lucky_sebass Until the show actually starts, we don't know for absolute certainty if that is just Rommel's avatar or his actual body. That said, we see Non Humans outside their battle, in a stadium that the battle wasn't even taking place in. Ergo that sprawling cityscape where the stadium is at, is very likely the real world in a beautiful future setting. At this juncture it would be very easy to confuse such a cityscape as being completely Virtual.

So this time their theme is Full Dive VR Battle, but at least their still using Gunpla Model, that maybe functioning as the battle data memory. This prologue is so entertaining and exciting. That's true. AGE MS are have a cool design and will be awesome with some little tweak and customize. The only one bad is the character portrayal in the series.

looks cool, I like the whole avatar thing there going with, (Yes including the animal ones, their online personas for people to represent themselves That's the point get over it). I like the Age 2 magnums design and the 00 Build Diver. it looks like the cockpits from freedom and the rest of the design is a 00 Gundam upgrade. The prologue did it's job well in showing what is some of the new technology atmosphere, possible antagonist, the protagonist, and setting.. Initial impressions... I'm interested and will watch.

The writer of GBF hasn't come back to "finish that Aria plot" yet. So, while waiting, Sunrise might as well make another loosely-related sequel or alternate series like Try & GBD. No harms come from them, sales-wise.
At first I was a little off-putted that they didn't go and give us a straight sequel to Fighters Try, but after seeing the battles in this I have three things to say. Firstly, the series made a big jump on the story's timeline this time, being less than 8 years from Try, basing it off of the current Gundam Championship so most of the first season characters are now older at around their late 20s or early 30s and the Team Try Fighters are probably already graduated from their universities. Luckily the story does have some consistency with the advent of the technology now including an VR system. Its like Gundam mixed in with a VRChat and its similar to that you see in Accel World or SAO which is cool and sweet. Another consistency is that the series expanded on competitive teams, turning the 3-man group to an entire team of 10 members and, rather than just the destruction of all members like in Try its the destruction of the Flag MS. This makes the fights a bit more technical with I love and what I'll be getting into a bit later. Second point, the animation, has, at least for this prologue, dipped a bit. the machines when shooting don't animate much especially for that white Bawoo at the end of the tunnel that just stands and its gun just fires as a hallmark of the worst scene in this episode, animations for transforming is just two frames and most movement feels stiff. Even on the good scenes the the movement is a bit slow making for big hitting moments (except for that wonderful shot of the Big Gun blasting through the entire colony) to fall a little bit but not so much that it detriments all of the intensity of said scenes. Finally is the actual action, and how it was directed, and its this part that I find to be the best thing that this series has and what will probably carry it forward. There's actual strategy being used in this fight like the act of picking your Flag MS, the entire plan of the 7th Panzer Division using surveillance through drones, faking the death of one unit to hide their Zaku I Sniper's existence and said Zaku I firing a Big Gun from the **other block within the colony to eliminate Kyoya, who went to the Tunnel Block, from the Residential Block below** which was the best scene in the whole episode and a testament on the kinds of strategies that these characters will implore to win. It was a little bullshit that Kyoya's unit survived the attack for the most part but the acknowledgement of the feat between the captains was a nice touch at the very least. The character designs also took a step back especially with our main cast, becoming even more like a typical kids anime like Danball Senki, later adaptations of Digimon, and probably Cardfight Vanguard so that's a little disappointing. At least Rommel, despite his furry appearance, is more interesting than Kyoya's though he's also a bit more interesting than everyone else but that's because he has to have the "top dog that the protagonist looks up to and later becomes his rival" character design. TL;DR This focus on more technical fights is a good breath of fresh air for Build Fighters and is why I am looking forward to where this series will go and what it'll show off once it actually goes live. So for the most part, this sequel has potential ALSO THERE'S FURRIES AND I'M NOT SURE WHY BUT OKAY JUST DON'T MAKE ME FEEL WEIRD WHEN YOU GIVE ME A CUTE ONE THAT'LL MAKE ME RETHINK OF MY FETISHES.
Didn't they specifically say that that Bawoo that was just standing there not moving was not piloted? It was just on autopilot basically, to make them think they took someone out early.
I only have a couple of episodes left of GBD but I saw I had missed this and came back to watch it for completion's sake. So glad I did -- pretty convinced this is the best scene in the entire show.
its both happy and heartbreaking knowing that Hiroto and Eve where there in that challenge! from what i could gather they were together for almost a year, and they defiantly lovers. there is no way that Avalon doesn't know about the life that was lost. i still hope that the truth gets revealed and both units of Build DiVERs can have a proper funeral! and GBN will have a memorial Day
absolutely love this series. NOW, where is the game for it? we need a breaker 3 combat style mmo, with open world pvp combat and pve missions that pay homage to the shows. imagine picking a side for the jaburo attack, and teaming up with your friends , in your custom gunpla, to either attack or defend it. or any other big important battle in the history of gundam. And make it cross platform, and not only in japan. plz and thank you

