One thing I always run into with my RUclipsrs is that I find someone I really like, then either my interests or priorities change, or their channel changes soo much that we no longer align. The most common example is they buy a mansion and now their standard of living is just so unrealistic next to mine. I’ve been following you for maybe 5years now(?) and one thing that’s kept me coming back to your channel is that we’ve changed together. For me, you are easy to connect to. You are real. So many other channels make me feel less than or guilty about something or another that I’ve really stopped participating in most social media altogether. But when I leave your channel, and a select few others, I feel uplifted or centered. I like the old videos but I also like the new videos. ❤

This is one of the biggest compliments you could ever pay me! I strive to remain “relatable” even when that target seems to be constantly moving and shifting as social media changes. Being relatable to me is about way more than having people like me online, but being able to still touch people and bring peace and inspiration to their lives.
The fact that I’ve been able to do this for you makes the effort all worth it! Your words have really touched my heart and renewed my mission. Thank you, my friend. ♥️

I agree , in fact I went minimal on who I now watch on RUclips, it was not benefiting me just wasting my precious time. My husband is slowly getting used to me trying to cut back on “things”. This channel is very relaxing, always get a cup of tea and watch Natalie. Natalie how is your husband’s new job going? Must be a dream having him home more often!

And because of ideas your video prompted and your encouragement, I have become a homemaker who is comfortable and confident in my role. Seeing to you grow more comfortable in your videos has been a big part of it! You not only talk the talk, but you walk the walk! Thank you!! Hey Natalie :) I’ve been watching your videos for over 6 years. I would agree you’re more casual, but I have learned and grown so much with you over the years! We’re about the same age, and it’s so cool how much we can grow when we have an open mind. I feel like we align in our thoughts with minimalism. I wouldn’t call myself a minimalist, but I really strive to be intentional about every item I bring into my home. I have learned so much from you about being intentional as a homemaker and mama. I started watching you before I was even pregnant with my daughter ❤️ I truly appreciate you so much and the incredible content you share with us all!

You've always been authentic and relatable, but over time I feel you've become more confident, maybe more comfortable within your online community that's supporting you, and you've opened up more. I appreciate that you've grown into your own style of doing things, and as your content changes over time, I feel like we're on this journey of personal growth and development together. So thank you for all of that! ❤

Natalie I have noticed a difference! I have been watching you since the twins were little! In 2020 we had a medical kiddo born and when your mindset went into progress not progression so did mine! I felt the same way! I feel like we have both grown over the years together in a weird way! We are now expecting our 3rd child and we went through our whole house in a day thanks to you! I woke up and just wanted to get everything ready. Told myself what gets done is more than yesterday “progress over perfection” and the relief when I sat down at the end of the day. I just had to pray ♥️

    Hey Natalie!
I think one term you might find empowering is "Cognitive Fusion"
Fusion is when you feel "fused" to a specific label or ideology. So for example some people are fused to veganism, to a political party, to a specific brand, etc.
The benefits of being fused is it can quickly unite a community under a common ideology like you described with finding niches
The benefits of de-fusing is it broadens your decision making scope of options, allowing you to make choices that aligns with your values rather than a choice that maps to your point of fusion.

    • @NatalieBennett

When i was a junior in high school a classmate wrote in my yearbook - basically " you dont need to be what everyone else thinks you should be, be yourself!" No truer words spoken. I've spent many years since remembering these words & it's changing my life. I am Carolyn - who loves travel, sewing, crafts, reading & being a stay at home (retired) homemaker! I take what is enjoyable for our family (hubby & I) - so yes i have grey walls in our home, but lots of color & wood to counter the blandness. The same with my clothes, food,... I'm simplifying even more but enjoying life (even with dealing with an unknown health issue for the last year - hope to find a reason this year!)

Now I have injected colour and feel more at home along with a simplified minimal-ish home

Wow, it's always a pleasure to listen to you.
I'm many years older than you, but after watching your videos I'm firstly more motivated than before and secondly much more relaxed because your way of speaking and your explanations always come from the heart and are very wise for your age. They bring me back down to earth, make me more grateful, more fulfilled, more humble and I no longer feel like I have to become someone I absolutely don't want to be just to make other people happy. Thank you very much.
You always say exactly the right words that I needed.
I'm Mandy, 49 years old, not a minimalist, but on the way to minimizing my possessions and getting to know myself and treating myself the way I deserve and what's good for me. I choose 😊

Also, right now in our season of life (third kiddo born preemie with other health conditions) is really shedding light on how controlling perfectionism can be on your life. I literally teared up when you said "progress over perfection" because never has that been truer in our lives!!!

I have noticed a difference! Thank you for being an inspiration. I so appreciate your mantra of progress over perfection. My family is in the state of needing to prepare to find a new home and sell our current one (out growing the space) and I'm slowly making progress toward decluttering. Each baby step makes me feel a little bit better!

