Idk why this anime doesn’t get more credit. It captures the spirit of both Gunpla building and the battles from the older series. The suits move with the considerable heft they logically should possess, not do super robot kickflips like in the post Build Fighter era. I love the Build series, especially ReRise, but Beginning G is a true love letter to both the hobby and the legacy of the anime. This needs to be held in higher regard. I’m sad by how short it is, would love to see a full season.
You know this series inspired me to build better as well put more effort and personal creativity into my builds. Right now my RGM-86 GM III which was my first model back in 2012 is basking in it's brand new three tone paint job with the beam sabers drying after a dip in gloss blue paint. Bandai gave me an awesome hobby to do.

There's a lot of good stuff in it.
IMO Gunpla Builders and Build Fighters are first and foremost shows about the hobby of Gunpla as opposed to the later series that barely give the hobby the light of day and just turn it into a video game. I loved the gratuitous Gunpla moments, like @18:18, where they painstakingly animate him using sandpaper to strip away the nub marks.

Imagine you joined a free-for-all lounge with your free-to-play character with just good enough items from your hours long grinding, then suddenly getting in cross-fire between two high-level characters, both maxed their stats and fully moded with expansive pay-to-win items.
This ova just so much better than the latest gundam build series, i guess this one feel more realistic on the gunpla and cockpit system, thus more appealing for the older fans like me. 😁

What makes it more weird it’s that the 1/550 is the first Big Zam Gunpla ever made which was released 1981. So he was piloting an ancient gunpla, but they do still make those old kits in low numbers i believe.
As of a few months ago, the technology to scan customized Gunpla and render it as a digital model exists and is being tested. It's only a matter of time now before real life Gunpla Battle is possible.

gunpla builders beginning g: build your gunpla put hard work into it like paint it coat it etc .just scan your gundam and it will apear in the simulation, your gunpla will not be destroy irl after battle, sit in cockpit like simulation machine and wear cool mobiles suit pilot outfit😍👍 gundam build fighters/try: painstakingly build gunpla to perfection gets destroyed in battle, have to rebuild parts after each battle if damaged, stand on your feet until god knows when the battle is gonna end😑🙄

The animation is better because this is a shorter OVA, therefore the budget for the production can be distributed among just 40 minutes instead of 25 23 minute episodes.

Willy kun anything can be used in space seeing how bear guy was flying around in space though very limited in its ability to move since it's arms and legs have no thrusters
Ground Type can't be used in space ,only back thrusters can't help them ,but bearguy is based on acguy ,an underwater mobile suit ,pretty much it can move a bit in space with some thrusters using underwater.
I think the ground types can be modified into use for space. the gm space type only differs from the ground type because of the addition of a space gm backpack. Check gm early type.

I couldn't agree with you more. This OVA got me into Gunpla building. And an actual series would have expanded this earlier BUILD universe.
