- Pastor Dustin introduces our new study in the historical book of 1 Samuel, which takes us from the end of the period of the judges to Israel’s first kings, Saul and David. In Chapter 1, barren Hannah pleads for a son at the tabernacle in Shiloh. “So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel [heard by God], saying, ‘Because I have asked for him from the Lord’” (1 Samuel 1:20 NKJV). Once he is weaned, Hannah brings Samuel to the priest, Eli, to serve the Lord in the tabernacle the rest of his life as she had vowed.
Hannah and her husband Elkanah willingly surrender their son in consecration to the Lord for His glory. Pastor Dustin draws parallels between the actions of this faithful couple to believers who surrender their lives to God and now live in truth and holiness, set apart for the glory of Jesus.
