Simon Edvinsson is going to have a huge impact for the Red Wings since it will be his first full season.
Another guy to keep an eye on for defense is Albert Johansson who now has to pass thru waivers to go to the AHL.

Our offence will be back from 2 seasons ago. Wasn't the talent, but the way we played the game (and preparation) along with our improved defense and emergance of UPL, it's playoff time Baby!! 🔥💯💯

Not to mention the IMPROVEMENT of our bottom 6. He are gonna HIT, and Lindy has a roster he can work with. No longer are the sabres gonna be out hit game in, game out.

why must we have this mindset if we can only beat out Detroit and Ottawa??? 🙄

I think Ullmark will be fine in Ottawa. Not Vezina level, but a solid #1 with a strong Sv%. Recall his last year in Buffalo, the shortened 2021 season, when the Sabres bottomed out under Krueger and we had the mega losing streak and the worst Goals For mark in the league -- Ullmark still had an above average if not a sparkling Sv%. He'll be fine in Ottawa.

Detroit are a similar level to last season, assuming they sign their RFA's. I think they have the same bottom six problem that Kevyn Adams has sought to solve this off season. Their D seems poor, the good D men are inexperienced and need support that they are not getting (think of Dahlin's early years in Buffalo). I think Yzerman is in the trade market for a goalie (Askarov?) considering their current options and that he wiffed picking Cossa over Wallstedt. I think Buffalo and Detroit will finish very close points wise as the rosters are currently constructed.
Ottawa have improved the goaltending with Ullmark, but what else have they done. Perron & Jensen does not improve them enough. They have a nice young core but poor supporting characters and little in their prospect pool. Ottawa will be well behind Buffalo and Detroit in points.
Montreal will be better this season, they may even finish above Ottawa . They have the best young core of the three, and a significantly better prospect pool. It will be interesting to see whether they utilise some of their assets to upgrade their roster. When the Buffalo core reaches their peak it will be Montreal that are our nearest challengers.

Detroit has 4 goalies that could be on the roster they are not trading for one this season

@@davidkruse4030 Whilst they have some goalies, they need an upgrade if they want to be a playoff team. Husso is the best option (UFA in 2025) and is a borderline starter in my opinion. They have no long term answer either other than Cossa, and there is a debate amongst scouts whether he is going to be starter quality.

Oops. Missed Trey Augustine. He could be a starter option a few years down the road.

Korpisalo was signed for good reason as he performed decently well on a terrible Columbus team . Korpisalo was bad for the sens last year because for the past 4 years their soft d core can’t hold teams that forecheck well. Ullmark is going to get shelled this year for the same reasons korpisalo got bombed last year . You need a decent defense in front of you to have good tending numbers in this league . Korpisalo will do significantly better now that he has a defense in front of him but obviously he won’t play as much because of swayman
