, and when it arrived, the leather had noticeable wrinkling/lines all over the front and an indent in the side. I was super disappointed and sent it back. Granted this was not the company itself, but shameful as well that such a high end store would send out a damaged bag, which was not even in a YSL box, btw! The bag was in its dust bag rattling around inside the brown shipping box without enough packing to keep it in place. I returned it and ordered directly from the YSL website. Thankfully, it arrived impeccably packed and gift-wrapped. To your point, it’s like there’s just too much product being moved these days and the QC just isn’t there.
I have slowed my luxury purchases. In the past year, I received a luxury bag with a pen mark on it and a luxury wallet that was used with the former customer's receipt inside. Unbelievable. I retuned both because the customer service and quality control is not there! I really worried I would be to blame. I cannot trust the item will be in perfect condition unless I purchase in the store. I feel your frustration!
I feel like this brand used to to be TOP quality when it was still Yves Saint Laurent. After Hedi Slimane and dropping the "Yves" from the brand name, there has been so much quality issues and of course the prices are from totally different universe than back then. I have 3 clutches from the old YSL and they are still looking amazing after 10 years of owning and using them. My only Saint Laurent bag is Mini Lou camera bag and it got some marks on the leather after the first time wearing it... and let me tell you, I am super careful with my bags. 😱
I’m looking to buy a bag when I go to Paris next week. Trying to decide between YSL Lou Lou or Kelly or Celine Triomphe or 16. And I think I’m going to go go with Celine. The YSL Lou Lou was $1600 a couple years ago when I was looking to buy one and it’s gone up quite a bit since then. I feel like I might as well splurge a little more on the Celine bc I haven’t heard any complaints about their quality.
We need to consider at some point what are we doing to our hard earned money, I started getting second love handbags because there’s no way those increases are worth it.
If people keep buying Brands continue don’t care about the quality. When no one buy the brand is gonna be a big hit but people continue buying I don’t own anything from YSL Thanks babe
I had a similar experience with poor quality online. I ordered a designer bag during a sale at Net A Porter. It was missing the inside pocket zipper pull and something was off about the way it was wrapped (not new?)I contacted them for a return as they said it was the last in stock. it took well over a month of repeated contact on my part to get a refund done. I won’t use Net A Porter due to this.
Hi, the nature of loulou leather will wrinkle as you keep using it, but of cuz i do feel u especially when it is new or first got it. But bear in mind, definitely it will wrinkle over time as u use it
My YSL LouLou is suede so I think that doesn't wrinkle as much. I still have Fendi Spy bags. I have problems with the opening to the spy part (the tube) coming open and I have had to glue it. Also, one time a whole part of the leather came undone it was not stitched it was glued. I buy Chanel preloved now, because the HW in no longer covered with real gold. I have also heard Chanel quality is going down,
That sounds like someone returned s used bag. They have the nerve for extreme price increases? There has been talk about YSL expected price increases due to Chanel extreme price increases, which makes many customers opt for YSL it seems that since most brands have beco.e monopolized quality control and customer service is in decline, while prices increase excessively. Notacceptable. It's also possible that they are compensating for economic losses due to the Balenciaga boycotts.
If you get a chance, you should check out Dial M Style channel. Michelle is a former LV CA and she discusses this issue in detail. LV doesn’t have a warehouse, so if the bag you ordered online is only available in a store, they will pluck it from the display and ship it off to you. So it is definitely possible that is what happened. And no they will not “quality control” it if a CA plucks it and ships it off because that’s neither their job and also they can’t cancel your online order. If it shows it’s available, even if it is not in pristine condition, it will be shipped to you. Then you inspect and decide if it’s worth keeping. So it’s best to go to the store and inspect the one you want and buy on the spot. Also, they will pluck it from the closest store to you. They won’t select the best bag, etc.
Well said!!! I have stop shopping because it doesn’t make sense to me anymore!!! And I am a true lover of luxury!!! I am now an admirer from a far!!! Love this topic and great video 😍👌🏾👏🏾 that why I have always love coach!!! Their quality is better than some of my Chanel!!!
