I love the analysis, but I don’t think it’s going to be Ju Peter that will betray IMU. Based on the few lines of dialogue he has had, he seems very loyal to the world government and their cause, considering how he reacted to Luffy defeating Dolfamingo. We can rule out V’ Nasujuro given his remarks about the D- clan. I agree Walcury is the central figure of the Gorosei because he is the God of Justice. But, that leaves Marcus Mars. If you go and pay attention to his dialogue and even facial expressions, you can see that their is some level of hesitance and humanity to him. During O’Hara, when Clover was speaking to the Gorosei, it was Marcus Mars who was speaking to Clover and wasn’t even dead set on having him killed. He calmly asked Clover what he knows. Even during the most recent arc, he is even one of the few gorosei members to be hesitant about using the mother flame on Lulucia. Even in the big page spread with the gorosei, the way oda draws their eyes convey such anger and loyalty to IMU, except Marcus Mars. That small, minuscule detail just leads me to believe that he is the only Gorosei that has any semblance of humanity, and I don’t think he will betray the Gorosei, but I feel like he will gain some peace and freedom from the having to serve IMU once defeated.

I also think Ju Peter isn’t a likely traitor option because he’s the Godhead of Agriculture, which assumedly means he is responsible for issuing and decreeing the Heavenly Tribute that starves countless nations in One Piece as we’ve seen before, and is one of the biggest contributing factors to the Revolutionary Army’s existence and their widespread support in the first place.
A huge running theme of One Piece is how important food is, and how particularly cruel it is to subject anybody to starvation (as was especially made clear in Wano), so the idea that the man who’s probably responsible for the worst example of mass starvation around the One Piece world is the secret good guy just kind of seems unlikely to me.

Wyper pretty much killed Eneru with the Impact Shell until he made his heart beat again via his DF and Kyros cut of Doffys head and supposedly killed him until he restitched his head again via his DF. Sanji clashed with both Satori and Vergo and is right now present when Bonnie is attacking Saturn. There's a 99% chance that when Saturn hits back Sanji will defend her and engage Saturn.

If Saturn falls here on Egghead against the Strawhats, then I suspect Imu and the Elders are gonna be defeated sooner than we think.
Oda has had this trend in the New World to introduce a group that battles the Strawhats, and when that subordinate loses than the following arc the leader of the group is defeated.
Baby 5/Machvise fight and lose against Franky in Punk Hazard Doffy next arc.
Big Mom pirates confront Strawhats in a naval battle in Dressrosa, Big Mom next arc (which wound up being more of a technical loss than a legit one, that would come after Whole Cake)
Beast Pirates confront Strawhats in Zou/ right before Whole Cake, Kaido next arc.
So Saturn is defeated/dies, Imu in turn loses the next arc leaving a power vacuum that Blackbeard can capitalize off of is the way I can see things going.

Zoro vs. Nusjuro seems like a given. But I do think that Dragon will fight Imu instead of an Elder, as the final war equivalent to Wyper and Law, the two people who have the most personal motivation to defeat the false god and has planned for it from the start. Wyper and Law both also have sceenes of them seemingly killing Enel and Doffy by attacking their hearts, only for the false gods to use their abilities to revive themselves. Dragon will give a good fight, but Luffy ultimate has to bring the dawn. If Dragon needs a win before this, he could show off against someone like Kong or Garling.
For the opponents of Warcury and Mars, I'd wager the biggest contenders are Sabo, the flame of the revolution, and Koby, the future of the Marines, or Kid and Law, the most prominent Supernova after Luffy and was integral in defeating an emperor of the sea.

Also the fact that Urouge seems to have a scar on his face which could be where Enel attacked him after he disobeyed him most likely after Urouge got his Devil Fruit power and tried fighting back.

With Saturn being a very blatant devil-inspired presence in the story, V. Nusjuro being Zoro's opponent is nearly confirmed to me. Zoro being the king of hell, wanting his name to be heard even in heaven, would be accomplished in both respects by taking down the devil who rules in the land of god. The final saga is gearing up to be incredible!

I remember that Saturn was not sent by anyone other than himself as he actively took the initiative to solve the problem because it is his area of expertise.
Regarding how the last member will act, I would say that he will be the wild card of the group since he will be defeated twice: in battle, for being the member with the least battle prowess (probably due to some type of eccentricity that he has in his personality, or in the dynamics of his demonic power/devil fruit); and in his seriousness, since the other two were significantly defeated by some element of comedy (Gedatsu was defeated due to his clumsiness, while Trebol did not consider Usopp a danger in the fight against Sugar). So... maybe it will be a toony fight about a senile man using "old and rigid" methods of battle against a bunch of kids (Chopper, Usopp and Luffy) overcoming each one with creativity and plasticity, like some sort of dnd campaing.

