I agree with your advice. As a 64 year old woman, I do not want to look like other women. I prefer style with my own spin. Who wants to attend a function and see someone else with your same dress or earrings or whatever. You look stunning. Love the hair, eyebrows and minimal make up. Your skin is glowing. Happy Holidays.
Totally agree! I stopped caring about what people think years ago. I ware what makes me happy. I’m always the most dressed/ overdressed everywhere I go and it makes me happy❣️❣️
Lol, I get asked all the time “where are you going? You are dressed up”. Here, I’m going right here, I just chose to look good even when I’m not going anywhere special!
Wow, black really suits you. You look radiant in this video! I am that person who overdresses for every outing, even grocery store. It's amazing how many people speak to me and more who smile. For so many years I dressed to be Not Seen. I value your channel so much as I am at last striding out of my shell!
Attitude toward clothes? Art or utilitarian? Clothes are an expression of my personality and I am wearing art. The first big tech company I worked for as a consultant was one of 2 largest in US. We were required to dress one level above our client. Dress for the position you want to be promoted to. Also, my Mom was always a fashionable dresser even though we had little money. In my personal life I still dress one level above every body else- it says my appearance is important to me and I took the time to show up!
So true about making the mistake of saving best dressy pieces for only special occasions. I always “over-dress” because I want to feel my best everyday no matter what I’m up to or where I’m going.
I one hundred percent agree with you Anna! I was a single parent for 18 years and for 18 years I rarely was able to buy myself clothing. I was embarrassed everywhere I went because I was dressed in old clothing. I had one pair of black shoes and my work shoes. Since then and I am in my 60s now, I have evolved my style. I want to feel my best no matter where I am. Which often ends up with me being slightly better dressed than the average person. But I’m OK with that, especially at my age where you have to try a little harder. Thank you Anna you always make me smile ❤ Hope your Thanksgiving is full of blessings 🦃 🍁 🍂
I agree with you 100% try to treat every day as though was your last day ,and you will put yourself together. I use all my nice things because I’m 68 years old and I’ve had a lot of health issues that has kept me at home .I get up every day and put myself together as if I were going out, I know it sounds weird, but it makes me feel better even though no one sees me…😮🇺🇸
Of course!! It’s actually tough to find mature women who post pictures of themselves in clothes on the internet. I’m always open to suggestions if you find any instagrammers who you like! ❤️❤️❤️
I agree with all of your points in this video, especially taking care with style every day. In fact, after months of watching RUclips and focusing on my own style, I committed to looking elevated every day -- meaning carefully planned and executed. Thank you for giving all of us "permission" to look great regardless of the day.
Such great advice! Funny seeing all the trends lately resurfacing from my teens & 20s then it being renamed! Quiet luxury has never went out of style - those were preppy classics from the 80s and 90s-button up oxfords, trench coats, polos and blazers.
Your channel recently came up on my algorithms. At night I watch a lot of RUclipsrs regarding fashion, and I would have to say you are my absolute favorite. You have wonderful realistic advice. And this is in response to a different video than this one, but you saying how stylish women get dressed every day is so true. It is good for ourselves and good for our psyche to get dressed. It’s a proven fact. Personally over the years on days where it is cloudy and rainy is when I usually dress up the most because it makes a day that can be kind of so much better.
I saved my expensive aloe infused linen pants for a special occasion so I wouldn't ruin them, I outgrew them after wearing them 2 times. I fit them again, now wear them as "house pants" because they are my most comfortable and I have no special occasions.
I’m having an Anna video morning. Going to lunch (live in Fl.) wearing an outfit in colors you suggested. Camel, navy, white. Shopped my closet. Looks good. Thanks, Anna.
I happen to love maxi skirts (and dresses) and was so pleased to be able to get a black denim one that looks great for work. But other trends are not for me. Many other trends are not for me, so I pass
Fantastic video, so many great tips in one place. I love your videos that help me put together the clothing I already have. I’ve also achieved a style level up by arranging my closet by color / tone.
I've loved fashion since I was 3 years old. I was always putting together outfits when I was a kid and figuring out why something didn't look quite right on myself or everyone else. The most common problem, the garment wasn't cut for your height or shape so a little tailoring is needed. I am short, so I often needed hemming. I am constantly looking around at women's outfits every where I go - for ideas on how to put together a great outfit! Occasionally I tell a woman she looks great today. Not too often because it creeps them out.😆
It’s really all about the accessories. I prefer to wear a muted color palette with fairly simple clothes, but I wear some pretty amazing accessories. Great jewelry, a fabulous handbag, cute shoes make it special.
