I’ve been working on the “Whiter Shade Of Pale” progression and this pops up. Thanks for this post.
Fantastic video Jeff! Great explanation of the origin of the harmonic minor. That was an eye opener for me. Thanks heaps!
Thanks Matt!!
Thank you very much Sir,
I always play the toccata and fugue with tapping. Very nice that you showed me the thing correctly 🔔🔔🔔👍
Bach's influence...Jeff with a scalloped fretboard. You're fooling noone Mcerlain :)
I don’t know what you are talking about…
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day jeff also stay safe
Thank you! And you as well!
After watching this I've been on a harmonic minor binge, and way better equipped to do it thanks to this video, much appreciated Jeff!
Thanks David!!
Yeah!
Thanks Jeff love it.
Thanks Jeff!
Two of the guitar records that have been most influential in my playing: the Clapton-Mayall “Beano” album and John Williams’ recording of Bach’s lute suites for guitar.
A man of taste.
Brilliant! This is THE video. Well done!!!!!
🙌🏻🙌🏻😉
what a good video. Also just yesterday I was working on learning the harmonic minor so yay the algorithm works. Kind thanks
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I appreciate this kind of content!
Thank you! I appreciate you letting me know this!
Great stuff.
Interesting video! Matt Cameron may have tuned into some of these Bach ideas in Wellwater Conspiracy, esp. the song Compellor, with its nice heavy Dm - A7 jam.
I could watch this type of instruction all day Jeff, outstanding! When you outlined the "voice leading and common tones" in the Dm - Em7b5/D ---->A7/C# - Dm" I was truly amaized. Or as T'Pol would say "Fascinating!" 🖖 Great work!
Ha! Thanks Sam!
Thank you for this video. I would ,like you, never call myself a classical guitarist but still find time to go over some peices particularly Bach. Your video proves that it is well worth the effort for guitarists steeped in other genres to follow your example and take a deep dive into music of centuries other than the 20th and 21st.
Thank you. One of the many amazing things about music is that we can dabble in all of it. It also makes us much fuller humans!
Fantastic video Jeff ! More theory lessons please !!
Thanks! Will do!
I meant harmonic minor.
Used to listen to Beethoven quite a bit . Didn't want to play it . I think it helped me learn guitar just listening .
Another harmonic song is "Paint it Black" by the Stones. Pretty early example of using it in rock.
Yup!
What a beautiful lesson! But you did it wasn’t catching fire with the algorithms. Perhaps it should have been called, “The Sultan of Rhodes Scale”…. As ever, you lead me down this sonic path with glee.
Thanks man! Yeah it’s an interesting place YT. This isn’t blues!!! 😂 As always I appreciate you being along for the ride!
You should check out my good friend’s channel Basics for Baroque Improvisation. He’s got a ton of amazing content for guitar.
Smooth by Santana of course.
Yes sir!
Did this get pulled and reposted? I was looking for it. What happened? Bach’s estate claimed copyright? 😅
Ha! I just changed a few little things. Nothing major!
@@JeffMcErlain "Nothing major except that borrowed chord" surely!
Don't go mentioning Paganini while holding that guitar my good sir. We all know where this is going
🤫
