Those are handy tricks. I do lots of measuring tricks as well. I tend to measure after to keep in practice, but nothing works better than setting the pieces together. It just makes good sense. Not to mention ,when I'm making something for myself I may use leftover uneven material but shhhh we wont talk about that lol.
Thanks for posting this method, I used to work for a cabinet company who did everything the same except they didn't dado anything and cut the back front and bottom all from the same ripped piece of 5/8ths melamine and brad nailed it all together... It's the cheapest way considering time and having less materials to stock in the shop and in most situations it holds up because the undermount slides hold the drawer bottom so the sides are just there to keep the stuff in the drawer and not structural. If I'm doing something fancy I do it totally like you but if I'm going cheap and fast I use their variation.
I liked your video. Very practical and way easier. Relative dimensioning is always better when you can. What brand and model of slides are you using in the video? Thanks
According to my instructions, you are suppose to order the next size smaller..? I’m having the same problem, but I think it’s because my instructions didn’t inform me to drill the holes at the back end of the drawer to allow the hooks to sit properly. 😢. 🤞
help!! i got used slides for free (sikai brand), and i cannot figure out how to separate them for installation! when i pull the drawers out, the notch in the back just comes right out. what can i do to fix this?
I want to add, I have to back pinholes in the right spot. I am using drawers that I also got for free, and they were originally used with the slides. They did not really slide well to begin with, and I wanted to use this for a different project anyway. I built my own bed with a 25 inch clearance underneath last year....so that I could save space with drawers and pull-out storage underneath. I ended up putting this shelf sideways, and mounting it on casters. Then, I installed a handle to be able to pull it out easily. Sideways, rather than upright the spacing was a little bit different. It wasn't off much, I was able to fix that problem. What I'm stuck on now, is how do I get these *#!@!&!* drawer slides to act right??!!
For the life of me, I have no idea why the Blum guy didn’t just tell us to measure in between the drawer slides. Best off if you never have to do math with fractions.
After my eighth beer, knocking the piss out of my tool cabinet, and cursing out every Chinese Emperor known to man…. 😰 😤. I’ll give it a try Tomorrow! 😫. I ordered a $110 Vadania, undermount drawer set (with a name like Vadania, who would guess it’s Chinese!) well I opened the bow and and out roll the screws! I know I’m in deep 💩 when that happened! Then I don’t get instructions! I have a Chinese parts list! All I have to work with is Amazon and RUclips videos that all have a happy Friggen Ending!! 🤢🤮. Thank you for Speaking English Sir! And Thank you for explaining the information that would have made me look like a Hero! Instead of a retired computer software engineer who’s been handed a drill gun with no drills! 😵💫. 🥸…. Almost lost my cool there.
@@DebtFreeDIY Just touching bases again. You might want to warn your viewers about purchasing VADANIA products. I ordered a $112, Under Mount, Push to open drawer hardware. It came in a tattered box and when I opened it, like I said before screws fell out. Also I had to reverse engineer mounting this product because all I had was a Chinese parts list and RUclips/Amazon videos like yours. When I finished mounting the system it would not work properly. I noticed that a few small key parts were bent and did not affix properly. I took photos and emailed the company. VADANIA’s reply was short: If you bend the part back into position, we will give you 10% back. Looking forward to your reply. My reply (CCENSORED!). Although my part was 10 days old at the time VADANIA refused to honor their 1 year warranty. My question to you good sir… I have a 21” long trash can drawer. I would like advice on what product you would recommend (One with a video you have prepared 😝) if at all possible. Thanks 🙏🏼
Thank you. Several days and it is this video which allowed me to have a successful installation
Appreciate the tips. Going to do my first set soon
Thank you! Great tips!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips! The manual looks very intimidating!
Thanks brother! 👊 That manual does seem to make things harder than necessary

I have a 19 1/4 long drawer box but the standard 18” glide doesn’t allow the glide to reach the clip. Any suggestions to make work?

Any chance you have Instagram and can reach out to me there? My handle is in the video description. - Jeremy
How do you figure out what under mount length you need for the drawer? Is it the full drawer length or just the inside measurement?
It's the drawer box length not including the drawer front
@@DebtFreeDIY thank you!
The only problem measuring like that is that you lose side to side adjustment which is nice to have 👍🏻
On those particular drawer slides, side to side movement is adjustable with the slide itself.
Could you show the math as well? I'm building my drawers before the cabinet.