Smoker is too overwhelmed when he enters the New World, he was also too unlucky to fight Doflamingo who ridicullously powerful. But one thing for sure, Kizaru's gonna report to Marine HQ and tells Akainu how much powerful Luffy now since he got his ass beaten. Also, he's the only Golden Trio of Admiral left since Akainu got promoted to be Fleet Admiral and Aokiji left Marine. Even the newest Admirals which are Fujitora and Aramaki also totally overpowered but so far, all I see is Aramaki is the weakest newest Admiral since he also got easily beaten by not so experience fighter Momonosuke, Yamato and also Red Scarrabs.

After watching this video I'm pretty sure it was suposed to be 6 Gorosei intead of 5. The argument for Corazon being the fifth missing member of Doflamingo's subordinates makes perfect sense and we have the same pattern of being betrayed by someone that was very close to them on IMU's side of the story. He was betrayed by Nefertari Lily.
Lily might very well be someone Imu wanted as part of his subordinates, or even more than that, maybe she was supposed to be the Queen, ruling the world besides him. But she betrayed him and spread the Poneiglyphs around the world.
Following this idea, I believe one of the Gorosei is gonna present to us a storyline that we haven't seen yet.

There's something missing both in Skypie and Dressrosa: Sanji didn't really had a major/significant fight against one of the main subordinates of the main villain during the end of the arc.
So my guess is that the final saga/war will bring all of the scattered elements together along these lines:
      - Sanji engages one of "god"'s subordinates = Saturn before he kills Bonnie.
      - Sanji sabotages/deals a major blow to "god"'s plan = Stop the great cleansing, probably and facing Imu directly to give him/her the middle finger like with Enel.
      - Sanji gains important information from a woman related to "god" = this could be Bonnie already.
      - Sanji fights and defeats one of "god's" subordinates (Satori in Skypie) = since it is unlikely that it will be Saturn in Egghead, it will probably be one of the remaining gorosei.

Interesting, although the number of seats increasing might also be due to just having more strawhats in need of opponents. I can easily see Jimbe having personal beef with a seat on behalf of all fishmen enough to warrant a major fight for instance.
Another interesting thing, in both cases this 1st defeated seat was NOT defeated by Luffy. In one it was Law and the other Sanji. So good chance Luffy will not fight Saturn at all, and it will fall to someone else to take them out. Law I suppose could mean it could be Bonney, both being from the generation and characters who came with the arc, or well Sanji as he's right there. In fact, that we have both in this particular fight is interesting. Maybe it will be a tag team take down.

I may be wrong, or someone may have already mentioned tthis, but Doflamingo isn't supposed to have five seats, he only ever has or intends to have 4, one for each card set. Vergo is the Heart seat during the whole rise to power of Doffy and only vacates the seat when joining the marines as a spy, coincidentally then being replaced by Corazon who returns to the fold as a spy for the marines. They were never present in tandem. He then vacates the Heart seat when he reveals his true allegiances, and Doffy teases Law with the knowledge that the Heart seat could have become his, so this parallel doesn't work at all. As for why he never promoted another heart seat, I don't know, maybe there was some remorse in there after all. but regardless, there are some other interesting parallels you raise.

That said, he was killed on Punk Hazard, by a deadpan ally of the Straw Hats, in retaliation for a father figure, and in a Sci-Fi Horror setting. This perfectly parallels how we not only think Bonnie will kill Saturn on Egghead, but also WHY she'll kill him.

Maybe the common thread between Gedatsu and Trebol is that the most recent addition to the Strawhats on their adventures will be the one to take the final member down. Vivi decided to return to Alabasta and Robin was just riding along with the Strawhats to avoid marine capture, which means that Chopper was the one to defeat Gedatsu, while in Dressrosa though Law isn’t and never intends to be a Strawhat, he did join the crew through an alliance meaning he was technically a part of them and he was the one to defeat Trebol. So it’s possible that the one who is going to defeat St. Mars would be either Jimbei, Bonney (if she joins the crew), or someone else who formed an alliance with the Strawhats, most likely Sabo, which are the best choices in my opinion to defeat one of the Gorosei, as each have a strong antagonistic connection to them. Jimbei being a Fishman, whose people are always subjected and desired as toys to the Celestial Dragons, Bonney because her mother and adoptive father’s lives were enslaved and ruined by the rule of the Celestial Dragons, and Sabo for being a victim of them his entire life between his parents forcing him to act a certain way to impress them which including throwing all morals out the window and almost being killed by one who had the small boat he was on destroyed just because he didn’t like the looks of it and hated that a kid was ‘in the way’ of his arrival and of course he’s now being pinned for a murder of royalty that the Gorosei had committed themselves. Honestly, if this is Oda’s plan then that will probably lead to one of the most gratifying face offs in the entire series.
My money is on Sabo. On a thematic level it's the most appropriate regarding Sabo's character and the Hero's Journey he's been on since first introduced through Luffy's flashbacks. Went from being born into an upper-class family that revolved their lives around the Celestial Dragons' influence, to freeing himself from that life and almost being killed by a Celestial Dragon as a result, to being saved by the man who is fighting against them, to having an intense motivation to finally take them down after their Warlords system and the marines under their influence caused the death of his brother, Ace, to discovering the truth behind Imu and being framed by the Gorosei for their own actions, to being hailed as a Messiah of Revolution, to now the inevitable alliance with the Strawhats to protect the only brother/family he has left leading to the final confrontation that will define the future of the world itself. Without even realizing it, Oda has been building up Sabo's character arc from the very beginning and I hope I'm right, because him defeating a Gorosei to liberate the world from their rule after it defined him since the day that he was born would be the perfect ending to his arc, and make him without a doubt one of One Piece's, possibly even one of fiction's own, best characters of all time!