I bought the new toy Lou from farfetch and the screw on the lobster clasp fell off while I was out and I have only taken it out less than 5 times. Thankfully ysl Melbourne was able to arrange a ticket for a repair to be done sent from Italy. However it took 2 months!!! The bag was only 4 months old. Sale assistant said to bring it back again if it happens again and that he couldn’t recommend how to avoid this from happening again… I am so gutted that it took me a year to decide on this purchase and yet it was a dud anyways.
I got the YSL college bag at the boutique and a month later they had a price increase but lucky me only the bag I got had a decrease in price. Will never purchase from YSL ever again.
Before when you get some luxury stuff you also pay for quality and grate customer service , now this rule doesn’t work anymore. There are a lot of videos on RUclips showing the problems with quality of LV for example and also how they are trying to solve the problems, many people says that Chanel 10 years ago and new not the same. By the way, my friend has YSL bag and also complain about quality.
I bought a Dior bag through their official website recently for Xmas because the bag wasn’t available in store. When I received the bag I was shocked and so disappointed at the quality and condition. It was dirty stain! Cant be removed, hardware scratches and loose thread! It’s disgusting for luxury brand to treat customers like this, how could they approve this condition and charge full price for it. The inconvenience of now waiting for the return process to happen after the holiday season…
I ordered a new LV neverfull bag because my old one was getting very bad. I had it for like six years and I used it every day so I figured let me buy another one since I really love the bag and it did last me a long time .the new bag is very poor quality , nothing like the old bag . It’s only been six months and it’s starting to rip apart. The bags are more expensive now but the qualities are horrible..
Is it me or that bag does not look like real leather 😢😢😢 their quality is bad and their nerve to increase the prices 🤔 its a No from me. Sorry u had to experience this
Unfortunately I had the same experience with YSL bags. I bought three bags recently and all had to be returned due to quality issues. I decided finally to give up on a new YSL bag and ordered from Launer instead. Their bags are made to order and the quality control is very good. Have you ever considered a bag from Launer?
I bought a chanel bag and card holder this year and the leather is already tearing, my LV purchases from last year, each bag has its own issue. At this point Coach looking like a better option but even their quality went down, their leather used to be nice and thick and sturdy now its flimsy. I stopped buying bags for a bit because I just don’t like the quality out there anymore.
Yes I know it’s a characteristic of the bag but the difference between the leathers on the flap ca the body of the bag was very different. I did get a replacement and it’s completely different to this one, I don’t mind it aging but I want consistency of the leather: appreciate you sharing
That price is crazy, I have the same small loulou but in caramel brown and I bought it 2 years ago for £1200 .... the new price is nearly double watttttttt 😳😳😳
Don't get me started on the price increase versus quality decrease amongst luxury brands. Chanel, YSL, LV they've all taken a quality dive. The attitude surrounding customer service and general standards has also declined I feel. I just bought a Givency antigona soft from Harvey Nichols and when it arrived it was clearly a display bag. Dented, scratched, dusty and dirty inside. Why someone would think you'll be happy to spend that much and accept that I'll never know. Sent it straight back and was refunded without questions. 🤔
I have several St Laurent handbags and have always purchased from the boutique. However, with the Balenciaga scandal and knowing St Laurent comes from the same house, I’ve decided not to purchase them anymore. Only Chanel and LV going forward. I am actually having a difficult time selling my handbags and they are all new with my receipt in the box.
I want to buy a Sac de Jour, but the printing on the bag that says “Saint Laurent Paris” looked all fainted as if it was used. The SA assured me that’s how they come… ya right
I was just thinking about buying one but my gut feeling aid quality is crap and you confirmed it. I think Ill skip luxury bags in the future. One British company have lifetime guarantee so maybe that’s an option. I’m so tired of crap quailing luxury
My TB Kira shoulder bag is a couple of years old and has less wrinkles than that. Yikes! Return! I've had to return 2 YSL pieces in the last year because they were so banged up. Sent them back immediately and requested exchange. Received 2 in pristine condition. After that I decided that I'll only buy in person even though none of these fashion houses have a location anywhere near me, with the exception of UK based brands.
