The ability to use 6x32 SCU changes my assessment of the profitability of this ship (in game and in lore) so maybe it is a good alternative to the Taurus. It's definitely a good upgrade from the Freelancer Max since that's 6 times the effective cargo space (unless you want to try to wedge the smaller boxes on top of the FL Max... I'm talking practical "fast load" with just 16 SCU and higher boxes for speed and convenience. Making it load 6x32 SCU means it's about 3 times as useful to me as a hauler than the FL MAX. Same size 2 QT drive makes it economical compared to the larger ships like the C2 or Caterpillar as well (thinking lore-wise in game as a cargo operator would) Granted it's almost as big and half the weight of a C2 so it's still using more hydrogen than a FL MAX, but that's balanced by the extra cargo capacity so it still makes sense. Wow, this AND the Polaris both sort of make sense in game and in lore so that could mean that CIG is learning... or got lucky ;-)Now if you want to get REAL risky with the extra 2x32 in the SCU in the "vehicle" space in the back, then that's a pretty decent haul on one trip.
This is why I've been saying that at least for just straight cargo hauling, this is still a great solo ship. You are only dealing with 6 boxes at 32 SCU which makes loading and unloading alone still fairly quick, with just another 6 boxes if they are 4 SCU boxes. Then there's the extra 2 32SCU boxes if you want to fudge them. Not too bad.
And this is with you deciding to do the longer time option and use twos. You could use 4s preload the actual cargo grid in the middle with 32s send it up load size 4s through the rear and fit them above the grid and through the walk way then the 32s on grid in rear and the 4s on top of those then one at a time the 32s off grid in the rear and 4s on top of them and your golden literally almost doubling the cargo of the rear end and increasing the cargo of the middle by like 1/2@@Gofr5
I already knew how the front middle cargo was going to be, but it was the rear that was interested in seeing how they split the 48SCU on each side. So it's a 32SCU with 3x 4SCU boxes on top of it. Interesting. I figured the middle vehicle section would be only good for another 64 SCU if you wanted to fudge things, but good to see it confirmed.
I think the Statlancer really shines in long runs like hauling all across pyro. It has the Weapons to defend itself and is better in that than other haulers like a RAFT and ofc has the giant living area. And my guess is also that you wont fill that hold all the time and focus more on chaining your contracts. The back might even be better for your personal stuff and supplies like extra fuel or whatever we will get for restocking and having a nursa or a little Vehicle to move in landing zones or even a small snub in the back
To tell the truth, I never understood when people try to shove something that is not provided and does not fit... I'm glad that they made a good distance from the load to the ceiling, without the ability to shove something else there.
it could have been alot more if there was no elevator at all and no wall between the elevator bit and the back side. Also, kinda weird that only the sides in the back are cargo grid and not the entire section.
They are trying to implore players to take vehicles more often. Plus to leave realistic room to move. And realistic is by safety standards. The cargo unions won in the 1900s in real lore 😊
When moving crates onto the ship... don't walk with the box and tractor beam, the collision physics doesn't like it. Get in position and using mouse scroll to bring the crates in, it's much smooth and more importantly, easier.
After some trial and testing of the players the extra grid snap on top of the 32 sculpture box may be added so you could add 4 sculpture boxes on top. Maybe hopefully. Can't wait to try the ship out.
Hey foxy_loxy O7 i counted 694 scu of cargo incl. the remaining cargo floor space of your video, incl the walk way. Be sure to not close up the back with a 4th. 32 scu box on the floor- cause i think it'll be difficult to manuvre 2 scu boxes sideways on top of that cause you cant control the tractor beam over the edge of the box. Rather 8 or 16 scu boxes when you fill up your last floor gap in the back 👍 This ship is awesome.. Now excuse me .. ;D I gotta see how much i can stuff into my Polaris !! haha 😂 🤘
How did you get to 694? I came only to 492 if you're only using the actual cargo bays. The central room can fit 4*32, with 1 more SCU in the central walkway, so it fits 5 wide, 3 high, 16 long. That makes it's capacity 240 SCU. The rear room I've subdivided into 2 sections, the rear open space and the little bit at the end. The rear part of the cargo bay can fit 4*2 wide + 1 it looks like, so that makes it 9 wide, 3 high, 8 long. That makes it's capacity 216 SCU. The front bit of the cargo bay seems to hold 3*8 and 3*4 SCU boxes, so that's another 36, making the rear cargo bay 252 SCU. So the final capacity, if you only count the actual cargo bays (as to not hinder walkability of the ship) to me seems 492 SCU.
Unofficially its 344SCU. If you can fit boxes in that little bit at the back where you can walk through then it could even potentially go up to 368SCU. If you include the walkway on top of all of this then it should be 416SCU. I think.
