The key to the subjunctive is to learn the trigger phrases. Once you know those and are able to practice a bit, it's much easier to recognize when you are supposed to use it in my opinion because you can start to sense when it feels right.
I agree re the subjunctive bro. It is not hard . Just a matter of getting a basic understanding of it’s use then read a lot , listen a lot and speak ,speak speak !
Really enjoy your content. Lots of great resources and info. I am pretty new to learning Spanish. I finally got up the guts to speak with an italki teacher this last weekend because of your videos. Very much appreciate all the work you put into your videos!
Good content. I like what you're saying about accents. My teacher was from Mexico when I first started learning in London. A few years later I did year one open university Spanish. That exposed me to various accents which was great.
#4 is so important. I did that for two weeks. Consuming anything. This week I found great tv shows like "Caso Cerrado" I'm talking back, laughing and enjoying the things I understand. Same with other forms of entertainment.
This is another great video. Can you give us some of examples of content or where you might find it please, on youtube or elsewhere? I am currently watching youtube videos on gardening and growing vegetables etc, yoga videos and I am reading books that I have found on amazon. Are there any other places I can go to find content please? thank you so much for a great video.
A good choice might be RTVE, there is a whole section called “a la carta” where you can watch tonnes of native content for free, but honestly I spend most of my time on RUclips, Netflix and podcasts
I started learning Spanish one month ago today. My reading and listening of Spanish is actually quite good but what I'm failing at is the oral/conversational skills. My plan is to go to Guatemala next year for 3 months then travel Central America for the other 9 months of the year. Do you think my Spanish would be to a decent level after spending one year in a Spanish speaking environment? Thanks for the videos, Shane. PS. I started italki classes this week with a girl from Argentina, I'm hoping my conversation in Spanish will get better with this platform.
Everyone’s journey is different but if you’re actively immersing yourself in the language and the culture and your consistent with your learning then I don’t see why not! It sounds like an amazing plan I’m sure you’ll have a great time whatever happens! Thanks for checking out the videos 😊🙏🏽
Good video. I wish I had not spent so much time trying to learn Spanish on Duolingo. When I moved to a better app, LingQ, I began to comprehend and speak better, according to my amigos. LingQ also has interesting content. 😊
I had the same experience with the french subjunctive. I crammed on the subject ,which only left me confused. What I finally realized is that the subjunctive literally jumps out at you , you really can't miss it and you have this feeling , this unusual feeling of something different happening and in a way , Isn't that what the subjunctive is all about ? Subjectively I mean -
I'm learning Spanish last two years and still I'm not able to communicate with people, get nervous and then I'm not able to speak. I don't what should I do.
About content: My rule is don't read something, what you wouldn't read in your mother tongue, even if it is more difficult. Then you have the highest motivation to understand the content. Having said this, I mix more things up as I would do when I read in my native language. For example, usually I do not read novels so much. But I think I have to do this from time to time, when I read books in Spanish. But again, only in what I am interesting in. And that rules is perfect when you want something to know in the Internet. Don't look up in English or in your native language, look up in Spanisch.

Totally agree that’s a great place to start!
Oh, I predict that you are going to get many more subscribers after chatting with Señor Juan today. ¡Felicidades!
Thank you! Hopefully everyone enjoys the video with Juan!
@@ShaneGodliman I loved it. Thanks from Australia.

I am here because I heard the interview with Juan. It would be great to have the opportunity to speak with him.
@@gary-ju5ox it was really awesome to have the opportunity to speak with him having spent so much time watching and reading his content!

I wish I knew u wanted meeeeee lol W video bro!! Very helpful and definitely helps in targeting what I want to focus on.
5 years in and I’m still guilty of spending too much time watching people talk about languages 😬 😂
😂😂 i mean sometimes it’s fun! But yeah I can definitely do it a little too much sometimes
well, obviously I fall in that trap, too. But I only watch that type of videos after I have done my "work". It is a kind of damage control :D.

Ah wow that’s so cool! Glad you enjoy the content 🙏🏽 how did the italki class go?

Thanks Andy! Yeah I think for me it’s been helpful to start focusing on one accent and now I’m branching out a little bit more with my listening 😊

Watching series with subtitles =to reading books etc That’s a good topic to cover btw ..
Are you asking if watching a series with subtitles is the same as reading a book? In short, no. A book has way more vocabulary

Totally agree, there are lots of parts of the Spanish subjunctive now that seem so obvious but initially it was like the most foreign concept ever
I'm learning Spanish last two years and still I'm not able to communicate with people, get nervous and then I'm not able to speak. I don't what should

I’m thinking about making a video about this topic specifically very soon 😊🙏🏽
