  • Looking to build a couple of EASY nightstands?
    This video goes step by step on how to build these beautiful wood nightstands - do you call them nightstands or bedside tables? Either way!
    These were ultimately stained with dark walnut to match the LED Headboard I made.
    The dimensions of these tables are:
    Legs: 24"
    Top: 18"
    Shelf: 15"
    The legs and top are made from 2x8 pieces of wood and I ripped 1/4" - 1/2" off of 1 side of every piece.
    The shelf is made from 2x6 - only because I ran out of 2x8 wood.
    If you're wondering why I added a wooden dowel to the legs, it's because that part of the legs would be easily exposed and visible and I didn't want that. Kreg holes aren't that ugly so I could have gotten by just doing that the whole way down the legs.
    Good luck on building your nightstands!

    Would HIGHLY recommend to use a brush or finger to spread the glue more evenly. You would be amazed by the difference in strength this slight change in application makes! Overall nice build though!

      Great tip. I see others using a brush and going full coverage - I should start implementing that

    Great vid! I laugh every time I see downvotes on these types of videos. Like who got mad and downvoted that video and who hurt them to make them that way?

    I've read that you shouldn't use wood glue on stained wood. It would make it easier for some of my projects if I could stain first. Have you had any issues with the glue not holding well?

    How long did this take you?

    If you ripped 1/2" off the top, did you rip the legs down as well? Maybe you mentioned this, but if not thats a pretty important step to mention if you want the top to be same depth as the legs lol

    • @KellyConcepts
      @KellyConcepts  3 года назад +1

      ah, yes! if I didn't mention it, all of the pieces were ripped except for the lower shelf made from 2x6s. Good point, I've added it to my description

    I don't have a Kreg, what do I do? Dowels?

    • @KellyConcepts
      @KellyConcepts  3 года назад

      Dowels will work and then you can put screws on the outside of the legs into the shelves. They'll be visible but it'll work

    Looks great, I’d like to see you fill those pocket holes with stain or something. The off color kinda stuck out with the finished shots.
