TIP. To avoid making mess when removing oil filter I always punch a hole in the bottom of the oil filter with a screwdriver and wait until it stops leaking.
The filter is easier to remove if you remove the triangular shield partially covering the filter. It only needs three flat-head screws turned 90 degrees and it drops off. You're reaching around the plate at 3:47.
Did you torque the oil plug to 30foot pounds with torque wrench? How about using a fumoto drain valve any experience with those by chance. I'm thinking of installing one on my hybrid.
Also forgot to ask what are your oil change intervals in miles? 3k, 5k, 10k? I'm old at heart and I like to replace at 3k, but this is my first hybrid. I don't feel comfortable changing at 10k
Hi, I usually do not torque the drain bolt other than hand tight because if any oil gets on the bolt threads, it alters the torque and you may end up over-doing it and stripping threads. Good and tight works for me. Most oils especially synthetic nowadays can last 5k easily, and I would even do 10k if it looked fine when checking.
Our car did not have anything covering it. We have the Hybrid version so not sure if there is a difference on other trims. If you are talking about the same steel plate my friend's civic had, that thing is a pain to get off.
Seriously, who the hell is going to all this themselves, when it barely cost anything for a shop to do it. Maybe if you are a mechanic, and had a lift, but to jack it all up would take hours of labors.

Great video. How’s the mileage and reliability on that hybrid now? Thinking about picking one up second hand.

@@fastlx13 hybrid oil changes differ due to driving habits EV vs Gas time in service but 7k is a good guesstimate.
did you have to remove the steel plate cover under the oil filter and oil bolt

I have the hybrid also
I hate the way the oil filter comes out.
If you can't get your car up on ramps you probably shouldn't be changing the oil, lol.
that is a fair statement lol
Yup
novice question, jacks and properly placed jack stands are not good,or still acceptable?

anyone with half a brain and some will power can change oil
I like doing it because I know its done right. Not all mechanics put the same effort you would
