It's why I see how Hiroto was rougher on himself because he took so long to acknowledge he hated himself and knew he was selfish, while Riku, despite being younger, KNEW how selfish his actions to want to save Sarah were and even acknowledged that fact but was thankful his courage united everyone when it counted, where Hiroto ran away from himself, the truth, and his sadness.
Yeah. His self loathing for having to kill Eve and his jealousy for Riku being able to get to Sarah pushed Hiroto over because he couldn't see he was mad at himself for so long and just simply blaming Riku because he was envious he was able to do what he himself was unable to do.

It's obvious that it didn't WANT to shoot Riku and the 00 Sky down because it wanted to keep the promise Hiroto had made to Eve before she died, yet Hiroto was trying to force his own anguish, his jealousy towards Riku being able to save Sarah when he couldn't save Eve (and even if he tried, she wouldn't have lasted given she held the brunt of the bugs caused by the Break Decals and Sarah's powers within herself and it would destroy GBN if she didn't die).