I'm not ready anymore to spend so much money just because it is not worth it I can't see the point and quality😕, but I never had issues with gucci, so I will be buying gucci👜👌
The last bag I bought was the YSL Lou Lou cinnamon suede. When it arrived there was a battery inside (HUH?) and the back was not sewn perfectly ever (L & R). Bought it on FWRD so I called them up. They were sorry and gave me another 15% off (It was already less money than other places because they bought them before the price increase). I kept it. I love it.
I wonder if some are made from leathers that perhaps were compromised in storage during the pandemic? If they bought all those hides which they then had to store due to production slowing, they’re hardly going to dump them… they’ll continue to make leather goods and just cross fingers that someone will be desperate enough to take them.
I had to send back the lock me ever MM in the griege colour to LV . I am so disappointed. A bag that is 5300 Canadian dollars with absolutely no quality control . I could find better quality at aldo . First bag was completely crooked and the LV imprint could not be seen at all . The second bag was straight however the leather was wrinkled almost looked like water stains . I love Louis Vuitton and they have let me down 100%
Maybe look into how ysl is a kering company. Owned by the same people as balenciaga. When you do your research and know what your money is supporting you won’t desire their bags anymore😬
I bought three different versions of the Lou Lou last year. All three has to be returned at least once over quality issues exactly the same as your video
That seems to be a sad trend. Luxury doesn't mean quality nowadays. I have a old YSL small Kate I bought through Gilt for a discounted price. One side of the leather next to the logo dips in and not even. Because Gilt's final sale policy I just kept it. After that I never bought anything from Gilt. I figured they were mostly selling damaged or overstock products that weren't getting sold at the stores. But I still love my Kate bag. The leather is so durable even with my careless handling. It still looks new other than the scruffs on the logo.
How disappointing that they did this again. Quality control should be a key part of the sales process. I also feel that if they are sending an ex display they should disclose that to the customer and give a % discount if the customer chooses to take a display model.
I was lucky to get an email from Matchesfashion few days ago, the small loulou bag on my wish list come back in stock. I couldn’t believe it was still old price £1570. I was expecting I would receive a return bag in bad condition, but it was perfect. Very happy!
Same situation! I’ve bought Aldo shoes (not very expensive but I spent my own money for it, so I wanted it to be a good quality) and after one (!!!) day of wearing them they became all damaged! 😞 I always wear clothes and accessories very carefully and they can be in a good condition for years, but this experience made me feel that I’ll never buy anything from this brand again. Its natural leather is too thin to use it in real life. None of my messages to Aldo were answered. So right now I’m very disappointed that such a big brand can be so indifferent to its customers :(
If my concern would be getting a good SA and a good bag (fine quality brand new well kept) when I step inside a store, I need to keep my priorities straight. I would not part with my money for a bag I am not happy with. After all, there are brands out there that may not be known as these luxury brands but are the best in quality and looks without the outrageous price tags.
I like unknown underrated leather artisans because they have reasonable prices. Plus I do not like having the same bags as the girl next to me when I go out.
YSL has had a significant price increase that I don't agree with. I definitely understand a company needing to raise their prices, but theirs is ridiculous. For example I have 2 small loulous that retailed for a little over $2,000 USD at the time. Those bags are now $2,800 USD. The Icare maxi tote that retailed for $3500 USD when it first debuted earlier this year is now $4500 USD. The medium denim LoLou I bought for $2650 USD last year, now retails for $3300 USD. I have had an epiphany where I realize I need to stop buying from these luxury brands until I feel they have done something regarding their quality. I will Njoy my collection & see what happens with these fashion houses in the future.
I had picked up the toy loulou in black couple months ago online as well and it also came used as if it was a display bag. I had to wait for another replacement, just disappointing!
This argument of higher quality and customer service for buying luxury brands just showed to be flawed. It is not the case anymore. It’s just an exploitation of the masses desire.