Why don't we step that up and now make a season with *TEN* characters on each team? That way we certainly will be able to make all of them lovable and memorable! Reito Shizaki It would be no different from any other gundam series that has several pilots on one ship coordinating missions. Plus it didn't focus on all 10 characters of each team, only 3 or 4 each.
@Ryan Walters it would also mean each team will have 6-8 characters no one will care about, whose sole jobs on the battlefield is to eat whatever the protagonist/enemy's biggest flashy attacks is and die without much fanfare. They'd be the epitome of waste of space and again, would you really want the protagonist to have a team of 6 characters we don't remember? Tri already was that, even Fumina and Yuuma were reduced to jobbers to be knocked out of the ring whenever the story demands Sekai to be in the limelight. Or even look at IBO, do you remember any Tekkadan pilots outside of Mika, Akihiro, Shino and maybe Ride?
Reito Shizaki congratulations, you just described every background character in every gundam series. They're cannon fodder that make the main character's shine. Let's face it, did we really want to know more about Gyanko's other team members in Build Fighters Try? There are plenty of background characters that we see on a regular basis, but they don't play a significant role beyond battle support.
Point is, they aren't even "battle support". Their point is to die and be forgotten. In other Gundam series with actual warfare, that makes sense having cannon fodders because it's just logically stupid and improbable to send 1 guy to fight an entire army. Nevertheless the cannon fodders of those series are still implied to be fighting the enemy cannon fodders to allow the protagonists to fight the enemy bosses. All Gundam series boils down to "protagonist unit VS enemy boss unit" anyway. But in settings like Build Fighter when it's a sport, it means every team has 6 completely incompetent members who will never accomplish anything. So ask yourself, do you want the protagonist's team to have that one guy piloting a GM only to get blown up 10 seconds into every match? Does having that character make the story better? Or would you rather just skip the bullshit have a 1v1 like the first GBF? And I'm not even talking about the members of Gyanko's team when I'm talking about Try. I'm talking about Gyanko herself, Shia, Adou, Wilfrid, Suga, Junya, etc who ended up being one dimensional characters because the show didn't spend enough time fleshing them out. And then it still is annoying whenever Fumina and Yuuma got ringed out 2 minutes into the fight because "oh this is Sekai's fight, not theirs". If you wanna do a 1v1, do a 1v1. Don't do a 3v3 or 10v10 then pretends its a 1v1 because no one else matters.
Ya know i never understood why Bandai refuses to go all in and finally give us a Gunpla battle game that instead of overused arena brawlers are more like Armored Core 4 Answer in gameplay but actually lets us physically alter how a OC Gunpla looks and fights. (I know limitations, but you know have it like say you use a RX-78 Gundam or Zaku head and you have different options of decals, colors, and various V-Fins and Horns to choose from. Same with limbs for example, like how Wing Fenice started out as a normal, but green wing gundam. But Fellini changed the ankle and knee armor of the Wing Gundam's to be asymmetrical and "knightly." So while we logically can't 100% alter gunpla for a multiplayer game, we can still have a small selection of cosmetic permutations to choose from rather that just change the limbs with other machines that makes them look wonky.)

Dont remind me of Lok and Carta... God I hated listening to those characters, every second spent hoping somebody would kill them and shut them up. Lok is a coward with bravado and Carta a stuck up brat with a superiority complex.
I'm excited for this season, butit's got my thoughts racing. The interface they use feels more like an upgraded version of the Gunpla combat system used in Gunpla Builders Beginning G rather than the one we've seen used throughout Build Fighters. The way they present it also means there probably won't be any damage to the Gunpla due to combat, which means we won't be seeing characters fixing their Gunpla all the time, which can be seen as both a good and bad thing. I will say that I enjoy the fact that we've got an AGE MS VS a G-Reco MS first thing, as I feel those are season that smaller sections of the fanbase enjoy. The reveal of the Grimoire pilot also being a ferret was pretty funny, but I don't know how I feel about everyone using game avatars. The fact that this does take place in a game means that we can have the down-to-earth nature of Build Fighters Try while having a logical excuse for crazier shenanigans like in the original Build Fighters. I'm ok with that happening, but I'm not excited for it as I actually enjoyed Try as a card game-like show that didn't have magic and the world at steak like in every other show about collectible cards and toys, and this setting gives us a perfect excuse to go back to that kind of thing, which I hope they ignore. I just want more good fights and fun characters and awesome customs. I don't need the show to have high stakes.
dayum it, you just made me hungry mentioning steak... Shonen genre keeps the usual tension, the threat, the big bad in their story but in this one since it's straight up in-game(as i know of) there's a sense of balance unlike the BF/Try which is like How the Fuck--

