Very excited to rewatch this at some point in the future when I'm actually establishing a platform and have a book close enough to release to do these things (But seriously good, helpful video as always)
Great video, Hannah! As soon as you said "The Bachelorette", my mind went "The Selection by Kiera Cass" and I had flashbacks to 2014 BookTube videos (I think "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart was that era too). I like how I can recognise how you used some of these social media ideas for your own books, but your posts always felt really natural and well-judged so they never became repetitive hype background noise
I've written four books in the last two years and have been struggling with social media. I'm glad I found this video! Now that I've learned new ways to market my adult fantasy book Save Our King I'm a lot more confident in myself. Thank you!
I saw many videos today in order to find something that would help me to improve the marketing of my book and I think this is definitely the best. I love that a young girl as me could help more than an analytic!🤩❤️ Thank you very much for the ideas!😇
Thank you Hannah, excellent video full of actual advice and inspiration. Much appreciated. Congratulations on winning the Albert Davis Fiction Award and being a finalist in the David Middleton Poetry Award... Impressive 🙂 Warm regards from Ireland 💚💚💚
Tks for your insight. Not only Instagram, but RUclips as well is growing for authors. Authors need their own mailing list - that is the difference in successful and striving authors. With that mailing list, you can manipulate your Amazon ranking.
Thank you. I have an Instagram for life as a digital nomad (with all the cool old castles that inspire my epic fantasy). Lots of great ideas here to add to my book posts here. Thank you for that.
You mentioning trends in the market had me wondering if you've done a video on that kind of thing or if you'd be open to do a video on how/where to research trends in the market(s)
I’ve used a few of these, they aren’t doing much ( then again I’m just starting out so ) but they are doing something! I’ve gotten more reads than I did when I was writing a year or so ago under a different pen name / account. I’m not sure if this will work for an interview book I have planned however, as it’s nonfiction.
That’s what a BA/ MFA is good for, know what else it’s good for? Writing a good book. I am confused, I don’t know where I am. I got lost and stumbled into post covid year 2.
You'll have to use platforms with less restrictions/censor the images. Other than that, kind of the same way you promote anything. I have a few NSFW artist friends, and they make most of their money through personal commissions, so make sure you have a website and POS!
I dispute almost ALL of this. I follow dozens upon dozens of authors. I'll immediately ignore any post that's promoting work. Social media is more about getting to know the person behind the work. It might be para-social, but people like a sense of the mind and the real person who created something they loved. The only posts that work are updates on how a work is progressing and where it stands, not cynical promotions. Often when people feel engaged they are dramatically more likely to investigate your work without you ever needing to push.
@@HannahLeeKidder On reflection I should probably qualify my point slightly. For those of us who are 'unknown,' or have small platforms of a thousand or less followers, I feel it doesn't make a lot of sense to market at them. It's not really a viable number to effectively promote to, and likely as not it could be seen as annoying. Probably it makes a great deal of sense for someone with a large platform as you must have, I'm simply not convinced it benefits those who don't. As for promotion, I have found writing communities who will sometimes put the word out if people there like what they read, and you can get a lot of useful feedback too.
Because niche video topics aren't going to apply to every viewer, and it's okay to realize it's not for you and go about your day without trying to contest things that aren't relevant for you, u feel me?

I always describe The Saviors Champion by Jenna Moreci as The Bachelor meets Gladiators.
Love the ideas on this video, I have written a fantasy series, and the first novel will be released in a few months.

When you finish a draft, it is OVER for us bitches
@@HannahLeeKidder After all this build up I hope so, that'd be SUPER embarrassing otherwise
Just graduated as an English Major. Thank you so much for the tips and help, I love this channel I’m glad I found it ! 😭
I find that my behind-the-scenes posts do a lot better than any of the other forms you mentioned.

Thanks! I'm glad my promos come off as chill haha. It always feels like I'm being /so/ annoying.

I hope to be an author soon and im always wondering what to post and how to brand myself
Ohhh good luck! Your brand will develop and evolve, so don't worry too much about nailing anything down in the beginning 💜💜

Halo, terimakasih banyak!
Ngl I’m exited to read the worst possible reviews imaginable for my book
The we needed.
That’s what a BA/ MFA is good for, know what else it’s good for? Writing a good book. I am confused, I don’t know where I am. I got lost and stumbled into post covid year 2.
i got a question for an author. WHY doesn't Saya have a job? she oughta be paying her way, doncha think?
I was surprised Saya was still unemployed
I can't even get her to apply anywhere
Hi. I’m currently writing my 1st book.. Do you personally write different books under different “pen names” ? If so what’s the reason?
I do! Because it makes more sense to me to market very different genres on separate platforms.
hope it works, thanks.
*helpful*
I have TWELVE books but zero sales and NO AUDIENCE to post to. It sucks being a writer.
Or ask a friend to find good review quotes for you ❤
You write under pen names?? Can you talk more about that?
I'm working on a pretty long video about it! No idea when it'll be done haha
Do you notice that Instagram punishes commentors for no good reason,
How do market or promote NSFW artwork?
You'll have to use platforms with less restrictions/censor the images. Other than that, kind of the same way you promote anything. I have a few NSFW artist friends, and they make most of their money through personal commissions, so make sure you have a website and POS!

Ahhhh is that your old apartment
Reduce reuse recycle ♻️
You are beautiful!
Ayoooo
What is you background in the classics? Too many smoke&mirrors in your videos. 😉
Habitually forgetting to take a thumbnail pic lol
I tried to make an edit trailer for my book but nobody cares 💀
That's harsh :(
You have an amazing face 😍
Talking way to fast!

So this is like watching a video about training dogs and being like "I disagree! I have no dog!" type thing?
@@HannahLeeKidder How does that analogy apply?
Because niche video topics aren't going to apply to every viewer, and it's okay to realize it's not for you and go about your day without trying to contest things that aren't relevant for you, u feel me?
