Crochet hooks have a hook at one end, knitting needles have a head like a pin. Gorgeous!
❤
Oh HOLY COW!!!!! that's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!......I have lots of KNITTING Needles...another great idea Johnny!!!!!!
You’re the best!
I’ve been pouring for about 6 months and decided to give it up.
I watched hundreds of videos and spent hundreds of dollars. I get frustrated with my lack of success and the awful mess and the endless cleanup 🤪
After watching your videos , I am motivated to keep going. I took lots of notes from your videos ….so Thanks and I’ll keep going.
Winnie
Wow 😍😍😍 so beautiful!! And the end result was incredible..the cells almost looked like they had this glow around them! Absolutely stunning thanks for sharing!
I love your enthusiasm! And, Thanks for the free download for guidance! It's been so fun! And sorely needed❤❤❤
I had so hoped it would dry exactly like you left it. The transparency of the colors was fabulous.
I hoped so too, chameleon cells can be finicky. They expanded a lot more than I thought they would
Gorgeous and the colors are also.
Glad you’re enjoying Arizona.. Loved it when I was there ✌️💚
Love love love 😍
Gorgeous!!❤
OMG what a beautiful result. The subtleness of it the movement of it. The cells cutting thru it. Just absolutely gorgeous 🥰 love it !!😊
Gorgeous! I love the chameleon cells that you do. I’ve tried it with the same premixed paints you’ve used in the past, but my paints dry so quickly that I probably need to add a little water. Regardless, I’ve had more success than I did before watching your videos!
Thanks for doing this. I am getting better and better but still not this good. My cells NEVER get this big! It looks more like you stretched it rather than just let them grow. I’m gonna get there I’m determined!😊
I have never done it but maybe you need to add more coconut oil on your dip stick
Amazing ❤. Thank you for sharing.
I could stare at that artwork for hours. It is simply stunning!
Very cool and pretty
Beautiful ❤
Love it too...😊
Fantastic
So unique ❤
Absolutely gorgeous ❤😊
It's gorgeous, love those cells😍💙
That's gorgeous! So glad you're enjoying AZ.
Loved it before the cells... Loved it with the cells too!
This is soooo cool. Some of the cells have entire galaxies in them. ❤❤❤❤
Truly beautiful. I'm going to try this technique very soon ❤
That is a really cool effect ❤
love this! thanks for showing us the knitting needle method, and all the chameleon cell tips! gorgeous work!
I would love to see one of those cells covering an entire canvas because inside them is absolutely stunning. I can only imagine you would need an eyedropper of silicon to open one up that large?
Fantastic. It's really good to hear a sense of calm and happiness in your tone and presentation.
Your work is remarkable and wonderful, I very much enjoy watching!
First, this piece is gorgeous! Second I am happy to see you posting everyday! Third I am glad you are happy where you are! Fourth it is knitting needle, not a crochet hook!
I haven't seen a knitting needled since my mom died.
I agree - the halos around those cells are heavenly.
Yes and by the way that looks super with the sales in it that I wasn't too impressed before you start put the cells but that was kind of cool
Cells
Absolutely gorgeous! I’ve never seen this technique before but I love it! I just recently came across your channel and I’m pumped up and ready to get back to painting after a forced break while hospitalized for 4 months. So happy to be home, healthy and energized! Thanks for sharing your awesome creations with us! ❤❤
Amazing art Johnny 😊
I love the bigger and more vibrant cells!
It's a beautiful piece. ❤
Your humidity is something else 😳. If you were thinking of building a drying cabinet/space on this chanel I would totally watch that! 😊
Ooh must try this! The coconut milk hair serum was hard to find in Tauranga, NZ. And that's a cable needle used when knitting cables
Beautiful, JMo! It has to be because your paint is thicker in the middle, but the fact that it was and you had no cracking shows me just how far I have to go, my friend! Yours turned out perfectly and the edges do not detract from that! Thanks for sharing!!
Sehr sehr schön 🎉 I Love it 👏👏👏☺️
Stunning. You make I lok so easy but its not. I bought some of the coconut milk and have loads knitting needles. I've yet to a flip cup but I will give it a go. Thank you for your fab vids.
Love pouring...it's so therapeutic! I would love to see lacing layered! Dry between layers...curious?
Knitting needle , thrift stores always has them which are always cheaper btw and there are all kinds of sizes for you to experiment with ! JS
Yeah that's a knitting needle, not a crochet hook. BEAUTIFUL piece!! I'm not usually a big fan of covering a piece in these kind of cells...but this one has just enough. They really grew though...but I think your drying surface might not have been level, because it moved an awful lot...that could also be where that beveling is coming from also...cuz your paint is slowly moving as it dries. Definitely check to level the drying surface. And make sure you're scraping the drips all the way around the bottom edge...then wait 10minutes...then do it again...wait another 10 minutes...and one more time (that's a Kanella trick)...cuz those drips will pull the paint down off the canvas making it move. 😊
It almost looks like lips across the centre - new pour - the Chameleon Kiss! 😂
A sosatie stick will also work well in stead of knitting needle.
I so want to try this! My mind is going towards a pattern, like dragonfly wings or a turtle shell!
Hi! OMG! That's definitely the most astonishing chameleon cells composition I've seen! Wow!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️💥💥💥💥💥💥I wish they would not be so greedy tho eating up the other parts😅
My question from here-UK: can you get these results with liquitex pouring medium???? Would you add any water to it to thin it down??? Huge thanks in advance 😊
I kinda like the beveled edge on the painting. And maybe it's just me but it makes it look 3D
Thank you so much!!
Need to try this. Been doing this on/off (more off) for about 2 years and really need to just try and learn how to mix my own paints. Just got your information, thank you! And will start there.
