Knowing what to eat almost takes a college degree these days. Animals in the wild know exactly what's beneficial for them. I think of ALL the misinformation and half-truths I've fallen under. My saving grace has been that I never smoked, drank wine slightly on special occasions and never did drugs...and my body thanks me for that! That said, I consumed foods that I was told were healthy...oils, especially olive oil, dairy, meat, etc...I've gone vegan (wfpb) but even some of that has been tricky. Always hoping you are making healthy choices. Thank God for RUclips (not the crazy cat ones but the truth about healthy eating):)
So helpful and wish we saw more of Jeff. I appreciate his easy and amazing recommendations.. less shopping and during Covid this is wonderful. I can’t do the typical vegan fare most of the time because I live so far from stores that carry organic fresh vegetables and the waste and lack of REAL freshness is difficult. Thanks Jeff.. you’re the best
THIS is the first video I saw of Jeff's, several years ago. Am reviewing his videos today. This video was so eye opening for me. Whole food plant based can be simple!! With the health issues I had when I started, I was ready to give up if I had to stand up and wash, peel and chop a lot of veggies for each meal. I wasn't physically able to do it. This is life saving info!

dont miss the point; he is showing fast food packaged food. I am sure he is aware that whole foods are the best choice but this is good and second best choice for people who are transitioning or have disabilities or too busy for preparation.
tiredrummertube he does but his point he likes to make is that heathy eating can be fast and easy. he developed his recipes while going to nutritional school and being a single father to a young daughter. so he developed 10 minute or less healthy recipes to quickly get a good dinner on the table and go do his internships and school. I hear an excuse all the time that the reason people dont want to eat healthy is they dont have time or the money for healthy ingredients. on his shopping ideas i mostly cook dinners and lunches after i get out of work at 330am but i constantly have healthy food and last nights restocking for the rest of my week was under $28
Found you via Dr. Esselstyn. Frozen vegetables (not collard greens) are great and soup. Great way to save money is to buy store brands vs name brand. Thumbs up.
Not sure if the comments are still being read, but want to thank you for this video. Vegan mum of a 1 year old and cannot always cook from scratch, so this video is very useful. Also, the thing about berries is so true! Now I buy berries 2-3 times a week in small quantities so they get used up fast, but your suggestion to buy them frozen is excellent.
Awesome! This is how my husband & I shop in the non-perishable section. That was quite the deal for Eden OG canned beans! Thank you for creating & sharing such helpful content. I feel supported & encouraged when I watch your channel.
His grocery store looks like it's warehouse sized. Where I live the only stores this size are Costco. My local grocery stores are tiny compared to this. :) NIce work, Novick, keep spreading the WFPB message!
Thanks for sharing! Pomì is written with an accent on the 'i'. The stress is on the 'i'. Brown rice can be soaked overnight. Then drain the water and add fresh water. It is ready in 20 min. in the pressure cooker. Beans cook very quickly if soaked overnight as well.
At my local grocery store they sell hashbrowns with no added salt or oil (just pre-steamed shredded potatoes) that you can just throw on the pan for a few minutes. I think that counts as fast food.:)
It looks like he walked the cart right past the mustards. I use the Westbrae natural whole grain SALT FREE mustard, it's the only salt-free mustard I've ever seen in any grocery store in my area. It's sodium free so it fits his guidelines.
This is really an excellent video..Thank you.. I really do like all these foods you are using..Especially the canned beans. So easy! Also, I like the oatmeal and frozen fruit for sweetener or a fresh apple chopped up in oatmeal..Won't even miss the butter in oatmeal with apple and a lil sprinkle of cinnamon.. Yummy! Fresh lemon juice is great to use in salads also..
For your beans try a pressure cooker. You can pressure cook beans after over night soaking or with out. I cook pasta, wheat berries, quinoa, rice (brown or white) in my pressure cooker. I have 3 electric pressure cookers plus a rice cooker. Life's easy with pressure.
Many have problems with "raw" diets and jeff discusses this in many threads on mcdougall's forum. All the longest-lived populations ever studied got the majority of their calories from COOKED starches (potatoes, rice, corn, quinoa, squash, wheat, etc).
Only if you have a problem with it. There are many other whole grain pasta's that don't use wheat. There's brown rice pasta, corn pasta, quinoa pasta, etc.
Love the video, but that "boom boom boom" was almost too much! Thanks for turning off and focusing on the material.... (yea I know, I am old and grumpy...what ever...) !!!
Potatoes contain every nutrient that the human body requires with the exception of b12, which can only be found in meat. Vegetables are higher on the chart because they contain higher quantities of nutrients, but those who follow mcdougall and Jeff Novick are looking for the correct balance for the human body, rather than just high nutrient content which may be better suited for other animals. :)
Yes, sure, cyber...I like to soak and cook up a pot of beans on weekends...but in case you can't, the EDEN brand beans are great! And those POMI tomatoes are just da bomb!!!! No BPA to worry about!
Also measure out and sock my rice 🍚 into a pan and cover it with water and soak for a few hours. Drain the old water and put in new. Cook. It take half the time to cook and makes it fluffy xx
This is good for those who cannot cook or do not want to cook. I prefer to get my vegetables especially beans cooked myself so there is low or no sodium. I just can't afford beans at $3 a can.
Refined flour products (processed foods) are culprit. Whole grains, oats and brown rice have lots of fiber and help to maintain weight. The problem is a lot of products are labeled to fool people, and most people cannot identify true whole grain products (i.e. bread). Plus, some products like poptarts and tortilla chips may contain whole grains, but also contain a lot of not so healthy stuff.
This is God speaking, I want all you people to stop bickering, eat any damn thing you want but eat plant-based whole foods if you want to live as long and happy as I intended you to live. And get along with and be tollerant of each other...up to a point. Then go to war if you really must. Love, Allah, Yaweh and the 3 Ghosts
Real food is also fast food. Just boiled a few minutes in a pressure cooker. Not a single thing in this video from the fruit and vegetable aisle. Also salt isn't evil, we actually need some.
@@candimay4404 Where do you faddists get your nonsense from. All cultures have always used salt. The salt is bad idea lead to a lot of health problems in people which lead to a lot of doctors revising their ideas.