I have always felt that Ysl quality has been sub par. I don’t own any pieces anymore. I have tried several but just after weeks of use, I’ve noticed very poor quality and thus have returned!
I LITERALLY GOT THE BLACK HEART BAG AND THE FREAKING CHAIN POPPED ON THE FIRST DAY I WORE IT AND I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO WEAR IT SINCE PURCHASING IT 3 YEARS AGO! I HAD TO BUY A CHAIN OFF AMAZON SMH
BIG price increases with what seems like diminishing quality.... have you had a similar experience? I'd love to get your thoughts on this topic below...
Send you an IG DM about this with photos....
Dear I’m not trying to correct you or anything. But the small loulou went up $600 in the US…Not $300. It’s even more insane than you think.
This is what Chanel has been doing for the last twenty years and people keep buying their bags. Not sure how this is different.
The best is we just stop buying their products until they do something. If we do it collectively, I'm sure it will work.
Haha she will have no videos for you guys
@@charleneyeung3853 🤣
I’ve been checking out Polene recently, their bags are def timeless and classic, havent pulled the trigger on getting one yet though.
@@melissaV354 which design you got? I sold my polene umi bag, it was horribly designed.
@@bq1145 number one mini and the beri. I’ve had no issues with either.
This cannot possibly be a new YSL bag! Good Grief, how could someone think it was OK to send you this bag. I’m shook.
I bought the toy Lou Lou about 2 years ago for about $1200 and there’s absolutely no way I’d buy it today for $2000 for that tiny bag!
Wow that’s crazy
I have been wanting a lou camera bag for years .. the bag is 100% not worth the $1700 price tag. I luckily found one pre loved for $950. It's so crazy!
@@alexandrapatrick2593 agree! Glad you were able to find one for a good price!
Yup preloved is the way to go for me now with luxe brands! I’ve gravitated to designs from ‘16-‘18
I just returned a cinnamon suede loulou because the handles were noticeably two different colors and the texture of the suede on the handle with the incorrect color was wrong (it was almost furry and really rough).
"Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity." Coco Chanel
@@filmbuff000 It’s not relevant at all.
Coco had some great quotes ❤
As to why brands can get away with charging more for less quality, well you answered your own question. You are going to keep buying their products. Brands are not going to change anything if people keep buying their products no matter what.
Ferragamo is good brand. And lately they have been having more updated handbag styles. I've been really liking the direction they're going with ther handbag styles. And the quality is always good. I just ordered the Mini Studio. Bloomingdale's had olive color on sale plus $375 gift card.
I love Ferragamo bags too. Definitely an underrated brand. Their prices have been creeping up however.
Yes, I totally agree. Plus its a much nicer experience
It’s just so disappointing that we even have to think of doing this. A luxury bag and I’m worried about stitching & quality control? Is the logo worth it anymore?
Vintage really can be amazing. I recently brought a 2003 Chanel PTT which look like it's barely been used and it cost less than a Chanel belt bag!
Lucky!! Happy for you❤
If you really love the bag exchange it.
Yeah Chanel can kiss my….
Wow. That IS disappointing! What the heck? Quality Control truly is sadly lacking with many bag designers (contemporary designers, as well).
I know, it was so bad I was very disappointed as I've been considering the bag for so long
Been on a world cruise 😂😂
Well said: glad you spoke out.
OMG! This is insane.
I feel you 😪 . same experienced with fendi! I feel like they don't care the quality control they just send the bag as not in good condition 😏😏
Don't worry - that video is coming! haha
I bought the Lou Lou when it was £1570! I can’t believe how much it has gone up by!
I know theyve had two big increases this year
I worked for a midrange brand in Germany (prices range between 150€ to 800€ per bag). We also sold display bags for full price unless they had signs of use or other imperfections. We were allowed to give some discount….but only 10-15 percent.
Just don't buy on-line. Too risky, besides the in-store experience is so much fun!
Couldn’t agree more with everything you have shared. Was curious to know if you know Dior is going to have another price increase?