yamizer0 well honestly this is like the old gen in terms of advertising gunpla. Only more fiercesome on that advertising and way less mature. I love gundam unicorn also. The complex story is the appealing and so is the mecha of UC. I think Sunrise could be making another series if they wanted to this year to appeal to the older demographic and anyway with this they could entice the newer fans to come and watch the other series so it works both ways.
You won't find it in Build Fighters, or any of the Gunpla series for that matter. They're supposed to be light-hearted and a little bit goofy compared to the "real" series.

After watching this series multiple time I can say that, at least in MY. OWN. OPINION. it's a decent series. Bringing some outstanding designs like the age 2 magnum. Though many hate it I like build divers.

Gundam have always been promo for their toys. The only difference is how much effort they had put into each show. It seems like they are getting lazy with the writing in Gundam Build series.

AHMN I wouldn't say any fights in Build are great. I agree that the animations are great, but it is all about who can make flashiest lighting effect. There are so many MS in the Gundam franchise, they can make perhaps the best action sequence by incorporating characteristics of each MS from different universes, but what they decided to do was either shoot out bigger and flashier beam or summon a phoenix from your robot.

If they cant do season 3. I hope atleast they show us life in Arian (Aila and Reiji) and.more about their daughter. Maybe also a possible reunion and duel with Sei and the others (maybe with BFT aswell)

Finally is the actual action, and how it was directed, and its this part that I find to be the best thing that this series has and what will probably carry it forward. There's actual strategy being used in this fight like the act of picking your Flag MS, the entire plan of the 7th Panzer Division using surveillance through drones, faking the death of one unit to hide their Zaku I Sniper's existence and said Zaku I firing a Big Gun from the **other block within the colony to eliminate Kyoya, who went to the Tunnel Block, from the Residential Block below** which was the best scene in the whole episode and a testament on the kinds of strategies that these characters will implore to win. It was a little bullshit that Kyoya's unit survived the attack for the most part but the acknowledgement of the feat between the captains was a nice touch at the very least.
The character designs also took a step back especially with our main cast, becoming even more like a typical kids anime like Danball Senki, later adaptations of Digimon, and probably Cardfight Vanguard so that's a little disappointing. At least Rommel, despite his furry appearance, is more interesting than Kyoya's though he's also a bit more interesting than everyone else but that's because he has to have the "top dog that the protagonist looks up to and later becomes his rival" character design.
TL;DR This focus on more technical fights is a good breath of fresh air for Build Fighters and is why I am looking forward to where this series will go and what it'll show off once it actually goes live. So for the most part, this sequel has potential

I only have a couple of episodes left of GBD but I saw I had missed this and came back to watch it for completion's sake. So glad I did -- pretty convinced this is the best scene in the entire show.

NOW, where is the game for it? we need a breaker 3 combat style mmo, with open world pvp combat and pve missions that pay homage to the shows. imagine picking a side for the jaburo attack, and teaming up with your friends , in your custom gunpla, to either attack or defend it. or any other big important battle in the history of gundam. And make it cross platform, and not only in japan. plz and thank you