11:50 Doflamingo was not supposed to have 5 subordinates, it was always 4, as there are only 4 suits (hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds). Vergo simply replaced Rosinante as the hearts (hence the codename "Corazon", which means "heart" in Spanish). After Rosinante died, Vergo was the new Corazon.

    • @MrMorj
      @MrMorj  Год назад +36

It's the other way around, Vergo was the first heart seat. Then when Vergo went undercover in the marines, Rosinante became the new Heart Seat. As such, Doflamingo had 5 Elite officers: the 4 Seats + Vergo who was the "hidden" elite officer on the same level of authority as the 4 seats. This is shown in the Doflamingo Family hierarchy breakdown that Oda depicted early in Dressrosa.
Now, once Rosinante betrayed Doflamingo and died, that left one empty seat, which leads us to today where Doflamingo has only 4 elite officers, Vergo, Pica, Diamante, and Trebol. However, the point is that he should have 5, there are supposed to be 4 suits + Vergo. It's just that the Heart seat has simply remained empty since Rosinante's death, because Law never took it.

I think another parallel worth looking after is between this final arc and baroque works'/alabasta.
Imu is a ruler from the shadow just like crocodile, before arriving at their final destination the strawhats will have to go to an island of giants and an island of science (bit of a stretch, but medicine was subsidized by the government there), baroque works did send their agents and we also have 2 traitors (vivi and bon chan, which I think will be paralelled by cody (which like vivi will have to actually be the link to unite the world against the world government) and the young gorosei guy or someone else possibly).
And lastly, the biggest links probably, is that crocodile was after ancient weapons and usurped the power of a nefertari! (Just like it seems imu had links to the nefertari dinasty)
I don't think the parallels are as fleshed out as dressrosa, or as direct/linear as skypea, but I think it could be something worth analysing

12:09 - And I don’t think Ju Peter is gonna be the Traitor and the reason I say this is Because Ju Peter looks like he could be Marcus Mars Son, and if not Son, Nephew
Nusjuro is a possibility as he is probably originally from Wano, however that would knock him out the bunch and not Give Zoro a Good Fight if he Betrays, so it’s hard to say who will Defect, Unless Nusjuro has a Face Turn during his Fight with Zoro, then that would make a bit more sense, the other reason I say Ju Peter won’t Defect is because he looks like he’d be The Perfect Match Up to Fight Sanji, but if he’s somehow related to Marcus and due to the relation probably have similar Fighting Styles, then I guess Sanji could also fight Marcus instead
13:35 - Another Correction… Enel did have 5, That Big Guy Robin Fought was The Fifth Guy
14:06 - But since you Entered Dragon into Fight one of The Gorosei instead of Who I Thought he was going to Fight, then I believe that none of them will betray the same or similar way Corazon did, they will all be loyal, as they are the initial Legion for Imu, Perfect Bodies to Represent The One at The Top, I mean they wouldn’t have been Soo structurally sound for so long if they weren’t, but if one Defects it will be after some sort of Metaphorical Awakening in Themselves after Fighting whoever they fight, and they will only briefly be able to help the rebels as they were already defeated by whoever they fought

A pentagram usually means there's a ritual going on or beforehand. This is a weird detail since there's no devil fruit that needs a ritual to activate its power. St Garcia's power may not be his but just a power that Imu has given him, that's why there's no df info when he was shown (they even showed Kaido's df when he was officially introduced). And if Imu is capable of giving powers to others, maybe he's actually the one who created devil fruits in the first place. Zoans have a will of their own so maybe he turned his enemies, the D clan into devil fruits.

Maybe my memory isn’t what it used to be but I sure as hell don’t remember Kaido’s DF being shown when he was first introduced. First time his fruit was named was by Big Mom in Wano if I remember correctly.

