Yes.It is as your guess. Handmade plastic washers.They may not be needed. Anyway, it is a development stage.You might discover something new.Thank you.
Very good idea ! It'll help to eliminate the main problem of the cine-cameras held by hand i.e. instability. And it is not very difficult to make by the average DIY-man.Thanks.
Ok, so I bought a ball transfer bearing like this one, but with a stiff nylon ball, which should work great. I am wondering, with your specific unit, did you add the plastic washers on the inside, or was that already in there when you bought it? My bearing just came full of tiny 1/8" bearings. probably 25 or so, maybe more. If you added the washers, what are the specs for those washers?
Thank you for your fast reply. Yet another question.... Is there any important reason for opening the Transfer Ball and reduce the number of spheres inside or you belive I can avoid to open it. I'm asking because I already destory one piece because it seems not possible to reclose it without deform the housing
How did you solder the screw to the ball? I'm trying to figure out how to do it, and even perforation it's seems not possible due the fact that the ball is in tempered steel. Any suggestion?
Tim, this is a great articulation! Are you manufacturing it? If not, perhaps you should! Is it possible to acquire the parts? Thanks very much for your inventiveness! Bravo!
Hi Tim. You could spend a parts list that you used? I'm from Brazil and here is very expensive to buy a steadicam. So this would be the best solution to a steadicam. Thank you.
Can you please provide a part list in English? For the English viewers. These things are called "ball transfer unit". If you do a google search, you can find a few places that source these.
Hi! this is really great!!! Unfortunately I can't make my own because I can't find anywhere a ball transfer bearing. Could you please tell me where to purchase this item or a similar one anyway?
@NSUHBCU The gimbal he used here is a ball transfer unit, ball rollers to move heavy objects. He either had the hole drilled with a machine and threaded it or bought a replacement grip-ball with the hole already drilled and threaded to screw in a bolt. I also made a gimbal with a ball transfer and it works much better than a universal joint, which I also made before.
Hi, I'm Pablo. I'm trying to DIY a steadycam ,and I Already make 3 steadycam,they can be use but theres no one is perfect as yours so , I hope um... I want to ask you , that can you teach me how to made a perfect as yours. Please ,I'm dispirited so sad , anyway thank you verymuch.
wow, great answer, thanks xD I contacted many ebay sellers to know if those Transfer Bearing were easy to open, they all answered me that this was just impossible. I'm still searching for the right Transfer Bearing.

Yeah, I thought about it but the internal gasket is made of plastic and it may melt causing some problems with the fluid sphere movements.

Hi,
Could you maybe post a part list, about witch parts you used?
That would be extremely usefully for building one on my own.
Thank you
where do you you find all the pieces or do you know something which look like and is all assembled ??
Can you please provide a part list in English?

Hi! this is really great!!!

Where can I buy all the components? Is there a online store?
why do you need to open it?
can you make the solder with the ball inside the bearing?

I didn't thought in that detail..
If you find one easy to open please post it here!
Can you get all those items at makeman?
Where can I get one from fella?
Please! Where i can find this item? I so need it!
google for "C-8Y"
What is the size of these balls?

very nice thanks!
@BMacW650
Yes, You Can !
thank you very much
Please try to search on "ball transfer".Try at your own risk.
Good job
very good.
wow, great answer, thanks xD

Thanks for this video.... But would you mind to write in english. At least this could be useful even for the rest of the planet. TY
High-precision TIG welding by RUclipsr's TeethOfTheEarth.