They'd be the epitome of waste of space and again, would you really want the protagonist to have a team of 6 characters we don't remember?
Tri already was that, even Fumina and Yuuma were reduced to jobbers to be knocked out of the ring whenever the story demands Sekai to be in the limelight.
Or even look at IBO, do you remember any Tekkadan pilots outside of Mika, Akihiro, Shino and maybe Ride?
Reito Shizaki congratulations, you just described every background character in every gundam series. They're cannon fodder that make the main character's shine. Let's face it, did we really want to know more about Gyanko's other team members in Build Fighters Try? There are plenty of background characters that we see on a regular basis, but they don't play a significant role beyond battle support.
Point is, they aren't even "battle support". Their point is to die and be forgotten.
In other Gundam series with actual warfare, that makes sense having cannon fodders because it's just logically stupid and improbable to send 1 guy to fight an entire army. Nevertheless the cannon fodders of those series are still implied to be fighting the enemy cannon fodders to allow the protagonists to fight the enemy bosses. All Gundam series boils down to "protagonist unit VS enemy boss unit" anyway.
But in settings like Build Fighter when it's a sport, it means every team has 6 completely incompetent members who will never accomplish anything. So ask yourself, do you want the protagonist's team to have that one guy piloting a GM only to get blown up 10 seconds into every match? Does having that character make the story better? Or would you rather just skip the bullshit have a 1v1 like the first GBF?
And I'm not even talking about the members of Gyanko's team when I'm talking about Try. I'm talking about Gyanko herself, Shia, Adou, Wilfrid, Suga, Junya, etc who ended up being one dimensional characters because the show didn't spend enough time fleshing them out.
And then it still is annoying whenever Fumina and Yuuma got ringed out 2 minutes into the fight because "oh this is Sekai's fight, not theirs". If you wanna do a 1v1, do a 1v1. Don't do a 3v3 or 10v10 then pretends its a 1v1 because no one else matters.
To see AGEpla actually shine and not be relegated as jobbers (LOOKING AT YOU, VAGAN GEAR K FROM GBF:T) makes me a very happy man.
If this is the next build series, I approve of this greatly.
Ya know i never understood why Bandai refuses to go all in and finally give us a Gunpla battle game that instead of overused arena brawlers are more like Armored Core 4 Answer in gameplay but actually lets us physically alter how a OC Gunpla looks and fights. (I know limitations, but you know have it like say you use a RX-78 Gundam or Zaku head and you have different options of decals, colors, and various V-Fins and Horns to choose from. Same with limbs for example, like how Wing Fenice started out as a normal, but green wing gundam. But Fellini changed the ankle and knee armor of the Wing Gundam's to be asymmetrical and "knightly." So while we logically can't 100% alter gunpla for a multiplayer game, we can still have a small selection of cosmetic permutations to choose from rather that just change the limbs with other machines that makes them look wonky.)

I'm excited for this season, butit's got my thoughts racing. The interface they use feels more like an upgraded version of the Gunpla combat system used in Gunpla Builders Beginning G rather than the one we've seen used throughout Build Fighters. The way they present it also means there probably won't be any damage to the Gunpla due to combat, which means we won't be seeing characters fixing their Gunpla all the time, which can be seen as both a good and bad thing.
I will say that I enjoy the fact that we've got an AGE MS VS a G-Reco MS first thing, as I feel those are season that smaller sections of the fanbase enjoy. The reveal of the Grimoire pilot also being a ferret was pretty funny, but I don't know how I feel about everyone using game avatars. The fact that this does take place in a game means that we can have the down-to-earth nature of Build Fighters Try while having a logical excuse for crazier shenanigans like in the original Build Fighters. I'm ok with that happening, but I'm not excited for it as I actually enjoyed Try as a card game-like show that didn't have magic and the world at steak like in every other show about collectible cards and toys, and this setting gives us a perfect excuse to go back to that kind of thing, which I hope they ignore. I just want more good fights and fun characters and awesome customs. I don't need the show to have high stakes.

yamizer0 well honestly this is like the old gen in terms of advertising gunpla. Only more fiercesome on that advertising and way less mature. I love gundam unicorn also. The complex story is the appealing and so is the mecha of UC. I think Sunrise could be making another series if they wanted to this year to appeal to the older demographic and anyway with this they could entice the newer fans to come and watch the other series so it works both ways.
You won't find it in Build Fighters, or any of the Gunpla series for that matter. They're supposed to be light-hearted and a little bit goofy compared to the "real" series.

After watching this series multiple time I can say that, at least in MY. OWN. OPINION. it's a decent series. Bringing some outstanding designs like the age 2 magnum. Though many hate it I like build divers.

Gundam have always been promo for their toys. The only difference is how much effort they had put into each show. It seems like they are getting lazy with the writing in Gundam Build series.

AHMN I wouldn't say any fights in Build are great. I agree that the animations are great, but it is all about who can make flashiest lighting effect. There are so many MS in the Gundam franchise, they can make perhaps the best action sequence by incorporating characteristics of each MS from different universes, but what they decided to do was either shoot out bigger and flashier beam or summon a phoenix from your robot.
Looking forward to this but hope this doesn't mean the Gundam Build Fighters series is over

If they cant do season 3. I hope atleast they show us life in Arian (Aila and Reiji) and.more about their daughter. Maybe also a possible reunion and duel with Sei and the others (maybe with BFT aswell)