I had an idea that imu gave the gorosei the original 5 “devil” fruits, and joy boy made a version of them that was based on dreams and not nightmares. Imu could have switched the moniker “devil” to joy boys fruits to portray them as the villains

for the final match up, I could see Dragon taking the fight to imu, and doing well, but ultimately failing. and yeah he could get topman.
But as for Marcus Mars, I could honestly see him being Usopp's matchup. Mars is the godhead of agriculture, and Usopp fights with plants. If he does get a major power up in elbaf, he could honestly hold his own against them. It could also be a jump, the weakling trio beating one of the gorosei.
After that, I think it would be cool if during the Luffy vs Imu fight, Luffy gets knocked down like Luffy vs Lucci, but Usopp intervenes and fights Imu, knowing full well that he might lose. Just buying time for Luffy to get back up to hit Imu with a Bajrang Gatling.

I think the parallel of seats works even better with Boroque works. There being 5 in the beginning. The straw hats defeat a single seat Mr3 and his partner. Then leaving 4 who they fight and eventually Mr2 the only one without a partner(The only one who was different from the others) decides to help them in the end.

Baroque Works was a lot larger & more complicated. There were supposedly at least 14 Pairs if you count Crocodile as 0 & Robin as Miss All Sunday. Friday & 13 were the lowest pair of significance that were above the Billions. 1 & Doublefinger (New Years), Bon Clay was alone, 3 & Golden Week, 4 & Christmas with the Dog were the main pairs throughout much of Alabasta. Zoro killed the 1st Mr 7 before the series started & then a 2nd 7 was guarding the bomb in Alubarna that Pel flew off with. The 8&9 Pairs betray the organization at Whiskey Peak.
Gorosei, Priests, & Seats don't have internal hierarchy with them appearing to be equals underneath their leader.

Wasn’t it stated at the beginning of the arc that whatever happens on Egghead shocks the entire world ?
What if the robot Luffy woke up with Gear 5 somehow ends up drowning Saturn in the ocean, giving the straw hats the opening they need to escape.
    That’s my theory anyway.

Mars being the agriculture war god could mean he commits some sort of injustice relating to pestilence or starvation. That could point to Sanji's central themes or Chopper's.

Dragon does look a lot like Wiper. So the parallel makes sense. Another thing is Sanji is directly in the mix in all 3 instances. He was fighting Satori, Vergo, and now it looks like Saturn too.

Maybe I’m mistaken, but I thought that Doflamingo only had 4 seats (one for each suit of playing cards, with Doffy representing the Joker), and the Heart Seat simply did some passing back and forth between Corazon and Vergo based on who was around and available to do it? As far as I understand:
1.) Vergo was the original Heart Seat
2.) Corazon returns to Doffy after their separation (and after Corazon had become a secret Marine operative)
3.) Vergo abdicates the Heart Seat to Corazon and then spends 3 years joining the marines as a double agent.
4.) Corazon betrays Doffy and is killed, leaving the Heart Seat once again open for Vergo to take
Hope I’m wrong though cause I really love this theory

You are right but that is still 5 people, it’s like morj said there is one who is sent out to do certain things (like jay coming to egghead or vergo going to punk hazard) when corazon was the heart seat doffy had 5 headliners and law was supposed to fill that seat when he died, not vergo

There is actually a pattern for the 3rd member, they are all defeated by their own mess ups:
Gedatsu was defeated by losing his Foot Dial. Trebol was defeated by exploding his own mucus around him.
The 3rd Gorosei member might also get defeated the same way. They might mess up. It would be fun if the opponent they face is God Ussop.

The thing about the Doflamingo's Five Seats line of thinking is, Vergo and Rosinante were never Seats at the same time. Doflamingo always had four seats - one for each suit in a deck of cards. Vergo abdicated his seat to Rosi after he left to infiltrate the Marines, and then later takes it up again (still undercover) after Rosi is exposed as a traitor himself.
So, I'd argue the Gorosei are actually the odd ones out on the numbers front in this case. Which does not preclude the idea of one of them turning traitor and making the numbers even, of course, but I think using Rosinante as a forerunner for that doesn't quite work.

2 people who worked togather to Kill Eneru were initially introduced in the arc as enemies/hostility towards each other (Luffy and Wyper)
2 people who worked togather to Kill Doffy were introduced as enemies/Hostility towards each other (Luffy and Law).
Are we going to see Luffy and Blackbeard temporarily working togather to defeat Imu?

The old books were great because of a lot of the same reasons you pointed out. His novels brought him to many different places of the old world and we saw a glimpse of just about every faction.
One interesting thing about his relation to Grimnir is that upon finding dwarf god’s axe he was slowly starting to be imbued with power, which is why he could never die. *Spoiler* at the end of his last old world novel, he meets Grimnir and takes his place in the realm of chaos. So in a way, he kinda is a stand in for the slayer god.
