This could be really good for free charging at home with solar and wind. During the day, one battery gets charged at home for free. Car is home at night to power the home. When car battery is depleted, swap over.
Actually dekat china dah ada konsep yang Naz cakap tu. Swap batery, boleh check dekat youtube NIO power ke ample ke. So actually perlukan company investment untuk bawak masuk.
This would be a big hassle compared to supercharging or at home charging. But it would great to be able to swap a battery pack to a new one like this, if the original one has a problem.
The process takes 3-5 minutes and you (driver) don’t do anything but pull up and drive off. This makes more sense than cramming power in batteries so quick you ruin battery’s capacity
So long as not a big queue it’s faster than supercharging, swap to a battery ready charged to 93% in 3 minutes. Just park the car in marked area outside the swap station and the car and swap station does the rest after pressing start button. Also able to swap to a higher capacity battery for short term rental (day, week, month) currently go from 75kWh to 100kWh, limited availability of the new 150kWh battery for road trips.
@@bluntfruntac9981I have a Nio with the 75kWh battery pack, I live in an apartment with a basement parking garage, I have a 7kWh charger installed in my parking bay so always home charge. However for road trips the option of doing a 3 minute battery swap and/or renting a higher capacity 100 or 150kWh battery pack is useful.
best part is you buy the cars. not the batteries..so the cars are cheaper, you always get a full battery in under 3 minutes. and when new battery tech comes out you immediatly benefit
As far as I know, the battery is not part of the car, you pay a membership and get so many free changes depending on your membership. Car has a warranty, battery not yours to worry about
@@jamiesumner8311 yes. I get that. but what happens to the warranty battery? it has to be kept in good condition - would the new car warranty (including the original battery) carry on with batteries (not supplied with the vehicle) being swapped in and out of it?
This might work for few dozen cars but won't work in real world. Where do you store thousands of battery, how do you charge the replaced battery, etc...
You live in a tiny world China which is much grand than most countries, is the real world and it works. So having that in tiny countries like in Europe or American would works
Costly for a start up car co. Car owners done want to rent battery. Bad business model, splitting sales between battery rent and outright purchase, making not enough buyers wanting to use battswap locations, but you still have to build them due to the handful of buyers who opted for swap. May be it works in china but not everywhere else. Battery swaps are not needed when there are plenty of chargers around
If renting battery means reducing cost of the car significantly, i would rent it. I love the option, same as either swap battery or charge it like any other EV
It works nowhere for passenger EVs. Tesla built a demo, big party, never deployed. Others tried too, Better Place, etc. Look at all the engineering and stupid. The only real takeaway is it highlights how big an unsolved problem charging at full scale is. Heavy trucking already a complete fail. The moment EV sales reach a point where people have to begin queuing to charge, w 40 mins a charge, the whole show will stall. All the finger pointing to come about ‘not enough infrastructure’ will be so much stupidity, like pointing at not enough superhighways to each garage.
Imagine though the future where your car is autonomously driving and the car notices it is low on electricity so it exits off the road to the nearest "gas station" to pull in for a quick swap. The swap takes 30 seconds and you are oblivious in your car. Back on the road you are happy knowing that your total battery weight is 100kg rather that 500-700 kg so your car drives lighter, costs less to operate, and gets better range. The responsibility for charging the battery is offloaded to the station and all the economies of scale apply. We just have to get there and a transitioning can have a little pain.
If they build more of these in America, then maybe (just maybe) I’ll think about buying an EV in the future.
5 years back technology. Please share of 2nd / 3rd Gen NIO swap station, okay?
the most appropriate background song for this beauty would have been: Smooth criminal. ( legendary and loved).

Just need an extra 20k for a spare gaha
And another 100k for the swap robot
I had known about those games in which players use the wives and husband swapping methods but
Battery swapping is new knowledge for me
😂
Wow awesome ❤

More than 2300 of these swap stations in China, now on Gen 4 which can swap a battery in 3 minutes. Car is the old model, newer ones are even nicer
Thats car very power ❤❤❤❤❤ I like this car 💜💜💜

Also a great alternative for those who live in apartments

How is the battery cooled? And how does it hit the connections?
This what ev need

Great👍👏
Formula one need this technology
What happen if locking mechanism that hold the battery failed? There are cases of battery dropped on the road while driving in China.
I think it’s pretty rare, the robot fits it, if it’s bolted on, I’d hope it would be able to make sure the tightened properly
Do you have proof of those cases?

New swap stations will be close to 3 minutes and won't look as awkward as the one in this video LOL
How long does battery last?

Nio Generation 1.0 Swap Station???? now, it‘s 3.0 Swap Station
Wow
Old technology
No need to elevate car now. Battery swap in just 3 minutes with latest generation of station
bro i thought of making it a bussiness and it's already happening
That means you've got some great ideas within bro
Why can’t the driver just drive in like a car wash? This will save 3-4 mins 😂
But will loss hours because of miss alignment 😂
Some of the Battery Swap stations allow drive in, located in areas where the space is available for that configuration
Waiting in line for this next...so stupid
Changing the battery takes less than 3 mins. Also there will be more battery swap stations... so, it's not stupid. You are.

you'll nothing and be happy
