  • I am excited to share with you my new Gerald Albright Signature Series Alto Saxophone from Cannonball. This video shows me unboxing it and doing a quick play test for the first time. It's a beautiful horn and when I played it I found it extremely responsive and free blowing. I can't wait to use this instrument in the future!! What's your opinion of the sax?!
    Click here to see my Cannonball curved soprano saxophone unboxing: • NEW Cannonball CURVED ...
    From the Cannonball Website:
    "The Gerald Albright Signature Pro Series saxophones take the Big Bell Stone Series to another level. In collaboration with Gerald Albright, we designed the elaborate hand-engraving that adorns each saxophone with a strikingly elegant look. The black Italian pads complete the look of these saxophones, and embody the soul of the master, Gerald Albright, himself."

    My school had one of these for us saxophones to try out as a “step-up” horn. EVERYONE fought over it, however i was lucky enough to play it for one day, and ohhh my goodness it is THE BEST! It’s almost as if you can feel every note you play, the sound is so smooth, just an amazing horn in general, if you are thinking about getting one, GET ONE!

    • @hades.97
      @hades.97 2 года назад

      bruh looking back on this, I remember our school had the tenor variant of this, and I was the lucky bastard who got to try it out. NGL if i had the cash for this, I would get it.

    I would do a lot of things for a cannonball sax. Everyone here is just like "Yo, I just got a new Cannonball Alto Sax! It's so amazing." And I'm just here like "I think my Chinese Alto is okay."

      Lol thanks. Also how do you set up your mic with your sax? I have a Samson C01U or however you spell it and if you were to hear me play irl you hear I have good tone and strong high notes and low notes. But when I record into the mic and play it back, it sounds like a little kid is playing.

    Whether or not cannonball make good saxophones I don't know (never played one), but I'm calling bs on the fact that the material for the touches changes the tone!

      they never said that it changes the sound, but that it changes the resonance.

    • @GardensoftheAncientsHerbal
      @GardensoftheAncientsHerbal 4 года назад +3

      Changes the overall tone a lil and fine characteristics. Stuff people hear but don't know why. My silver plated horn just always has a shrilly tone. My brass horns always sound warm unless forced. It's subtle but if you don't play enough to notice you'll never notice, but i tell ya whay the build from cannonball is very good. Finally after 7 years I had to do a minor screw tightening and that is it!

    It looks only a little different from the Cannonball I have sitting here next to my desk. I don't have the silver plate down the body. Make sure you take care of that lacquer so it stays nice and shiny!

    • @KrisVComm

      It’s not just bright...it’s Albright. Ba dum dum...ching! It’s a beautiful horn and no doubt well made. It does have a little bit of kazoo meets plastic toy horn but it’s easier to cut highs with a dark mouthpiece than to try and brighten an overly dark horn. Cannonball have come a long way from their old tanks they used to make. Good enough for Ernie Watts...good enough for me. Although, I play a silver WoodStone

    I have to say, I have been playing the saxophone since 1975. My first horn was a Bundy Alto. In 1976 my parents purchased a "Selmer Mark VI" Tenor Sax for me when I made Senior Band. I have to say, that my Cannonball Stone Series Tenor sounds just as good, if not better, than my Mark VI. These horns are fabulous! I hate all the haters out there who continue to put these sax's down.

    • @BriansThing

  • @RonHendon

    I have a raven Soprano , alto and tenor . I put down my Selmer Paris Mark Vi for a cannonball. Best saxes I’ve ever played period. I’m a professional player and for Rock, funk, pop it’s the best there bar none ! I do still use my ase my Selmer Paris set of saxes for Classical as my Selmers Have a darker more centered softer focused sound which is a bit better for Classical . But for Rock music, Jazz, Blues , pop fusion it’s Cannonball all the way. You can get so loud down and dirty I’ve had people say they like the sax even better for death metal solos than guitar 👍

      The Gerald Albright is an awesome horn. Altissimo really pops. It's a brighter horn. The Black Ruby is a little darker and smoother across all the notes. You can also push it too in the altissimo. I love both horns. My buddy Gabriel Bello plays a Black Ruby alto. You can probably message him on Instagram and get his opinion too!

    D?... Does the fat neck make for a lower tone? I'm kind of intermediate, and right now I'm working with a Selmer SAS280, Vandoren V-16 mouthpiece. Is there such a thing as a fat neck for a Selmer? Nice work!

    • @ryanvelten6937
      @ryanvelten6937 8 лет назад

      The different bore sizes of sax necks can change how the sax feels to you and maybe a little difference in sound, but mainly how it feels. I'm not sure about selmer, but Yamaha has loads of different necks (lacquering, bore size, etc)

    • @ryanvelten6937
      @ryanvelten6937 8 лет назад

      Sorry to say this about Brian, but most of the things he said about the sax is purely cosmetic and doesn't effect your tone or the way the sax sounds, they're just marketing scams... the sax and mouthpiece you currently have are great! There isn't a need to change your setup, trust me.

      Beautiful horn. Cannonball still needs a few adjustments, but overall, I have played their soprano and alto and they have AMAZING sound. I think they will soon rival companies like Selmer and Yamaha.

    I play saxophone and I reccomend trying out the selmer AS42 Alto Sax. It has the same key placement as a mark vi, and it sounds really good. I recommend the silver plated version.

      Definitely buy from a dealer instead of on ebay.
