My late hubby and I bonded over music. He'd drag me up to sing with him, when he was running karoke. This was one of our best songs. We just automatically harmonized. We were told a number of times that this was a favorite song for us to sing.
This song hits so different now. Me and my Daughter would belt this song out on the way to her Jr rodeos and my wife would just shake her head at us and laugh. We thought we harmonized pretty good. I lost my wife May 2023 and I feel the cold ones everyday now. My Daughter is 30 now and still loves this song I just hide my tears so I don’t jade the song for her.
Same for me with my Daddy down to the type of cancer he had. I usually just listen because the video is too real for me... but it's honest and I so respect that.
I have to say it is so wonderful and so refreshing to see a young lady around your age, which looks to be around mine, that love real good country music like this. Everybody in 2 days pathetic Society love all this stupid rap crap. Real music is dying and I love to see someone else who loves it especially a younger soul.
i swear i will never get tired of this song. i have to listen to it loud as possible at least 3 times on repeat. just belting out every word while driving. gives me chills everytime i hear it.
The only thing that really made much sense how you showed back up that way only makes in one way! God! And J I heaven! They sent you here to protect us through our storms! You know how J trusted you with everything! He knows you can defend any enemy! He knows who taught you! That was his passion too! You know this is true!
When she touches that new little bloom. That's what gets me. An old tree fell in half out back of the house and I thought; I got to cut the rest down and haul it off. A few days went by when I noticed a new growth started appearing from the dead side of the tree. I think that changed my life forever. ( Never give up )
Such a Tragedy!! Troy Gentry you are missed, to me he was a great talent and the best looking man in Country music. And I am 100) Straight he was and will always be a legend. R.I.P my Brother!!
Eddie and Troy. .two real good ol boys. Their music is for the simple man. Lost my Mama to cancer 2 years ago I wanted to be a musician and Daddy thinks its foolish. Mama believed. Lots of cold ones now.
These guys Montgomery Gentry will Absolutely Are & Will Forever Be 1 Of The Greatest Duo's In Country Music History Their Legacy Will Last All Eternity PLEASE Rest In Peace Troy Gentry
Rest in Peace Dear Troy, I miss you and love you. Thank you Eddie so much for keepin' MG Rockin'. God Bless you Eddie. This fan is forever grateful for yours and Troy's music.
It is even over week later, so heart breaking for Eddie & his band family and his wife & kids to him ALL family. I find comfort in that I am finding many fans are having the same struggling with how much has affected each and everyone one of us, RIP Troy
Damn! These guys are simply the best.!!! Great song, great lyrics, a pleasure to listen to, and music you can relate to. You can never get enough Montgomery Gentry. Hell yeah.
Montgomery Gentry is a good duo and I am so sorry to hear about Troy Gentry today may he rest in peace and the music lives on and prayers for his family and friends too
When I was a high school Agriculture Teacher, I organized a busload of FFA members to The National FFA Convention in Lousville.Another FFA Advisor/ chaperone told me to get tickets for this concert
Here I am 3yrs after your comment and feel the exact same way still! They performed along with a few others (Phil Vassar, Jamie O'Neill and Montgomery Gentry) at a Kenny Chesney concert and probably the highlight for me because I love them! Their songs still get stuck in my head and I was genuinely heartbroken to know that there'd be no more new music from them.
Have Loved this song since the very first time I ever heard it. I watched Daddy die with cancer at home. Didn't bother to find someplace else to go. Only three of us was there to help. 2 of us worked 10 and 12 hr. shifts. We paid for his meds, firewood, helped with the rent and groceries too. Mom couldn't do it by herself. The others were selfish. One was in Kentucky and couldn't make the trip as often as she would've liked. My brother and I were happy to be there.
Sarah Teasley I understand how you feel. My mom had a heart attack in 2016 and was on oxygen. She was hospitalized I'm not sure how many times in 2016 due to her heart. Last year Lord called her home. Girls who worked and helped take care of her all miss her.
They don't raise kiddos like you anymore, God bless your dad and you as well. I know when the belt came off, it was time to straighten up. He raised some wonderful lil' ens'
I can relate to this on so many levels. I took care of my mom the last 6 years she was living. Held down a full time job with a total witch of a boss who didnt care less but she never missed an appt or anything. Have two sisters that lived a stone's throw away from the house yet never once offered lifting a finger to help. I handled it all alone sadly. My opinion was/is she took care of me when I couldn't myself so I returned the favor.
When all the anger and the frustration pent up...you get so angry and just tired of all the disappointment and living for others...you just start thinking....
this reminds me of life in life! My heart heard this song and years of tears came back like a river, the end is true too real. both my Mother and my Grand Mother had Husband's with illness. It is so true
these boys are the ball kickin real thing. I've played music a long time but I've been southern longer than I've admitted to it. if you don't appreciate the candid way these men play music, don't bother pretending to be country.
Here in 2023 still loving these guys. Everyone slept on them til it was too late.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
R.I.P. T-Roy. One of the greatest voices Country Music Ever Had. 🙏🏼✝️
💔 I couldn't agree, and also such charisma & a big heart

Very Cool Song even in 2023 can I get a hell yeah👍
This song deserved better than #23 on the charts. RIP, Troy!
Totally agree. I don't know if it would have been a #1 hit, but definitely should have been a top 10
It should've been included on their greatest hits album, right along with "You do your thing," and "All night long."
It would have made it to #1 , if it where up to me.
One of my Favorite Montgomery Gentry of all time
@@walksthesehills Great minds think a like
This video brakes my heart my husband of 15 years passed away from cancer 6 years ago
Same for me with my Daddy down to the type of cancer he had. I usually just listen because the video is too real for me... but it's honest and I so respect that.

What sucks is that they refuse to include it, as well as "You Do Your Thing," on any of their greatest hits CDs.

Every time the dog comes up to her at the end I lose my shit. Nothing truer than a dogs love
I have lived this song/video everyday for 13 years. It is the truest thing I have ever seen in a video.
You all are good artists

Some people just have no taste

First song I ever heard them do. Loved it instantly, love the way they harmonize and love the simple, profound lyrics.
Take me back to The Grapevine days. We miss you Troy Lee.
