If they ever make a new technical DLC where they introduce a bridge/bridging system, and somehow islands that are near within a certain distance between them can build big bridges or something relating to infrastructure that could connect them, you will *definitely* have to revisit this concept in that situation.

I think having straight crossings might make it more and less bearable. You don’t need to naval invade every time but also frontlines don’t fully work on straight crossings, so you gotta micro every tile lmao
I played a mostly peaceful Germany with historical ai and uk randomly started invading nations like Netherlands than Belgium and I do the rest, eventually I picked to ally Soviets,we still lost even tho usa also fought uk but they took Canada then wped