I have seen a few of your videos and you were wondering about your delivery of the information and opinions that you share with us. You’re seriously my absolute favorite style and fashion mentor. You just seem so real and down to earth. Our personalities are very similar; so, you are able to reach me on a level that other style and fashion commentators can’t really even get close to with me. Thank you for sharing what share and your way of sharing it. I’ve actually been binge watching to get caught up and I think you’re fabulous.
Great advise. I have always been an independent thinker when it comes to my clothing and accessories. Yes I follow what is trending and look in my closet to see if I have something similar or if I really love a piece I will buy it. I have to say I have a collection of accessories, jackets, blazers, and toppers that I have curated over many years and love them. Nothing like a great white shirt! Do you have an item of clothing that you are loving? Love your no nonsense but kind delivery and volume of content in your videos.
I only buy what I love! I have things from twenty years ago, but I always update the look with shoes!! Shoes always make the outfit look current. I love fashion and would never criticize anyone as everyone has their own style.
Great personal style is just that….personal. I’m 52, and I work on a military base, surrounded by the majority being uniform wearers. I’m a civilian, with a professional meets casual type of dress code. Very fortunate to decide for myself what to wear. It’s quite liberating to be free to be myself.
I can't say that I am super stylish, but I do have a low-key style that others notice. And, it is so true that I don't judge what others wear (except when I see someone whose style I can be inspired by or admire). Style to me is just something I tend to naturally be drawn to, in the same way that someone else might enjoy another facet or expression of life, and it just doesn't feel like a competition or that we all need to conform to any way of being.
On what stylish (classy) people don't do: I've learned that what other people wear is mostly in the category of "things I don't need to worry about." You do talk a lot about trends, but what it feels to me like what you're talking about is how to develop personal style, and what colors, shapes, and proportions can work together to look good and feel great.
I love this! Yes to that category! lol Yes trends are so fun (to me anyway) and a great way to discover what you like and don't like but to run out and buy an item solely because it is "trending" would NOT be what I would recommend! 😃
I love your hair and makeup in this video. You look so young and gorgeous. You always look pretty. However, I feel like bright red lipstick ages everyone. You legit look like you are in your 20’s here. Absolutely stunning!
Thanks Anna I really enjoyed this video. I've always been a person who wore what made me happy and I feel looked attractive on me. But yes I have been criticized for things I wore, my make-up my hairstyle, jewelry and this happens every day on many jobs I've had and sometimes ask why do you have to dress up everyday 😢 When I thought I had the right to be myself . There was never anything outrageous or disrespectful to me it's just regular. Now that I'm older I couldn't care less about what others think or say I just do what makes me feel good. So thanks for helping me feel even more confident.I do always enjoy your videos.❤
Aw, Rita I hate that you got criticized over what you wore! As I said in an earlier comment, people’s judgements and criticisms has everything to do with their own insecurities. Keep being you ❤️❤️
Before I retired, the overwhelming majority of my clothing budget went for work outfits. In my line of work, it was a necessity to look professional all the time. So I spent money on hair, makeup and clothing. As a contractor, I had to make an impression and was often called out on interviews directly from a job. You didn't know who you were going to meet or when you were called in to discuss a project. I did not wear edgy clothes. Rather they were business professional and of high quality.
Unrelated to the video topic- but Anna, I am really loving your hairstyle! It looks really fun, natural w/o being overly undone or messy-looking, and very youthful! 😁
Anna, you look so much younger and frankly much more beautiful w/ less makeup! Someone told me that when I was 30, and it was the best, and chicest advice I have been given, make up just made me older; I am in my 50's!! Of course this is just my data point :).
Looks like a cuban chain. Many varieties of these are sold on Etsy, and Amazon has some that look good but are super lightweight and will probably only last as long as this trend is hot.
Loved this video....all of these Habits are so true. I think of my clothes as wearing art and always look leveled up. You look gorgeous in this video, so beautiful. Thank you for the tips as always.
Another great video, Anna. Accessories are my new thing, and what a difference they make!! I look 100% more pulled together with delicate necklace from my favorite outlet.
