Before we standardized on the Greenwich Meridian, several powers used one or another point of the Canaries as their 0⁰ which was frankly a useful convention, that way only those islands would have both ⁰E and ⁰W in same polity (unless as in one case their westernmost point as 0⁰). Brilliant! But the observational convenience of having the observatory on the meridian won out over convenience of the dat users..
Bill, I was hoping you would make a comment and what an interesting one to make. When I was editing the narration I realised that at one point I had said ‘playa’ instead of ‘puerto’. It was hardly noticeable and I thought I would leave it, I mean who would notice? Then I thought ‘Bill will notice’. So I re-recorded it 😊
I suppose I might notice. Do they call the beach there Playa ? This was an interesting change of pace for you (iirc there was one island resort before), but I appreciated that you still found a good time-lapse subject. On FB I've beens seeing CaptainKate's CaptainsLog 'reels' lately. A different view on the cruising experience. Also on FB someone commented that the ship 🚢 taking a port visit in Portland ME had more folks onboard than a particular Maine town. I replied that said town matched the ship 1:1 for casinos but as it wasn't the top tier ship, the town's auto racing oval had it one up, only the top tier have kart racing tracks. 😉