Was the one paint pouring person you met, The Pour Hippy (don't want to say his real name)? He's very cool! Did a couple of pour and sip classes with him. Need to find a new place that does them so I can learn more
Wasn't sure I'd like it because the pour was so pretty itself.
This was crazy...I did this the other day and it didn't work out at all ...then I realized the pouringmed. Was the bloom recipe....I got no not ine
Chameleon cell ..I was so upset....hey welcome to Tucson...maybe you will plan a 1 day seminar here sometime.. welcome to our state...
Hi, what a wonderful out come.
Can you put resin on top of the the painting with the coconut oil in the paint ?
Beautiful colors of the cells, hope you don't mind me telling you that it is a different result from those previous to your work. Maybe that needle is too thick. You made cells with tooth sticks a lot thinner at the end of it. But it's beautiful anyway!
Wow, what are you dipping the knitting needle in?
Cool! … Why are you using Artist Loft pouring medium instead of Floetrol? Is it worth it, since it costs more? Thanks for responding!
Where did you get the black tub you’re doing the painting in please?? The one you catch all the paint drips/skins xxx
Can you blend resin with the paint before pouring?
What tub/tray are you using to keep your paint splatters from going everywhere.
Really nice painting. I have a question about the chameleon cells.... is it possible to impregnate the painting with gloss varnish after using the coconut oil? 10:25
To add a top coat? If that’s what you are asking, then yes. You need to wipe the canvas down many times with soap and water using several paper towels. If any silicone is left, it won’t turn out right. Hope that answered the question as I wasn’t sure exactly what you were asking
Yes, absolutely. A thourough cleaning just like silicone and you can varnish it

I cannot find anything on Google that says knitting needle coconut oil syrum.
I use “OGX Coconut oil hair serum” it’s a hair product at most stores like Target and Walmart
You were using a Knitting needle not a crochet needle
So what did you use to make the cells was it the coconut
I use “OGX Coconut oil hair serum” it’s a hair product at most stores like Target and Walmart
Can you use regular paint
I don't understand how you get such perfect cells. What in the world. Would you possibly disclose the EXACT recipe and steps that you do to get them. I have diligently watched all your Chameleon cell videos and I can't seem to get it.
hi, could you use baby oil instead of the coconut hair serum?
Where did u get the tub from?
Can you do something like this without spinning? I'm going to teach a class in November on dragon cells and I'd love to see a great melding of colors without having to spin. I cannot afford to buy spinners for 10 students.
Okay, crochet needle I get ... but what size?
There are at least a dozen or more crochet needle sizes.
The final dry looks like pregnant women. 😮 Beautiful! Has something happened you haven't told us? ❤😊
Can this look be achieved with just silicone oil?
Will coconut oil do the same ?
I think that what he used
I use “OGX Coconut oil hair serum” it’s a hair product at most stores like Target and Walmart
Sehr schön geworden. Bei mir hat das mit den Bubbles leider nicht geklappt.
Hello J Mo. I have bought the exact same brand of coconut oil serum, as you use, and absolut nothing happens - what do I do wrong - I would love to make those beautifull cells. Love fra Emilie; Denmark
Let’s figure it out, are you using artist loft pouring medium? What brand of paints? And what ratios do you mix them?
@@JMoPainting great to har from you ❤️ for the base I use satin housepaint base 3 😊 for My coulors I use Amsterdam. I mix up My paint with 1 part paint, 3 parts of floetroll - here in europe/Denmark it's called owatroll - and 1 part water depending of the thicknes of the colour - Amsterdam is quit thick. And after tilting I have used a toothpick and did what I saw you did, but nothing happend? And now I have you here - when you put the coconut milk serum in the paint for cells, how much do you use i 100 ml mix of paint? Best wishes to you from Emilie
Okay Emilie, let’s try to figure this out! I have never used Owatrol so I’m not sure about how it reacts with the paints. It is the consistency of paints that helps make chameleon cells like in this video. I go by a trace to get my consistency. Zero second trace is when the paints are mixed and drop off the stick they leave a mound for zero seconds before disappearing back to a flat surface. 1 second is the same as it leaves a mound for 1 second and so on. My chameleon cell mix is about zero to a one second trace. I’m thinking your paints are still too thick to allow the silicone to push through them. As far as flip cups and open cup pours I add 1-2 drops of my coconut oil hair serum per 3 oz cup of color. I hope that helps you!!
@@JMoPainting Thank you so much 😊 now I have some facts and will try again 😊 I will let you know how it came out 🌹🌹❤️
You're welcome! I look forward to hearing about your results!
That's a netting needle, and they come in all sizes
What brand of coconut oil serum do you use?
Ogx
TY. There are at least 6 different kinds of OGX. Which one is he using?@@kayedwards
@@chriswynes316 your question was to JMo not me, I just replied to help you but he actually shows you the bottle 🤷🏼♀️
I use “OGX Coconut oil hair serum” it’s a hair product at most stores like Target and Walmart. Its the anti breakage serum
Hun, that's a knitting needle. (That's probably only been mentioned a billion times by now). Meanwhile, LOVE your style!!
P.S. that’s a knitting needle not a crochet hook xxx
Knitting needle - it's a knitting needle. Crochet is a "hook".
I have been trying to do this but I get nothing? You make it look so easy. I get no cells from it.
What pouring medium are you using? If there is glue involved that makes it really hard for cells to push through. If you can try to get your hands on artists lift pouring medium! It’s like magic!!
I will try that. I've been phasing out my glue anyway.
Sorry knitting needle
Maybe your canvas is too loose causing the edges to be higher. Your edges might work out better on a cradled board rather then a canvas. Beautiful results none-the-less!
Knitting needle 😅
That's a knitting needle