I wear clothes that make me look and feel amazing. I don't follow style "rules" and trends. I don't worry about what others think of my clothing selections. I only shop local and support women owned businesses. The same goes for my hair (very short faded pixie cut), and footwear (I wear stylish and comfortable chelsea boots).
Your skin & makeup look great‼️I have seen improvement in your last few videos. Good for you. Your videos are fun with useful info. You are lovely! Would kill for your figure😊
Anna what color lipstick are you wearing, Is so pretty I noticed it on one of your last video too . ❤your videos and glad every time I get notifications when you download a new one.
Anna. I’ve watched many of your videos and this is my very favorite one. You gave such great advice to think about. I’m a young Gigi and have my grandson on the weekends. we do lots of kid stuff and I find myself struggling to look well put together for those outings. I simply need to buy some clothing for them I’d really never thought about taking time and using money for an everyday look..same goes for the grocery store.
Wow WOW Ms Reid! I LOVE your cut! I’m sorry if I missed your bob from previous videos. That together with that off the shoulder sweater🤩 Fantastic!! This video is really smart and spot on👍🏾👍🏾
As a teen I always wore what I liked, that eventually evolved into my own personal look. Be true to yourself and try be comfortable in your own skin ,that is the key to an amazing style.🫶🏼
I don't wear any athleisure clothes, too tempting to look sloppy (and overeat). My grandmas and aunties always wore fitted blouses, dresses and skirts at home (there was no stretchy lycra then, no leggings or joggers and you only wore a tracksuit at the gym. I look up to them because they always looked neat and put together and not uncomfortable either because fitted clothes prevent you from eating too much and therefore you feel comfortable wearing them the next day. We are getting way too comfortable. I get dressed every day, and feel comfortable eating and going about my daily life wearing jeans and tucking in my top.
I agree, I am caught in a habit of wearing of wearing athleisure, even at work (its acceptable there) and it's not good. It doesn't feel the same as being properly dressed, it's has a different vibe and doesn't send a message of confidence and competence. Dressing casually but more put together is my goal!
Oh ladies my amazing dermatologist has switch me to vaseline as a night cream and my skin has never been better. It's cheap and the best moisturiser on the market. I used to spend ridiculous amount on skincare like buying SK-II or LaPrairie and I've never looked back.
@gailwilliams5278 yes the good old fashion petrolium jelly. You need just a tinny little bit and only for the night it's definitely too greasy for daytime 😆 I put it all over my face!
Me Too! I wear what ever makes me feel good! ❤ lm 67 & I can Still wear my clothes from my 20 30 40 & 50s! ❤😂. 🤠🙏✝️🙏 Jennifer from Colleyville Texas. 😂
I have to admit I'm judgemental about myself but also other people and often want to say something but then bite my tongue because I do not want to embarrass anybody but simply give a lot of compliments when somebody is well dressed, but in the back of my mind I still want to give advice...e.g. a friend of mine who is very dear to me is short but loves to wear long skirts which really don't fit her and doesn't steam/iron her crumbled blouses/shirts, please women out there give me some advice how to tactfully approach this I know she is very much into being elegantly dressed and I want her to look gorgeous!!
I would say that if she doesn’t ask for your advice, don’t offer it. It could come across as critical even though you’re coming from a good place. That being said, you could ask her to come shopping with you and then pick out something for her to try that you think will look better. And stop being judgmental of yourself! 😄 Every morning compliment yourself as you would your best friend ❤️❤️
I know a very nice looking woman ( in her 50’s) who has nearly removed her eyebrows. Must be her nervous self-grooming thing she does- her eyebrows now start nearly over her pupils. She would be so much prettier with normal eyebrows, but I’m never going to tell her. I would like to though…
@@Lindaastewart7015 I don’t know why this made me laugh but thank you 🤣🤣 I think you’re right - don’t say anything. Also what if her response was that they fell out on their own and it was a huge insecurity for her…you just never know what people are going through ❤️
I think you can absolutely wear comfortable clothes and be stylish. I'm not talking athleasure here but if your clothes fit you, in size and in cut, and the fabric is of good quality, you will be comfortable. Unfortunately the ready to wear industry has brainwashed women into think our bodies (and feet!) have to fit the clothes when it should be the other way around! Even high heels can be comfortable if they fit your feet, offer proper support and weight distribution and are stable.