Happy New Year, Natalie & family! I think you have gradually changed since I started watching you about 5yrs ago! A little before you moved into your new home! It's been slow, but you are more at peace with yourself, calming & relaxing. I would like to see more DIY'S, maybe some gardening & have the kids do a how to video themselves. I think that would be cool! Your kids are growing up so fast. I think they are pretty well centered. When I used to do cleaning & organizing when the kids were little. They would see me straighten things up, & organizing. Then they would clean & go get rid of things they didn't want & then give away! Because they saw me do it many times. I wasn't a minimalist & still not a minimalist! But I do throw out or give away things! I would like to see more DIY'S, gardening videos & maybe have the kids do a how to video themselves. I think that would be cool! Your kids are growing up so fast. I think they are pretty well centered. I used to do cleaning & organizing when the kids were little. They would see me straighten things up, organizing. Then they would go clean & get rid of things they didn't want & then give away! Because they saw me do it many times. I wasn't a minimalist & still not a minimalist! I am a crafter, & I look at junk for things around the house or in the garbage! I use some cereal boxes, other boxes & also junk mail. I use a lot of junk mail for my Junk Journals! I love making them. I use old buttons, I paint some of the pages. I'm also a sewer so I sew on my pages as well! So I look different at things, so I keep things others wouldn't! My sewing room needs some organizing & some cleaning too & give away some too & throw away! Thanks amother lovely video! Take care! ❤️😉🫂🐾🌹🦋📓✏️🇺🇲🎨🖌✨️

Natalie, you're such a special gem! I am so thankful for your content and you sharing your authentic self, and yes -- it is showing through more and more in your videos. So relatable. You speak out loud the things we think in our minds :) I love what you said about the labels, and our identities -- spot on! All glory to God -- thank you for being brave and reflecting his goodness!

Love, Love, Love your comments on "I'm not a minimalist"! Amen, preach it, sister!! I absolutely agree with you on this - the world and social media has put SO much pressure on us to place a "label" on everything we do! It is freeing to know that you can just be yourself and a very good reminder for me too! Thank you so much for sharing this lesson. I really needed to hear this today! ❤

I do think you hit on a couple of very important and true things.
I am not a minimalist but I do enjoy my house being clutter free, easy to keep clean and well organized.
Also teaching your children how to do things around the house is extremely important I think. I had 2 boys that now as adults know and do things around their homes which is good to see.

Yes I’ve watched you on and off for a few years since Covid I think. You are much more relaxed and just “whatever it’s okay it doesn’t have to be perfect” which I love much better then the RUclipsrs who are “just do this and it’s perfect” that’s not real. I can 💯 see the shift.

Another Natalie video is exactly what I needed. It's been tough finding my own balance on the "minimalist" spectrum. I like to hold onto sentimental things from my childhood. I like having an emergency tote of random gifts for when I forget a birthday or hostess gift. I like little knickknacks from family members who have passed away. Progress over perfection has had such a positive impact on me. Thank you 😊

Haha! I knew you were going to say I'm not a minimalist. When you explained the sad beige millennial thing and capsule wardrobe thing because we're sort or reacting to growing up with the opposite it like blew my mind. I've went through the same thing as you with my wardrobe!

Thank you for sharing! I definitely needed to hear some of this, especially the one about doing little by little is better than none at all. I too get overwhelmed and that thought process will be so helpful to me.
The one about it not being a family affair, i needed that also because often worry about my kids rooms and they are old enough to take on some of that also.

No. 5 is a good lesson. I am not a minimalist, either. However, I sought online and book support 20 years ago to help me declutter, sort, organise and generally cope with my life better, learn what is important and what isn't and also who I am - and that just happens to go under those labels of minimalism, simplicity, frugality etc. etc. It doesn't mean I am those labels, but I have acquired skills that have saved my marriage and my life and that mean I can enjoy my wonderful life and future as a senior. I just turned 60.

Your #5 lesson is where I am. I am Cynthia, not my husband's wife or my son's mother. Those are true, but people forget that I am my own person, and it depresses me that people expect me to be someone I'm not just because my family is great at a task. Don't put people onto pedestals and expect me to join them. That's not who I am. I'm just Cynthia, and I would like to be accepted as me alone. Thanks for being honest because it helps me to be honest with myself.

I have definitely noticed a positive, peaceful, and relaxed demeanor shift!!! And I soooo appreciate your honesty about the struggle to hold a standard of perfection that only exists in your mind! I struggled with that for years, too. So thankful for growth and freedom in the Lord! We should do well, live a holy life, and glorify God but that is often not the “perfection” we see from the catalogs and the Jones’! Love your content and encouragement! 🙌💛

This was fantastic, thank you! Ironically for some reason I haven’t come across your videos in a couple years (sadly), and I HAVE noticed a difference in your demeanor this video. Way more chill, and you always seemed genuine but I feel like even more so in this video. Thank you for sharing this, it’s helpful more than you know 💛 ps I burst out laughing when you said someone said you’re not a minimalist because you have more than 2 kids 😂 too funny
