@@guayihchangSeems like you know nothing more than him though. In some case, children truly are the retirement fund, but definitely not those whose dream is becoming a basketball player.
@@Tiger-vc8ju Interesting… You were talking about one person and you said I knew nothing. I was talking about Chinese parents in general anyways. I did not have beef with Lin and her mother.
Shout out to mama Lin for believing in you and supporting your dreams because 9 out of 10 times…most Asians parents wouldn’t approve the thought or idea that wasn’t so realistic and also has no guarantees that you’ll ever make it to become successful…instead the parents would tell you to continue your education and find a career that will make you some 💰…I wish more Asians parents especially the older generations can hear this story and see this example…hopefully that will break old traditions and accustoms in Asian cultures 💯
You're right, but Jeremy's story is an incredible anomaly. In another interview, he said he listed 13-15 things (completely out of his control) that HAD TO GO RIGHT in order to make the NBA. And that's just getting into the league. Before Linsanity. And don't forget, Linsanity almost never happened. If Linsanity never happened, his NBA career would've ended with the Knicks. It took incredible luck for Mama Lin's gamble to pay off.
@@fireball_55yea man. That’s the right logic for a grownup. You nailed it. And most times, it is the right choice. Matured people lose all potentials in chase for the reality, sure. But they are the real heroes. After a certain age, people should realize there is an expensive price for “your dream”, if you have the freedom to chase it, that must mean someone else is giving up theirs for you to do so.
@@tehjunkfood i mean "fine" is subjective. He has a degree in economics with a low GPA. incredible. im very lucky to have a mom that always did whatever she could for me, regardless of our situation and and relatively no means to spare. i hope to be able to show her my gratitude one day by giving her a life she deserves, so far ive fallen short... still grinding. To anyone out there that needs to hear this...your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. keep going... you'll get exactly what you want if you don't stop. the universe will provide. keep those legs moving, youre almost there.
Yes! He also made excellent use of the advantages his mom sacrificed to give him! Not only in scaling the collegiate summit, but an athletic summit as well! That's a nearly impossible feat...
Blessed and highly favored! Folks (like myself) see Paly and Palo Alto and presume everyone is a millionaire in home equity at the least. Same as folks assume all Oakland is rugged. Glad it worked out
And Mrs Lin still claimed that wasn’t a present but an investment just avoid the guilt trip influence to Jeremy which is the kindest action from a mother.
Mom deserves at least 10milly, that should last the parents until the end of their lives. Jeremy has made over 50mil so hes straight, good gamble on the mom. Not many asian parents would support their son in sports especially pro sports where its mostly black dominated and he also graduated from harvard and made the degree useless. Sheesh what a story for them, glad it worked out for jeremy and his fam
If only parents are as supportive as this, when I tell my parents what I wanna do first thing they say is how will that fail and should try something else
Paying for HARVARD private school no breaks from anyone not even after Linsanity not marketable like Yao or Yi or all the European players... man Lin had heart of a champion.
When your mom believes in you. That's when you are truly unstoppable

Typical Asian mom behavior
Loved watching this guy play because he was all about effort, hustle, and trying to make it happen. Lots of fun
Best mama ever!! Yay mama Lin!!
The most amazing thing about JLin isn’t even how good he is at basketball, but the wisdom he possesses even when he was still so young.
God bless.

Yup, it’s the parents, it’s the upbringing, it’s the culture. No blaming, no complaining, just keep moving forward.
