I have family members who don't have any French.
How difficult might it be for non-Francophones to spend weeks (or months) in La Rochelle?
“It would be possible to get by without much French here for a tourist stay. There are plenty of British tourists spending time here in summer, so it’s expected that wait and sales staff be dealing with Anglophones during the high season. Businesses are likely to have at least one person on staff who can speak English at least from June to September, though the help may be seasonal (meaning you can’t count on it year-round). Bon voyage!”