FreyaKillin showed her YSL Cassandra and the leather is very gathered - not good enough at that price! x
Hey! Steph today is my birthday and I love your videos so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you reach 60K Subscribers very very soon!☺️💞✨
Oh wow happy birthday Mansoor! Are you doing anything nice today?
Hey Jane, I would go with the style you’ll use the most - also think Celine is a good shout right now. They’re gorgeous ❤️
We need to consider at some point what are we doing to our hard earned money, I started getting second love handbags because there’s no way those increases are worth it.
Yes I agree, I'll definitely be going back to preloved a lot more.
If people keep buying
Brands continue don’t care about the quality.
When no one buy the brand is gonna be a big hit but people continue buying I don’t own anything from YSL
Thanks babe
I had a similar experience with poor quality online. I ordered a designer bag during a sale at Net A Porter. It was missing the inside pocket zipper pull and something was off about the way it was wrapped (not new?)I contacted them for a return as they said it was the last in stock. it took well over a month of repeated contact on my part to get a refund done. I won’t use Net A Porter due to this.
Hi, the nature of loulou leather will wrinkle as you keep using it, but of cuz i do feel u especially when it is new or first got it. But bear in mind, definitely it will wrinkle over time as u use it
I got a YSL Loulou Medium 4 years ago. It was 1300 Euro and it is 2600 Euro now. Unbelievable, right?
Yes, so crazy for the exact same thing
My YSL LouLou is suede so I think that doesn't wrinkle as much. I still have Fendi Spy bags. I have problems with the opening to the spy part (the tube) coming open and I have had to glue it. Also, one time a whole part of the leather came undone it was not stitched it was glued. I buy Chanel preloved now, because the HW in no longer covered with real gold. I have also heard Chanel quality is going down,
As long as people keep buying nothing will change 🛒
I’m sorry to tell you but I own 3 LouLou’s in leather and the leather wrinkle is just part of the style of the bag. It isn’t a defect.
Yes I know it’s a characteristic of the bag but the difference between the leathers on the flap ca the body of the bag was very different. I did get a replacement and it’s completely different to this one, I don’t mind it aging but I want consistency of the leather: appreciate you sharing
I have a cap on what I’m willing to spend based on what an item is and these prices are ridiculous . Can’t justify these new prices at all.
That price is crazy, I have the same small loulou but in caramel brown and I bought it 2 years ago for £1200 .... the new price is nearly double watttttttt 😳😳😳
Oh wow that's amazing, yes huge increases on the YSL LouLou over the past 2 years
Don't get me started on the price increase versus quality decrease amongst luxury brands.
The SA assured me that’s how they come… ya right
YSL does not use high quality leather for their bags. Also, I have never purchased any YSL leather goods.
I kept it. I love it.
The leather on the loulou will age that way eventually. The same goes for the Gucci marmont line. Sigh...
It still looks new other than the scruffs on the logo.
luxury is just about the "name" bragging nowadays. much better to buy from independent brands.
Great video and thanks for sharing !
Thanks for watching
I haven’t seen higher prices for Saint Laurent increasing resale value on the pre-loved market yet
Steph. From your opinion which brands we can buy without having any quality issue. I do have ysl bags and thinking of selling them all to buy lv bags
I went on a Shopping Vlog this week and saw a really badly scratched YSL bag on display. It was shocking!
Same! Had the tote bag and it was horrendous
If the price went up, the bag should include a few accessories, not 1 or 2, but minimum 3.
It's crazy how much bags are going up.....
It is! They should at least make sure the quality is on point if they want the put the prices up.
I LITERALLY GOT THE BLACK HEART BAG AND THE FREAKING CHAIN POPPED ON THE FIRST DAY I WORE IT AND I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO WEAR IT SINCE PURCHASING IT 3 YEARS AGO! I HAD TO BUY A CHAIN OFF AMAZON SMH
Yes I've heard about this issue with the heart bags, very disappointing! Why don't you return to store they can fix it for you
