I love the way they have moved with the times here and are all dressed like people dressed in 1989 even though they are a 70s band. The Buzzcocks never gave a shit about clothes and fashion in the 70s which was great because they were more interested in playing good music. I wish I'd heave known they were still playing in 89 I would have definitely gone to see them. It is only all these years later with internet /RUclips you can see how long they played for. Back in 89 I just used to buy tickets to see bands from a chaulk board in my local record store that listed all bands that were playing. I loved The Buzzcocks as a little kid but by the time I started watching bands at 16 years old in 1989 I thought The Buzzcocks were finished never to be seen again.
Thanks so much for uploading this. I have this on VHS tape (it doesn't seem to be available on DVD) and I wanted to make sure that it was available to watch somewhere, before finally throwing out ALL of my old VHS tapes and my old VCR. It's not an easy thing to do, when you have tapes that you have had for over 25 years, but when you move home sometimes you need to have a good clear out.
+hedgehog1965uk NO...DON'T THROW YOUR OLD VHS TAPES..THEY REPRESENT OUR YOUTH, OUR CONCERT GOING YEARS. I HAVE THIS ON VHS BUT AM NOT THROWING OUT..NO WAY. I'M AN ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN HUGE FAN HAVE SO MANY VHS TAPES..WILL NEVER EVER THROW ANYTHING AWAY..NO PLEASE KEEP THEM ALL. YOU WILL REGRET IT ONE DAY. KEEP ALL.
+NicBunnymen I did actually keep a few VHS tapes, including this Buzzcocks recording, but I did throw out my big clunky VCR (so I don't actually have anything to play the videos on now).
+NicBunnymen I recently bought a second-hand Sony VCR from the charity shop where I volunteer for £20. They sell more VCRs than DVD players, cos VCRs are so hard to get hold of these days. It's in good condition and much more compact than the big clunky one I threw out. I was able to dig out my old VHS tapes and give them a try.
I last saw the Buzzcocks in 1989 - at Nottingham Rock City - around the same time this was recorded I think. (have it on an old VHS) Like this they were absolutely bang on form, tight drumming & bass, Mr Diggle knocking them out & always remember Pete's funny little intros to some of the numbers ....:) RIP mate. Legends....
+Dan Thompson Hiya Dan. Do you mean he was 29 at the time of this gig? That'd make him like 16 when Spiral Scratch was recorded, no?BTW, sorry for posting on an old thread...
Hi Mike. Yes: amazing as it sounds, John Maher was only 29 when the Buzzers reformed in 1989. I was 15 at the time and saw them in Birmingham. So yes, he was 16 when they started. It must have been bizarre for him playing comeback concerts before he was thirty.
I want it on DVD!!! And where is the drum solo that I remember? (Might be that I'm wrong but I don't think I am) fantastic band and awesome drummer. Takes me back to being 14 again 😵Pogo yer ass off 🤣
Really want this on DVD, cant find the dvd but can find the cd, just had a look at the one you can buy on dvd 1990 Access all areas. What a bad concert and no John Maher on drums....boo
Merci !

one of the best early punk bands
One of the originals. I love them.
Rest in Peace my friend.
ONE GREAT BAND..TRUE LEGENDS
Muuuy buena banda looco
"Why Can't I Touch It?" Is one of the best songs ever. Have they been inducted into the Hall of Fame yet? If not over due. I love you Buzzcocks!
Why the hell aren't these and the jam in the hall of fame the clash are there buzzcocks and jam are better bands
They spoiled us. Got to see them twice. We wish all rock was this good. That we still talk about them 40 years later says a lot.
RIP Pete.
England..A small island and yet the best, most exciting, groundbreaking bands ever....WHY?
England isn't an island it has Scotland and Wales attatched to it but i know what you mean 👍
It was this tour in the USA that us folks on this side of the pond finally caught the buzz: “Hey wait a minute, these guyz are amazing..”
One of the best punk bands.
I still have this on VHS. This lineup actually played a couple of gigs last year.
It feels like this reunion was just yesterday. He was still so young. But now he's gone. Time really does fly by, doesn't it? RIP Pete Shelley

GO buy a new or used vcr. Keep all tapes. Take care mate and keep listening to the great Buzzcocks.

You should sell it instead of throwing it away if you can. A fan would really appreciate it.
This was the only tour I was ever able to catch. My left ear bled for a couple of days afterwards,A primo pop-rock band. The writing was terrific.
Fantastic concert great comback Salfords finest
35 mins-Harmony in my head
+Phillip blanchette Great harmony right!!
Wow.. been a fan from the early age of 15, now 57 and this is the best concert I have ever heard .
Always in my head. . . I associate a lot with her music 😀🎶

Yeee! Thanks for uploading!!!!!
john maher grooves !
THANK YOU!
helluva gig
cracking performance...
Some very perfunctory drumming from John Maher here: he's only 29 for Christ's sake! Where on earth is What Do I Get?
+Dan Thompson Hiya Dan. Do you mean he was 29 at the time of this gig? That'd make him like 16 when Spiral Scratch was recorded, no?BTW, sorry for posting on an old thread...

Mike Roby born in 1960, so in July 1976 he was 16. Freaking amazing.
@@kellieandbillyjack Yes, he was so scared at their first gig, at the end he ran from the stage straight out into the night....
The best to come out of Manchester fact
God bless Pete Shelley-gone one year today.
Yoooo what did the 80s do to Steve Garvey?? I can't even recognize him!
I want it on DVD!!! And where is the drum solo that I remember? (Might be that I'm wrong but I don't think I am) fantastic band and awesome drummer. Takes me back to being 14 again 😵Pogo yer ass off 🤣
Good as fuck
