- I can't believe it's already been 5 years since I moved to Maui! It's difficult to put into words how much I love this island, but this video is my attempt. So many great life lessons from living on an island, and one of the biggest lessons I learned was to SLOW DOWN. I hope you enjoy this video.

Big thank you from France ! Your videos are like a balm to me. When I was younger I was in Paris where everything goes so fast. I needed more calm and I wanted to live slower but people around me thought I was just a dreamer. All my life I felt like I was alone with my "way of thinking" if it makes sense. I can relate to your story. Korean culture (my roots) is centered around achieving more and competing to be the best, but this never resonated with me. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m packing my house (mainland) as I listen to this and putting it all in storage. I rented a condo near Lahaina for 6 months and will be there this Saturday. I’m excited, scared and not sure what to expect!

I've been trying to slow down for about ten years now, but still get caught up in the urban, fast paced lifestyle. I guess you could say I am making progress, but "slowly" !! Here are 6 areas I am now trying to focus on:
1. Pray slowly. When I do my daily prayers, I want to do them with focus, presence and intention. I want to build a deeper connection with Allah (God)
2. Eat slowly. What's the point of having a lovely meal in front of you, and then rushing through it without savouring it ?
3. Walk slowly.
4. Talk slowly.
5. Read slowly. This is an area I really want to develop. Better to read one book slowly with understanding and attention, than to get through multiple books without really reading them at all.
6. Drive slowly.
I am inspired by your list! Those activities are areas that I definitely need to focus on, slow down and be more intentional about. I think as long as we can remind ourselves to slow down, we will always find a way back to the present moment. Thank you for your awesome comment!

Thank you Sophie, for always making me feel that it's okay to slow down. I used to be a consumerist, to the point that I was not able to save money. I feel guilty on the hours that I am not earning. I don't feel contented. But your videos really helped me learn a lot on minimilaist lifestyle and slow living, without forgetting to save and invest. I also learn to live in the present and be grateful of today.
My husband and I, are now planning to move to province. We are on our early 30s and planning to invest in land where we can put up our home. Away from the fast phase life in the city.

You’re right in that we need to slow down and appreciate who we are and what we have. Too many people play the rat race game and wind up chasing mirages. They find out they missed out on the important things that really matter.

Wow! Love your channel. We just started filming from our private island in the 1000 Islands NY. We too have a lot of challenges living full time during the summer months on our island. In the winter we have to shut the island down and winterize. We then head down to our other home in Florida which is on a barrier island. We are loving living the island life full time. I love the vibe of this video and feel the same on reflections of our purpose in life. We like you are forever thankful and grateful for our island life. Sweet and calm voice. Nice sea side view. Busy city life, competition in career , complexities even in families makes one stressed. Taking medicines for relieving stress is more worst. U seem lucky to change ur life but not everyone is that blessed. Overall nice video, keep it up.

I'm an optimist, but I believe that we can change our lives by making small changes in our lifestyles and our mindsets, no matter our physical environment and situation.

Where do you source your music for YT? Lately, I have been using royalty free sound cloud tracks, but since they are so limited, I was looking to branch out.
Yes! Ukulele at the end :) I use Epidemic Sound. It's $15 monthly and there have a good song selection. I heard Art List is good as well, but I haven't looked too much into it. Wow I'm excited to see some Florida footage. Have fun playing with the new camera this weekend (one of my fave things to do).

I feel you completely. I still remind myself every single time to slow down and just relax whenever I still myself rushing or stressing out. I think it helps to look for ways we can bring ourselves back to the moment. It's so much easier said than done, but I think one situation at a time. ❤❤❤ thanks for your comment
