Debt-Free DIY
США
Добавлен 23 янв 2021
Hi, we're Jeremy and Jess! In 2016 we sold our completely finished home and bought a fixer upper. About a year later, we decided to stop everything and pay off all of our consumer debt before beginning all the renovations on our list. In 15 months we paid off $34,000 dollars in debt and then began putting back for our emergency fund. Now we're punching our remodel in the face and using cash instead of debt. Follow along as we go room by room through our home tackling everything from DIY to design all without borrowing a penny!

Building the cabinet Instagram can't stop talking about
Просмотров 9403 месяца назад
In this video we're building a cabinet that we wish we could say was our own design but is actually a dupe taken from @helloimaubs on Instagram. Be sure and go show her page some love because it's definitely worth a follow! The arches and vertical dividers really set this cabinet off and give it such a cool vibe. Be sure to follow along for more DIY builds!

Great idea as long as your don't have a battery back up for the opener.
Yea it costs more to make the little sheets and you pay more for the convenience of not having to deal with the leftover. 😂
great video. it would be helpful if you could post the measurements of the pieces. it's a bit hard to follow, especially for those used to the metric system. best
This is what happens when you don't grow up in the country
😂😂😂 Tell me you know nothing about me without telling me...
Sorry it's pretty obvious. But the responses help your algorithms
So, I have to bump the fence over for each cut?... Hope I don't have to cut more than twenty or thirty.
That panel saw at Home Depot is always out of service or there is no employee around to cut for you.
“The more you spend, the more you save” works for you in this case, but not everyone. Take this analogy: you want to make steaks for your family. Your options are either buy a 5-pack of steaks or buy a whole cow and let the butcher cut it for you ‘for free’. YOU are not saving money by buying the cow. A steakhouse owner, however, would be stupid to buy 500 packs of steaks.
In my store. Sometimes they have pieces that are damaged, and can’t be sold. I’ve had good success in getting them free of charge. They just put a note on it with the Employees signature, and I walk out the door.
Buying in bulk is not a new concept.
This is typical for anything you buy in smaller quantity. TRUMP2024 🇺🇸
The cheapest thing at Home Depot is the Free paint stir sticks!!!
Plastic washer. 1 penny
Boohoo for you.
Weird comment
another tip for the debris: Ask your local liquor store for boxes. They are very sturdy, free, and a good size so they don't get too heavy.
New Sub Here! Great video and very informative! Is that heat deflector the standard heat deflector that comes with the Roughneck?!?
Thank you! It's standard with the powder coated one. The Corten and Stainless versions are different though.
@@DebtFreeDIY, thanks!
Very informative, thank you for this video. I’ve subscribed for more useful tips
Washers
Exactly correct somebody has to cut. Somebody has to store it away. Most people that go to HOME DEPOT drive pick up trucks for this very thing.
Convenience always costs more. I'm not saying it's right. It's just facts. It's been that way for a very long time. Why do you think candy or soda (or anything for that matter) costs more at a "convenience store" than at say, a grocery store? 💁♂️
Most people wouldn’t catch this . I learned this years ago
Can't you just soak it in water then clamp it down flat on a table and wait a few days?
My store sells 1/4” MDF 4x8 for 19.25$
Im waaaay off grid with a large solararay system and wind generators. We nake power 24/7. Been offgrid since 1967 and above the snowline in NE wash mnts. Im looking for heat I can run off my solar n wind. I need 120 volt Ac unit. Can't do any 240. My priority is heat cause Im too old to do my firewood routine. I moved here from the Bush of Alaska it is usualy above zero. But jan feb april it dipps. My heat pump will be bout 8' above ground under roofing. I need to replace wood heat. They've banned bearly everything that makes heat un this Natzi state. I need to know bout hear performance and system's total Amp Draw start up and rulling. Dandahermit.
Id go straight to nuts and washers lol
Hi Jeremy and Jess, this is the ONWOTE Security Camera System. Are you interested in installing and reviewing a camera system? If yes, we're willing to send you a sample to test out! We tried to reach out to you on Instagram and messaged you some details and hope we can get your response.
No shit
Never been charged for cutting.
I don't condone this, but you can print out your own barcodes that match the small boards and return them for store credit with no receipt
CN you run corded tools off of a boost pack. Of you can make proper connections
I'm sure you know this ,but wood glue will not stick the UV plywood.
Yeah I've quit adding it anymore. I used to hope it added a smidge more strength but anymore I just save time and accept the fact that it probably wasn't doing much 😂
Uh…that’s the typical board at Home Depot…..you can spend hours at HD picking thru stacks of lumber to find a single straight board…of any dimension.
Show people not to “eyeball it”. Teach them to buy a speed square and mark it so they don’t end up with goofy looking trim. “Norm didn’t cit corners and you shouldn’t either!”
Underrated!
Woooo where’s your p trap for that tub brother?
If you buy them online in a 6pqck they are 7.00 a piece.
Cool item!
Nice advice.
If any of the sheets of plywood have been damaged then they can cut it up and still sell them
Im doing interior doors, do i need to sand by hand or can i use a sander?
Why do you keep putting out you stupid videos of home depot ripping you of it's called convenience and research if you don't do your due diligence than ghats on you not home depot stop putting out crap propaganda
First time on the planet? 🤦♂️
That's for the corner clamp review. I love everything Kreg and thought the corner clamp difficulty was user error.
this isnt just home depot. now congrats, you paid 25 dollars more and now have 3 extra 2x4 foot sheets you dont need.
This video is obviously not for you. Those 3 pieces were used in my shop by the end of the week. DIYers always need extra material
@@DebtFreeDIY then why did you say you only needed 1 2x4 piece.
@@jasonwalker2150 I normally have my material delivered in bulk from a local hardwood supplier. I needed one small piece on a Saturday (my supplier was closed) to finish up a project so I decided to run to HD and see what they had. I normally NEVER buy sheet goods from there.
Yall are the best!!!🎉
Thanks brother! 👊
That's if you can find a worker to cut it!😂😂
Congratulations you've caught up to the rest of us.
You're what I aspire to be
Stores only rip you off if you don't pay attention and you buy the over priced products.. you don't have to buy it or shop there ...
It's not fixed it's a new board a completely different size. Like fixing a split on one side 2x4 by cutting it in half.
Can you show me a business that's not doing that crazy price hight
Take a look at the drywall, 2x2 cost around 50% of 4x10.