Wearing a fuzzy trench coat with no bra is not a fashion risk I’m willing to take 😂 but I promise to wear something a little odd, let’s end 2023 how it deserves 🎉 off centered, can’t put your finger on it, but full of fun surprises if you look! Peace and joy everyone! 💜✌️
I get what ti you're saying about not putting away items for a special occasion, but the people in the relatively small ty own where I lo I've simply don't know or care how to dress. If there were even a few people in the nice dress zone, I'd put more effort in, but why bother? I save my more nice things for when I know I'll be around people who know and care how to dress, and I don't see myself changing from that simply for fleeting 'feel good' emotions. It gets so depressing being around these know-nothings all the time. I just want to move. That is my goal.
The only time I criticize others clothes (in my head) is when someone is not dressed for the weather. Comically so. And they’re of enough means to do it. So cringey.
I bought. Louis Vuitton bag a few years ago. I carry that bag all winter long. I’m planning on getting my money out of it. I’m trying to grow my hair out. It’s not looking so great right now. Because I have been cutting it in the back myself. It was super short. It’s finally a little longer. And the back keeps sticking out, and it’s cut over my ears. So I’m cutting those places. And when the top layer grows that long I will stop. I want it all one length. And I’m 64 so I hope I have it together now. Or I never will. And if you see an older woman wearing something you don’t like. I can almost guarantee you she doesn’t care wether you like it or not. When you get to be m age. You wear what you want. And you’re wearing it for you. Not for someone else, I found wide leg jeans and I love the ones I have. They are high waisted. And I can tuck my shirt or sweater in without a lot of lumps or bumps. Women shouldn’t tear each other down. Maybe if someone wears something you don’t like. Turn your head the other way. And mind your own business. I don’t think I’m put together but I’m working on it.
I 100% believe when people criticize other people it has everything to do with their own insecurities and nothing to do with the person being criticized 😄❤️❤️
Thank you for addressing the fit in thing. always love watching your video! ❤ Back in high school I did buy a lot of stuff just to fit in. My parents are a lot older than my peers' and they liked to shop at old fashioned department stores, buying me things that were "uncool" in the eyes of teenagers. other girls were like "who wears that brand" and saying I dress like a 30 yo. So I followed what the other girls were wearing and asked my parents to take me shopping. It turned out that I really hated those "cool" clothes, and what fit those cute popular girls really didn't fit me 😅
Well, when youre a teen it's probably better to just wear what other teens wear, maybe with a few tweeks. When youre older then its natural to have your own style.
I'm way past college, but when a 40 year old mother at my daughters' school shows up to pick up her kids in a crop top and blown out skinny jeans, I do laugh to myself a tad bit. 😢😂
I did, today I wear frekin everything! Anna have you thought of creating a video “ The look for less” ? I do it all the time. My obsession right now it The ROW, I have been able to create the same look for a fraction of the cost. I love the challenge, and i dam good at it. I believe you would be as well! Think about it ❤
I agree with your advice. As a 64 year old woman, I do not want to look like other women. I prefer style with my own spin.
Your hair looks amazing!!!
Thank you, Michele! ❤️❤️
I am so happy to have found your channel 🎉 Thank you for talking some sense into my closet because I was all over the place 😂#NewSub ❤
Haha!! We have alll been all over the place with our closets so I feel you! Glad you are here! ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 🥰
I wear clothes that make me look and feel amazing. I don't follow style "rules" and trends. I don't worry about what others think of my clothing selections. I only shop local and support women owned businesses. The same goes for my hair (very short faded pixie cut), and footwear (I wear stylish and comfortable chelsea boots).
Great video as always!! Love your hair style, btw...😊
Your skin & makeup look great‼️I have seen improvement in your last few videos. Good for you. Your videos are fun with useful info. You are lovely! Would kill for your figure😊
You are too sweet, Barbara!! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 I'm truthful. 😀

Yes always holding on to stuff for a special occasion. I always envied women who always was so stylish no matter what.
Wear one of those special occasion items today, Patricia! You’ll be so happy you did ❤️❤️
Anna what color lipstick are you wearing, Is so pretty I noticed it on one of your last video too . ❤your videos and glad every time I get notifications when you download a new one.
It's actually just the lip liner in the color Soar from MAC! ❤️
@@ANNAREID29 thank you love for replying 💜
I’m enjoying your channel more and more. Thank you! ❤
Very good video! Thanks!
