Hey man, I liked your video! Your pretty funny! I've done a few tattoos, mostly black and gray. Never used white in the gray wash. What does the white do exactly ?
@@dravenheart2444 bro that black hat your wearing in the video is the exact D from the Team Daiwa Fishing reel maker from Japan ! Daiwa Amd shimano are the two most popular brands in the world !! That’s a Daiwa hat !!
I find mixing solution breaks down the pigment a lot better and gives a smoother less red finish. If ya doing smaller trad pieces and just whipping out black with a little bit of black shade water is fine . But on the bigger jobs I like to use mixing solution for a better finish where there a bigger blends :)
Yeah use a different white I found intense Snow White really good but it dries super fast or world famous white to be good. Dynamic white is super runny and doesn’t saturate well I had the same problem
Thanks for the info, I heard grey wash under half to 25% falls out of the skin. Is that true? I mean it can’t be if you’re still using the lighter cups shown on this video. Also if you don’t fill the caps completely full of water then it won’t overflow when you add white ;) hahaa
100 percent not true. If it’s tattooed right it will stay :) just gotta find a mix that works for you and your own style this might work might not. Can always tweet this one also if it’s a little light for ya liking
Takes the redness out water doesn’t dilute the ink properly it’s ok for small trad tatts but for bigger blends and smoother transitions I like to use mixing solution
I know mixing solution would be smoother, but is water a good substitute if you're poor? Aha. Also I've always just shaded with straight black and whipped it out gently to get the smooth effect I wanted. Is that a good way to do it? Haha
You can use straight water but some people don’t as it can make it a little red and tap water has contaminants, so probably better using distilled water . I would recommend using mixing solution it works heaps better . Way smoother easy to apply , and they have the ingredients usually of witch hazel , glycerine and some alcohol which actually breaks up the black ink more so it’ll apply easier and smooth. So yeah if ya want bigger and smoother blends and ease of use I’d go mixing solution. If ya happy with how your work is and that I would just keep doing what ya doing there’s no right or wrong just recommendations :)
Great job man, your tips are so useful, thanks a lot for the videos. I follow you on Instagram, please show us how you take the photos of your tattoos ,insane quality, so clean
I never usually have spill anything was just because I was filming it had to happen I like to put the white in last so it mixes better other wise it can just sit at the bottom and when ya get to the end of ya peice the grey wash is different tone cuz the white didn’t mix well :)
how do I relate the different shades of gray with the differences in size (small/medium/large) of the caps, for example if I have to make a dark gray in a 17mm cap, but then I happen to make the same dark gray but in a 14mm cap, how do I do it? obviously the drops of black will not be the same, because the size of the cap changes. I'm probably stupid, but it's a question I've been asking myself for quite a while. thank you very much if you want to answer me
Nah I get exactly what you mean honestly I’ve never really thought to much about it cuz I only use the caps featured in the video I can’t be bothered using different sizes if it’s a big job I’ll just use two lots of the same mix instead of using bigger cups. But technically I’d still use the same method on different size caps 3/4 black 1/2 black , quarter black , then less then quarter black. Then when I’m tattooing I’d start using my lightest tone see how it comes out and how much I need to build it up then adjust from there. 90 percent of the time in most of my grey wash pieces on only really use black , and mostly the mid tone. Just build up my mid tone and make sure to whip it out smooth the other tones are just there if I need them really. You can do most pieces with a black and a mid tone just focus on technique , whipping and blending :)
I use both methods depends if I can be bothered mixing or not. I do use premade sets . Preferably the world famous one but most premades are pretty light so I end up mixing more black into them anyway. Just gotta find a set that works for you :)
@@dravenheart2444 stuck in China at the moment, a bit leery of legit ink, got lucky with a solid vendor of dynamic, they have a pre mix set from Dr. Tattoo . I might give it a go. Thanks
Yo, about stretching the skin, do I stretch the hell out of the skin or a gentle stretch, I powerlift and my hand strength is pretty decent so I’m worried I might stretch it too much. All the vids I watched said to stretch it really good but I’m not sure if they’re taking into account for an individual persons hand strength
Ok. Vid started very good.. You said its complicated in other vids. And you started to make chaos... Missing was kinda funny but like 2 times. Better to cut it out Id like to see after each set how you use em and what shade you get. Now i know i have some mixed ink and have no idea what it will look like....
Thanks for the feed back I use this mix for most of greywash pieces more so realism as it’s softer and blends better. But even with the mix each person styles vary and the outcome maybe differnt so I suggest use this as a base if ya like it use it . Or tweek it from there . Also apologise about the chaos I’ve only made 5 videos so still learning the whole RUclips thing haha

Pratically you use white just for redness and for applying black easier..
Not for making a grey tone is it correct?
Pretty much mate just takes out the redness and makes it smoother to apply :)

@@dravenheart2444 nice, I didn’t know that. Thank you. I’ll have to get some and try it out
What's the reason you would add more white drops to the darker tone ones?
Makes the tones smoother and easier to put in . Less black pigment requires less white to make it smoother :)
@@dravenheart2444 Thanks for the response!
I’m confused aren’t you supposed to add more white to the less black instead of the darker tone? I feel like you added the white backwards
Nah not at all I’m not going for the opaque look it’s just to soften the tones and take out redness when tattooing.
I know mixing solution would be smoother, but is water a good substitute if you're poor? Aha. Also I've always just shaded with straight black and whipped it out gently to get the smooth effect I wanted. Is that a good way to do it? Haha

What effect does it give off when you add white to your grey wash
Takes the redness out , makes it smoother to apply . It’s basically a cheat code for black and grey haha
