Since the iOS 14 update, Facebook Ads' lookalike audiences have changed.
It's true: lookalike audiences aren't as good as they used to be.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be using Facebook lookalike audiences...

Thank you for the detailed video! How many custom/lookalike audience groups would you recommend selecting per ad group?
Test it out. You can stack multiple as a test & also test individual to see what works.

awesome video Blake. When creating the Ad set, do we still need to fill out the sections for Age range and languages - assuming we're targeting a certain age and language group or just leave as is?

Great explanation Blake, and appreciate the speed of your delivery. First video in a long time I didn't need to scrub through constantly. Quick question - using a lookalike audience based off a custom audience, is there a way to target a local area, such as a suburb or city, rather than an entire country? For a local service based business that doesn't sell products online. Many thanks.
Glad it was helpful! Unfortunately no you can only select country since there are data restrictions in that country to make sure the audience matches.
You would just create the LLA in the country & new target the city at the ad set level if you wanted to do that. Although Geographic targeting I wouldn't try to limit yourself too much since local areas will already have small audiences.

Depends on the client but always using the best data furthest in the funnel: purchases 1-10%

No problem!
1. Yes they will work as long as you have data to build custom audiences (lists, followers, etc)
2. I wouldn't worry about higher budgets. It's something you can test like any other audience
3. I'd start right away with your goal objective - if that's leads then start there yes. Although I'd recommend having a funnel in place for best results.

No it's not enough data, you need a minimum of 100 data points.
I would start with interests in that case or LLA's based on another event.

Great video, thank you! Quick Question, at 3:35 it says about "Highest Value Passed: $297.00" and "Lowest Value Passed: $4.02", what does this mean? I get similar numbers but they range from $0.01 to $21.99
Those are for the "Value" categories which is related to the amount of money customers have spent.

Hello, thank you so much for the video! I have an issue so after I imported my custom list with 1.3k users, it mentioned 500k reach when I created the LAA but when I launched the adset, it showed that the audience size was smaller than 1k, and when I launched it, didn't spend at all, which I found confusing as my list had a decent number I think... any thoughts on this, please?
Yeah I'm not exactly sure why, but I've experienced this issue as well. It could be due to your location targeting / age / gender. However, I've also experienced this where I got that error & the ad still spent & ran fine so I think it's just a glitch. You can always try opening up your LLA to 5% or 10% more a broader audience, which I'd recommend.

I upload lists from 3rd party software all the time - they are technically liable as it's not a public lists. So if you gather a list form something like Apollo.io then just upload it and let it rip.

Question, when you create the look alike audience it only lets you select the entire country. How do we make sure we only target people in our "service area"? When you are creating the adset?
If you have enough data to make a LLA with a country, then you simply use that audience but target your service region at the ad sets level.
hey blake, are lookalike audiences still useful to use after the addition of Advantage Audience +? An example i can give is an LLA from a high-value customer list... what do you think?
I would use LLA audience stacks & test that in 1 ad set vs. broad vs. interests stacks. That's what we're seeing working the best is stacking multiple audience segments in 1 ad set & letting Facebook optimize using that data.

Would it be better to import purchasers info manually via csv? My pixel has about 250 purchases last 60 days, but I have over double that from my shopify page
No I would just continue off of pixel data coming in from your campaigns.

Hi Blake! I'm not sure if I understood correctly... If my audience who purchased is from X country, can I use them as lookalikes for targeting another Y country and it will target similar people in the Y country?
Unfortunately no you can only make lookalikes from at least 100 people in the same country. You can try to upload your list & create a lookalike for the country to see if it'll work l

Is it the right strategy.
I wouldn't start there no, start with a single broad interest & refine your ad so that it speaks directly to your target customer. Facebook will do the rest. If you're spending a lot more & have a lot of data you can get fancy with LLA's. I'll have a new video dropping soon on ideal audience targeting, stay tuned.
@@TheBlakeBauer But, few of the experts say that inorder to increase the audience size it's better to create LAL audience to get the cold audience.
i went to create a look alike audiance from my recent traffic ad and its saying i dont have enough data even though i spend a $140 and i have 700 clicks from it. what do i do?
You typically need 100 data points in the same country to create an LLA so make sure it's the same country & try to get a bit more traffic to your website

No boosting doesn't have that feature it just uses facebooks AI

Yeah you just use a LLA for the targeting but make the campaign objective "Leads".
I mean, if I used the $100 per day budget for my original campaign that got me sales and purchases, what should be my budget for lookalike audience?
I'd test some new ad sets in the original campaign that's working with some LLA.

for lookalike audiences?
You can test a new campaign, however, I'd recommend for audience testing to just add additional ad sets into the same campaign you already have setup with the top ads.

Do you need 1000 emails from 1000 customers who bought from you to do this?
It's ideal but you can also use cold lead lists you buy.