Love it! Thank you! 💛💛💛💛
Thanks,Anna!
❤️❤️❤️
loooooooooooooooooove your eyebrows in this video!!!! they are perfectly shaped and compliment your face and eyes!
Wow WOW Ms Reid! I LOVE your cut! I’m sorry if I missed your bob from previous videos. That together with that off the shoulder sweater🤩 Fantastic!! This video is really smart and spot on👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️
As a teen I always wore what I liked, that eventually evolved into my own personal look. Be true to yourself and try be comfortable in your own skin ,that is the key to an amazing style.🫶🏼
As a teen I felt so.... NOT confident! I wish I would have had your confidence! Love this! ❤️❤️
I really enjoy your content! ...and your look when your puppy crashes the video, so funny!!! 😆
He's about 3 feet away from me at all times 🤣
Love this video.
Idk what Anna did differently but, in this video you’re looking so young ❤️ gotta let us know your skincare routine toooo🙏🏻
Why thank you! ❤️❤️❤️ I’ve been using proven, try to stay hydrated and get adequate sleep! 😘😘😘
Love this! That's an excellent point - stretchy pants definitely make me overeat too 🤣🤣
I agree, I am caught in a habit of wearing of wearing athleisure, even at work (its acceptable there) and it's not good. It doesn't feel the same as being properly dressed, it's has a different vibe and doesn't send a message of confidence and competence. Dressing casually but more put together is my goal!
This right here! I am beyond stoked to wear my non-stretchy size 6 jeans with a tucked in shirt!!
Oh ladies my amazing dermatologist has switch me to vaseline as a night cream and my skin has never been better. It's cheap and the best moisturiser on the market. I used to spend ridiculous amount on skincare like buying SK-II or LaPrairie and I've never looked back.
Are you referring to regular old Vaseline petroleum jelly? That’s interesting! How much do you apply, daytime and/or night time?
@gailwilliams5278 yes the good old fashion petrolium jelly. You need just a tinny little bit and only for the night it's definitely too greasy for daytime 😆 I put it all over my face!
Me Too! I wear what ever makes me feel good! ❤ lm 67 & I can Still wear my clothes from my 20 30 40 & 50s! ❤😂. 🤠🙏✝️🙏 Jennifer from Colleyville Texas. 😂
Should be “love THEIR style” in case you even care enough to change it! Love all your videos!!!!❤
Oh no that's such a pet peeve of mine and I did it?!?! 🙈🙈🤣🤣 Unfortunately, can't change videos once they are uploaded 😳
I am 5’2” so a maxi skirt appears that it is wearing me. Since I am a classic dresser, trends are mostly out for me.
❤️❤️❤️
I've never had that problem of saving the good stuff for later 😂😂😂 quite the opposite!
damn, cute hair!
@@ANNAREID29 thank you very much for your nice and insightful comment, it is highly appreciated!!🙋🏻♀️
Also what if her response was that they fell out on their own and it was a huge insecurity for her…you just never know what people are going through ❤️
You look really pretty tof
Day❤❤❤
I think you can absolutely wear comfortable clothes and be stylish.
LOL wait why not?! Kidding but this is a great comment 🤣🤣
@@ANNAREID29 I can barely wear boots because Phoenix has endless summer syndrome so I don’t even need a trench! 😹
Do you a UK access code for the skincare?
It should work with the same link / code ❤️
Hi Anna, loved this video ❣️❣️❣️ Also, loved that Grover decided to make a sweet, but short appearance ❣️
lol he’s always trying to make a cameo 😄
Do a Jennifer Coolidge improve please! I think you can replicate her voice so well lol
Agreed!!!
You look lovely
Thank you so much, Anna! ❤️
Did you fill your jawline?
Thank you for addressing the fit in thing. always love watching your video! ❤
Back in high school I did buy a lot of stuff just to fit in. It turned out that I really hated those "cool" clothes, and what fit those cute popular girls really didn't fit me 😅
We’ve all been there! The joys of teenage “trying to fit in” years! Glad that’s behind us 🙌😄❤️
Well, when youre a teen it's probably better to just wear what other teens wear, maybe with a few tweeks.
Think about it ❤
Wonderful video, thank you so much for sharing! So uplifting to me ❤😊
❤
I’m very short 4 ft 10 but I love ,my long skirts with high boots
