Sorry, I have one of them. Brand new, 1600 km I have driven. Everything depends of your driving style. I succeeded to get 110/66 miles km range with smart use of battery. At the same time I have 5,4 l/100 km consumption for gas. My driving style is - “nobody in front of me” and you can make it easyly. The engine is the best ever made by BMW. Before that I had X6 40d with bigger torque but now …this is unbelievable performance. If you use “ecopro hybrid” in town driving it gives more km range then computer shows and again you are first on traffic lights. When you start to charge, computer calculates you achievements during the time after last charge and gives you prediction how much km you can drive after charging. AI on the way to replace you, but regardless that you have all possible extras, you can switch them off and imagine that you are in F1 bolide. Enjoy it!
I'm sure you've been following the newer BMWs or these refreshed models so yeah they're gone. I too lament their loss, though I just got an i4 M50 that has the new curved screen which I like in its own right but still have a 2016 328ix so still enjoying buttons occasionally.
Hopefully the large Idrive button will not be removed in the future, as with a smaller type !! As a long-time BMW driver, more than 20 Years, this would be an even bigger disaster !
Depends how you see a full review. We went over all the changes on the car. We just didn't drive it. We would have then said: Full review and driving experience

As an owner of ‘a 21 X5 45e, my only gripe is the electric range of 30-32 miles and the slow charging of 6 hours with a 220 volt. That said, I’m getting combined mpg of 55 plus! That’s a Toyota Prius mpg range. My interior is nice with the physical buttons and the shift knob. Great for Vegas trips and mobbing around SoCal. I’m not sold on the ‘24 X5 with the 40 mile electric range, the curve curved display with the touch buttons.

For me my '22 X5 45e UK spec hits the sweet spot (we get 45 - 50 miles electric range and ive got touch screen + physical buttons) , agree with you, im really not a fan of total touch screen (especially due to new UK laws which make touching phones illegal - how does this apply to touch screen in car?)

Its about time BMW starts using roof air vents for the second row seats and third row seats (if equipped) in their SUVs. Roof air vents are most effective.
5:35 -- Yes -- I feel the same. Lack of buttons is a real let down. Probably won't buy another BMW until they reverse some of the stupidity with iDrive 8. And NO -- you can't use voice commands in the same amount of time. That's a lame excuse on their part.
True, the physical controls will always be faster. But the question might be this: does it matter if the voice command adjusts the AC in 3-4 seconds vs the 1 second by doing it manually?

Speaking from experience here as a largely buttonless i4 owner for the past 7 months. I don't get the exaggerated grief about the lack of buttons. Really. How often do you need to modify the temperature? I have mine set at 21 celsius during winter and I don't touch it until April. When you do, its not like you need to change it by a factor of many degrees. The temperature controls are staring you in the face in the screen and you can change the temperature by a couple of degrees in a second with your stumpy index finger.
@@johnstelling1836 -- If it were JUST climate control buttons missing, that would be one thing. Lots of cars have had the climate control on-screen for a long time. In addition to climate control buttons gone, the 8 shortcut buttons are gone as well. I use the crap out of these. Even heated seats and ventilated seats are now have to be turned on / off in software. No one can dispute that having to navigate a software menu to do simple tasks is safer than a switch you can locate and turn on, without looking, by memory. The fact the common sense has been lost around this is totally mind boggling. Kool Aid drinkers will say use voice commands. But the voice commands are slow and half baked, at best. You can easily press a button and have your attention back on the road before the voice command system is even ready to take your command

I have however managed to use them successfuly to set the set heating on at the desired level. That's something that definitely works OK. What I still don't understand is why a million reviewers always seem to harp on about the non-physical temperature controls. To me, this one specifically is a non-issue. What's more likely to result in unsafe practices is people messing around with Android Auto/Apple Carplay or with the satnav system to filter on charging station criteria etc., but what can manufacturers really do about this? They can't provide a multi-function stalk or bank of buttons to control every feature built into vehicles these days. You'd have to also take your eyes off the road momentarily to locate them. For functions you really have to be able to control manually on a regular basis, like cruise control or windscreen wiper speed, then I agree that it's dumb to insert them into a screen or rely on voice controls. Only Tesla seems to do stuff like that.
Informative video. I live in the UK, and own a X5 45e and i am just about to take delivery of X5 50e. I regulary have 42/48 miles of electic only range from a full charge. I dont know if the specification is different in the USA as to the UK so i am confused that your saying your expecting only a 40 miles range on the new car even though the battery copasity has been increased
The car looks great in real life! I was about to say the M Sport package is a must, but if no other choice, it's a clean look at the front. The Blue Ridge looks good on the X7 too, it kinda fits the character of a big car

Ordered a custom 23 X5 and drove 3 weeks and dealership has had for over 2 months due to safety issues/driver assist malfunctioning in traffic and car locking up while driving. Anyone have suggestions of how you would handle? Getting very little communication. TIA
The potential of this powertrain is kinda nuts, the engine will likely be able to be tuned to 600hp with just a downpipe plus the 200hp from the electric motors and you’re looking at similar if not more power than the XM…
@@bmwblog they are out there! I have a 440i and frequent the F30 subreddit, there’s a handful of tuned 330e there! I don’t know how tuning might affect the hybrid system in the long run but with phev becoming more prevalent especially on sports cars hopefully any kinks can be sorted out! I could see myself buying one in 3-5 years
@@bmwblog ok makes sense. Trying to spec a 50e with an ivory Alcantara headliner but that forces you to take the hideous dark grey/ivory two-tone seats if you want to avoid the brown seats.
On a EV vehicle you are supposed to charge only 80% In winter you get only 70%of indicated range. If you extrapolate you can expect to get only 30 miles range at best Please comment
This car is AWESOME and incredibly quick with the electric motor. However, the additional cost of the hybrid technology will not be realized dollar for dollar for 10 years. Similar to the flat purchase of solar panels on the roof of your home. You won't break even for over 10 years.

If it still feels similar to 45e in pure electric mode, 50e is practically a downgrade. PS: It's just amazes me that car companies compare physical buttons to voice command, I mean they just should think about that until they realize how stupid this statement is.
GLE 450E is better in that regard a 4 cylinder engine (considering anyone buying this car will be gas conscious), 48 miles (58 miles when fully charged), availability of DC fast charging

I honestly not sure what other "bloggers" or RUclipsrs have. I filmed our own thing and focused on that. This was THE FIRST TIME anyone has seen the car in real life in the United States. So there was and is a lot of interest around the car. The goal is to offer a REVIEW which in this case, it's a design, specs and tech review. We're getting into semantics, but when we drive a car, we usually say FIRST DRIVE, We drove this, First Drive Review etc...I can promise you that we don't do clickbait titles and content, and that's probably also one of the reasons why we don't have the same large following on RUclips as we have on the website or compared to other RUclipsrs. Again, I heard you, and I would have no problem changing it if I thought it was factually incorrect. Yet, to make it all good, I promise we will have a full first drive review very soon.

They ruined the interior by deleting the HVAC buttons. Yes, you can use voice commands, but the button is much faster. Think driving by the waste water treatment plant. “Hey BMW recirculate” is slower than finger to button in MY 2023 and older.
Major mistake on this dash design, beyond uninspired and not user friendly. It's a shame because I was looking forward to the extended electric range but BMW just continues with the missteps. Oh and that gear shift, WTF?

Totally agree, they have also removed from the steering wheel the distance adjustment buttons and transferred this to the screen.

Apparently there wasn't a huge demand for it. The X5 is the family car, the X6 is the sporty car. Let's see if the new generation changes that