4x 32scu in the front, 2x 32scu in the back, with 16scu on top of each 32scu( only 2 and 4scu format). Plus the two 32scu in the middle, plus the elevator area. This isn't even trying to fill the 16scu on top of each 32scu in the front:) Potentially another 128 scu on top of the 224scu grid.
That looks like a great ship for cargo runs. I have to admit, it is a bit frustrating that it brand new and can do what my carrack can not... brop the sides down and open to load cargo.
I realized a few days ago I would not even think of getting the Starlancer Max if the Carrack was actually functional for cargo. If it’s a marketing strategy this is sad. :(
So, 96 SCU in the back and 128SCU in the middle, plus, possibly ant least other 64 unsecure in the back and 64 SCU in the middle on top, and still be able to walk around, ehich makes a whopping 356 SCU without even blocking the walkways...
Yep. And if you DO block the walkways, and completely fill the rear hold, you could add another 40 SCU in the rear cargo hold (3x8 SCU + 4x4 SCU, if you put the latter on their sides, they actually do fit between the big ones). As well as putting maybe another 24 on the middle walkway, also in 4 SCU boxes on their sides. Over 400 SCU of cargo, then.
It will not be viable in the future. Unsecured cargo will damage your ship, might even destroy it for good. The fact they didn't add a cargo grid in the middle of the cargo space is because it would of crippled sales on other bigger ships that would of carried the same amount of cargo as this little one.
I dont get why they didn’t gave it a grid in the middle that we can freely use like how the Zeus CL is filled that you can’t exit anymore. My guess is they want the dadicated vehicle parking area without a grid so that you wont run into issue with a box snapping into the Vehicle. but also nobody will loads cargo with a vehicle in the middle. I like how it is organized that way tbh but that is the opposite of the CL
The belly bay holds 4x32scu for 128scu. The rear bay holds 2x32scu plus 8x4scu for a total of 96scu and you can still drive an URSA inside as well with plenty of room either side.
That's interesting how there's dedicated non-cargo grid space. I would think they should still put a cargo grid but give owners the option to put cargo or put vehicles or something in there. But it's almost as if they're nerfing the cargo capacity for some kind of balancing.
the sound the cargoboxes make when hitting the floor and being moved needs to sound more like SCRAPING iron on IRON like nails down a chalk board Try put the 4scu flat boxes ontop they could always create "WEIGHT LIMITS" for ships next so you can carry a max MASS of (number in SCU) and the max weight of each box must be under (Ton) amount. If you overload the ship the ship will handle poorly and i think having a handling modifyer for weight will be the key to the future gameplay for cargo. with weight simulation they can fix the clang too.
32 scu in back looks completely safe...you just have to go and repair your vehicle everytime you load and unload. Or use...omg they found a way to make us use trollies to load our ships!
I had 65 bucks of store credit sitting on my account I upgraded my taurus to this so I'm eagerly seeing how the cargo fits. I will be running this ship with my buddies on the turrets doing erts and looting tasty droogz to sell.
I did my own testing a few hours ago and def can say that I really really enjoy the grid on the Starmax. Stuff fits great. Nothing too tight, everything goes in and out of both cargo holds really easy. Loving it!
Shame for all the wasted space. Four rooms + bathrooms? Double beds? 3x Elevators that go to the same floors? Come on, this thing is called MAX and not HOTEL.
If that ship were real I'd appreciate the redundancy and the crew comfort. At least youd have privacy on longer missions. I hope they make an exploration variant. Im gonna use this more than my polaris
I love so much about this ship but it frustrates me that they got SO CLOSE to a perfect cargo setup, and still couldn't stick the landing :( They should have made it just a tiny bit taller. Have that cowling fold up or something. There should be a requirement for them to load AND unload all thier ships by hand and by ATLS. You use the ATLS on this and the 2tall high boxes will slam into the top as they fly in, and taking anything out will use the "hand" style instead of ATLS style. The back grid is better than most, with a wide entrance but the steepness of the ramp still causes ATLS problems. This ship is FAR better than most everything else though, except maybe a Taurus. My only other NITPICK is the location of that center bay, flanked by the wings, makes it hard to get it close to a elevator for loading/unloading.
you didnt test the whole grid it seems, i filled all obvious spots with only 32 scu containers 4x in front, 2x in back, but im missing 28 scu somewhere. cause 6x 32s is 192 Edit, after testing myself, it seems the cargo back with the ramp, holds 96 scu on grids
And how would you get at top level via the cargo lift? There is a ship in the way. Also unsecured cargo will be quite the hazard for the ship and the people on board it.
