Thank you! Dug mine out, also have 200mm lens, hoping to get pictures with proper Solar filter I cut to fit under the 52mm lens cover, for the Solar Eclipse April 8th 2024 !
@@TeddyJuras i’m going to check you out now! i really think a prime lens will help me more. this is my first slr and i’m having a hard time telling if i’m confusing correctly. sometimes the split prism ,the top half of the circle is turning black 🫣 i don’t know why or if i’m focusing the way i want on a zoom lens.
I just bought my first film camera (minolta x 700) its coming with a 50mm f2. You think that lens is cool or should i go for a 50mm 1.4 or 28 either 1.9 or 2.8 ? Love taking landscapes and portraits shots
50mm is great for portraits but probably want something wider for landscapes. I know the f2 is a nice lens. 28mm is a great idea for landscapes. 2.8 is probably fine. I don’t have a ton of experience with these particular lenses so not sure if sharpness differs etc… maybe someone in the community will have more input on that?
I recently just purchased this. Didn’t do enough research tho but I have no batteries in it at the moment is that why the film advance won’t move? I was use to the srt 101 being all mechanical
Thanks! I just mean I've had the same batteries in for 3 years and i can't find a way to tell if they're running low, but the advance so far always works so I guess it's all good
Ah gotcha! Wow that’s a long time! Yes you’ll know when they go by the film advance and sounds like you should always have spare on you for when they do! 👍
I found this camera in parent’s house and it looks brand new. I’ve put new batteries in and there is film loaded, but I can not get the film to advance. On the top the red arrow is on S. Not sure what to do, so any advice would be great. Thank you.
There is an on off switch, which I think I glossed over in the video… did you turn it on? If it’s on and still not firing or advancing try wiping down battery area with white vinegar. Beyond that… sadly it’s a broken camera. Let me know if you get it working!
@@TeddyJuras I have turned it on with sound and covered the lens before trying to snap. I did hear a faint beep for low light, but only once. I reloaded the film and tried another set of batteries too. I’ll wipe it down and see what happens! Thank you.
If you are getting a beep and no advance or click then that’s not a good sign. I’m afraid cleaning contacts isn’t going to help. Sounds like camera is jammed. 👎
I would guess yes. Sometimes the film counter goes bad. I would run a dummy roll of film through it. Mark a spot on the film with a sharpie and see if it advances and then rewinds. 👍
This is tough. I’ve had this happen on a Pentax k1000 but never one of these. Could be battery corrosion but again I’ve not come across one with corrosion before. Try to apply some white vinegar around the outside of battery door in hopes in drips in. You may need to remove bottom plate and hit it with white vinegar from the inside if step one doesn’t work. Let me know if either of these work. 👍
this is SO helpful thank you. Figuring out how to use my friend’s X-700 😄🙌
Excellent! Thanks for the feedback! Glad I could help out. Will it be your first time shooting film?

Yes def needs batteries before it will move. 👍
@@TeddyJuras thank you. I should’ve did more research
The battery in mine is a single 2L76.
Yes I’ve come across those. Essentially the two lr44 batteries combined. 👍
Once the batteries in the camera run out will the film advance block again? I'm just not so knowledgeable on how long these batteries last
Yes this camera needs batteries to advance film. Shouldn’t affect film if you need to replace batteries with film inside. 👍

@@TeddyJuras I think you’re right. Such a bummer! I was really excited to play around with it. Thanks again for your help.
Sorry to hear! 👎
When I advance the film on my Minolta x -700 . The red arrow stays above (S) and does not move to (1) . Can I still shoot with it like that ?
I would guess yes. Sometimes the film counter goes bad. I would run a dummy roll of film through it. Mark a spot on the film with a sharpie and see if it advances and then rewinds. 👍
My battery compartment doesn’t open it’s stuck.
What can I do?

@@TeddyJuras I just tried.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work.
:((
Did you take bottom plate off? Does camera work?
@@TeddyJuras I couldn’t do that.
What type of film should I buy for this camera!?
I recommend Kodak gold 200 for a good starter film. 👍
Anybody know where to get a new battery?
Hey! You will need two of these here bit.ly/LR44Batteries 👍