Novick's info on nutrition is better than any I've seen as he backs up everything he says with credible studies. He references many peer-reviewed studies unlike dr.graham and the rest of the "raw" vegan promoters who make many claims with zero facts to back them.
Many people turn away from the idea of being vegan because they cannot imagine surviving off rabbit food for the rest of their lives, or they don't have the time to eat anything else but McDonald's. I think he's trying to encourage these people that healthier options are available at their nearest grocery store without having to drive a mile to the farmer's market, and cooking healthier foods takes no more time than ordering a Big Mac.
I wanted to see how much the Fast Food DVD costs but the above link no longer works. It would be great if we could purchase and watch the video online.

don't drop raisins on the floor. they are the worst poison for you dog--even worse than chocolate. causes kidney failure quickly. if your dog consumes raisins or grapes, make them vomit immediately. put a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide in a few ounces of water and pour it down his mouth. he'll vomit the raisins whole in five minutes or so. lifesaving tip for the day.

Great earthquake preparedness foods. Wouldn't want to put this stuff in my body on a daily basis. I guess there are all levels of health??? Leave the grains for the birds and candida lovers. Helpful tips for someone transitioning out of a SAD diet.
who said they were horrible? and I know all that. potatoes are one of the most nutritious foods a human can eat, in fact we can live on sweet potatoes and water. i eat potatoes every day.
I have a question? Any video or article you could recommend me about the nutritional value of frozen vegetables? They are cheap and great for losing weight, but I would still like to know about their micronutrients.
+Amelia Robbins They are often better nutrient profile than fresh because they are blanched and frozen quickly after picking, whereas many fresh veggies are traveling pretty far to get to the stores so they could lose nutrients. The takeaway from Novick is to eat as many vegetables as possible that aren't filled with sugar, salt or fat. So if that means eating frozen for you -- because it's easier or cheaper or both - then do it. I often eat an entire bag of frozen mixed veggies for a meal. I'll microwave a bag of blend veggies, like cauli, broccoli, and carrots with a little brown rice or a handful of beans, and that's my meal. Delicious and no fat or sodium and takes about 10-15 minutes from start to finish. How is that bad? Stop nitpicking about frozen, canned, plastic, or whatever. If you're eating meat, oil, and processed foods, you already have a bigger problem than "frozen v. fresh" veggies. I think a lot of the criticism is coming from meateaters who just don't want to give up their nasty habits of eating fat and meat.