It does, however, play significantly nicer with cargo missions when you're using all those 8 SCU boxes. Taurus can fit 14x 8 SCU crates on its cargo grid. Starlancer can fit 24 of them on its grid, and another 10 off the grid in the back.
total 32scu boxes on a Taurus grid - 2. total here - 6. I love the Taurus, but its grid is crap. Oh and with 6x32scu there is still room for your Nursa
@@richardnebelheim9127 Yes but that is the point of this ship and the game, the c2 and hull-c are a step up from the StMax and the Max is a step up from the Taurus but also in terms of money its a step up ;)
Somehow cgi isnt making great ships, what happened to them? In my opinion the raft is the best one, no doors to open etc. I also noticed, cgi's latest ships have a dumb design for cargo, the back doors are made very small, so you are always in trouble loading cargo. But actualy if you look at the 3d model, you ask yourself, wait, but, there could be a bigger ramp to open if they remove those dumb not used stuff... Oh boy......
the raft is the best one? Uh yeah, a ship that has a gantry while we already have tractor beams, a gantry where the cargo boxes were droppable... once you open the lift, the entire top level and habitation area is decompressed since there is no airlock in that elevator lift. Oh and they had to disable collision on the droppers otherwise you weren't able to load the ship at all. The Ramp on the Zeus is perfectly fine.
the same is with the zeus...the ramp door is so small that loading is so hard and i think the only reason they did it with the zeus is so u cant fit an ursa in there because there is still much space to make the entrance bigger but they didnt on purpose
You got me wrong! I mean the raft is the best one for cargo. Else it not updated. On raft you just put all your cargo from 1 to 32 Scu in short time. You should understsnd the context before you comment.
@@ProGamer-gc3wv you were talking about the back doors and that they are very small in the new ships and it makes loading harder and i commentet on it so what did i get wrong??
Not sure why you wouldnt be able to secure 4x32 cargo in the rear hold? Does CIG know you can park a vehicle ontop off a unused cargo grid? This is why I wont be buying anymore ships from CIG. I love everything about this ship except the windshields....the reason I never bought the freelancer 😮💨
8x 32 scu boxes is great capacity and loading speed
when you say more cargo, do you mean boxes or mercenaries?
doesnt look like you can stack those cargo boxes?
I understand it's meant to function as a vehicle bay...but I don't care, I bought the entire cargo bay...I want to use the entire cargo bay.
Don’t let this guy load your ship 😅
you didnt test the whole grid it seems, i filled all obvious spots with only 32 scu containers 4x in front, 2x in back, but im missing 28 scu somewhere. cause 6x 32s is 192
Edit, after testing myself, it seems the cargo back with the ramp, holds 96 scu on grids
Can I land the Starlancer at stations like Baijini Point?
Remember, this IAE, keep your money in your wallet #BoycottIAE Make CIG focus on gameplay instead of nerfing ships and feature creep
What vehicles and ships fit in the rear cargo hold?
video coming out in 30min, and lots of vehicle and ships will fit which surprises me
I can't choose system tell this day , since I melted my ship to buy this freelance max, anyone have this problem. Please tell me
? not cargo grid for 2 additional 32 SCU boxes in a cargo ship? Why? If they ever enforce secured cargo when QTing thats so much wasted space..
And how would you get at top level via the cargo lift? There is a ship in the way. Also unsecured cargo will be quite the hazard for the ship and the people on board it.
That's a lot more ship than a Taurus for not a whole lot more cargo space.
Don't really see the point
It does, however, play significantly nicer with cargo missions when you're using all those 8 SCU boxes.
Taurus can fit 14x 8 SCU crates on its cargo grid.
Starlancer can fit 24 of them on its grid, and another 10 off the grid in the back.
total 32scu boxes on a Taurus grid - 2. total here - 6. I love the Taurus, but its grid is crap. Oh and with 6x32scu there is still room for your Nursa
2 32s and 2 24s
if you get to the point where you want to haul endless amounts of 32s you should get a proper hauler anyways.
like a c2 or hull-c
@@richardnebelheim9127 Yes but that is the point of this ship and the game, the c2 and hull-c are a step up from the StMax and the Max is a step up from the Taurus but also in terms of money its a step up ;)
Now, THIS is the C1 killer.
If it fits its ships grid be damed
The ramp on zeus is pefect? Oh boy, try to put 16 csu, or evrn 8.... its a mass bs. I like the zeus, but not for cargo.
The stupid nonsense around cargo grids is unecessary. They hold back cargo space/AND waste obvious space on so many dedicated cargo ships.
Shouldn't non Americans say 'Maths'
Ur a bit slow lmao.
