I’ll be real, Ultimate isn’t very fun to watch competitively. I found myself constantly checking my phone during top 8 during almost every match.
Also, top 8 too nearly SEVEN HOURS. A best of 5 takes nearly 40 minutes. Melee top 8 took less than half the time of ultimate top 8
It's just way too long, SF6 and other fg's are much shorter per set.

Zomba pulled no major tourneys in 2023, is playing a chara that is less technical and mentally taxing than some of his contemporaries, and won probably moreso due to ring rust against ROB. Leffen was interesting because he was a consistent threat to the five gods. Zomba rarely scratches top 4, it was just a childish callout.

@@davidc. If you must know, then no I actually love having an annoying egocentric heel around. For example, Leffen is a large part of what made the melee community so fun. Zomba was mostly just the straw that broke the camel's back. One day he was doing his usual Zomba boasting thing and I just had a moment of introspection and wondered why I was watching this kid go off about how cool he is instead of literally anything else. He was also one of like 4 very active, top-performing Rob players at the time so that was kinda annoying too lol.
Also, it's not like I stopped following smash. It's still my favorite game to watch competitively, I just don't go out of my way to catch tournaments live. I mostly just watch vods of my favorite players' sets and Coney's recaps like this one.

Grand finals was so frustrating because who do you even root for? on one hand you have sonix whose best thing about him is literally just Coney's super mario speedrun bit to try and make him at least somewhat bearable to sit thru, and on the other hand you have zomba who became the most pretentious childish kid in ultimate apparently. Zomba is embracing a villain character to gain attention. He talks a lot of trash obviously he can back it up. However after every match he still shows respect towards others as he still shakes his rivals hands. Leffen in the other hand gets involve on drama to gather attention, makes false allegations sometimes incriminating that can potentially ruins people’s life, he gathers his audience to harass others players such as hungrybox, he also cries like a baby when he loses to the point of wanting rules to change in smash. Zomba and leffen are nothing alike. Zomba might be cocky but hey him stearing the pot is like how boxers and UFC fighters do before a fight. Heating things up to make the matches more interesting. Still he doesn’t provoke the audience to attack other players. The dude also deserves a promoter in my opinion. That being do you agree with my comment? I would like to hear your thoughts. 😊
