- Hope everyone is having a great start to the new year, somehow I ended up catching a bad case of the flu, pink eye and a nasty infection from a century plant. I was able to get ahold of the homeowner and asked if they would allow me to clean up the property for free and they gave me the green light, unfortunately I wasn't able to complete the entire property due to homeowner and the neighbor getting into a confrontation.

As long as you have the homeowners permission to do their yard and lawn the neighbors have nothing to do with it. Ignore the neighbors and continue to do your job. Thanks for helping people out you can’t do for themselves.

This was a huge amount of work for 1 man, in 1 day. Someone neglected the property for a few years. When I see a Cadillac in the driveway...it makes me wonder what's up. I have no respect for the home owner! You deserve to be paid handsomely for this effort...you even blew off the darn roof. Get well and good luck, sir. You do have my respect.

Sorry to hear of your illness and the reaction to a plant which should be illegal to grow. I think you are amazing going on to the roof to clear it. Some people do not appreciate a gift when they receive it.

too lazy to even move their garden hose...just drive on it by what it looks like where there car is parked. Some people should never have a house....if ya aren't going to do the upkeep ...go to apartment!

Just walk away as fast as your legs will take you if they try to drag you into it! If not, act like you are deaf and mute. If someone tries to get physical try to leave. If they refuse to let you escape, do what you got to do to get out of there.

I hope you are proud of yourself - and I truly mean that - you did an incredibly detailed job. I've caught a few clean-up channels and you're the first one I've seen do detailed pruning, cut down a tree, cleaning off the roof, etc. in addition to the yardwork itself. So much effort and the outcome was outstanding. Mad respect.
In this day and age I’d go home til they went to jail , or wanted to act civilized!
And he’s the first one I’ve seen bag the pieces he edged off. The others I’ve seen just throw those on the grass and mow over them which doesn’t look as good in the end.

and yard chemicals, gloves to protect your hands, and eye and ear protection will save you some grief. You did a
really great restoration on that property.
Great work! As far as de-escalation of neighbors, if it doesn’t directly involve you, example the work you are doing, where you are parked, etc., stay out of it. You have no prior knowledge to their relationship and you could make it worse if they think you’re taking the other person’s side. If it gets to a physical level, leave or call the police. Stay safe!

My sister served in the Canadian Army, she was a mechanic. She was injured and had about a year to finish. They were afraid they were going to have to pay a disability on top of her pension; while she was in base hospital they would withhold medication making things much worse. They wanted her to sign papers saying the injury was not related to her service. Her husband moved her out of base hospital to non army hospital and refused anyone from seeing her. The Canadian army and our government seems to abandon their responsibility to our service men and women in need or once they leave the military. Thank you for your service.

pink eye, allergies and the flu!! Hope you're feeling better!
Allergies can cause pink eye. My youngest had so many environmental allergies that the doctor allowed me to have medication for conjunctivitis at all times. As soon as she said her eyes were hurting, in went the drops. Thankfully with three years of allergy shots, she finally got past that stage. Pink eye is not fun! With pink eye and the flu, you should be home in bed. Take care of yourself first.
I think what you did when confronted with the situation was absolutely right. Do what you can to finish what you went there for and Hope your goodness becomes an example for them and that they feel a little more kindness towards each other.

Brother you are 100% right in your warning !!I cut a century plant with a little chain saw that covered me with pulp and juice. Within about 15 minutes I could barely breathe. A friend was driving me to urgent care when I spotted some aloe growing near the road. We stopped and I rubbed/washed the aloe pulp all over my face chest and arms. Luckily the symptom subsided. Very scary!
I wish someone would have told me before hand lol but at least we know now. 💪🏾💪🏾

I am often amazed at the amount of trash and debris landscapers are expected to deal with - multiple pots, hoses, cans, bottles, clothing, tables, chairs, autos and auto parts, garbage and garbage bags, building materials, dogs. Wow! You made this woman's yard neat, clean, and pretty. You've done MORE than expected. You even salvaged her trellis plant. Double wow. Hope she appreciated your time, talent, and dedication to your craft. You have my vote.

As far as the neighbors fueling, that's between them, you have nothing to do with it.
It bites that you didn't get to finish. I would have gone to the neighbor that interrupted your job. She doesn't have to know you were doing it for free. I'd have said " ma'am I'm here to get a job done and all I want to do is finish ". Then if she had thrown her fit some more, then you just leave then.

It is not only the overgrown yard, it is the amount of trash that was found in there. I do not understand how can these people live without caring a bit about their homes.
