In the hip Brooklyn neighborhood of Red Hook, single dad and record store owner Frank (Nick Offerman) is preparing to send his hard-working daughter Sam (Kiersey Clemons) off to college, while being forced to close his vintage shop. Hoping to stay connected through their shared musical passions, Frank urges Sam to turn their weekly "jam sesh" into a father-daughter live act. After their first song becomes an Internet breakout, the two embark on a journey of love, growing up and musical discovery.

Good to see Offerman is getting roles outside of the typecast.
Saw this movie yesterday and it was everything I wanted it to be. The acting was a amazing, the story showed not told, the relationship ships really pushed the boundaries of social politics, the story wasn’t too unbelievable and the ending was realistic and not stereotypical Hollywood. Ugh I could go on and on about how wonderful this was - I definitely cried a few times too. everyone should definitely watch this movie
This is one of the films that make us. These films have a pulse, a beat that takes us on a journey to places we've never been with characters who we have never met, yet we have seemingly known all of our lives.
Was lucky and saw this at SXSW in March. It's so cute and heartwarming
I caught this film at Sundance and it was one of my favorite screenings at the fest. Beautifully done and just felt good. I'm a single father who raised a beautiful girl and it really resonated with me. I will encourage seeing it. Hearts Beat Loud and Hereditary were my fave Sundance 2018 catches.

Crossroads C-137. The best aspect of film school is probably the networking with a chance of making friends with like minded people who also want to make films but film school isn't essential. Get a cheap digital camera, or an iPhone, or something and shoot. Plenty of helpful sites and video channels to check out too. We're at a great time where digital is more economical and accessible at least than it's ever been. Best of luck, I hope you get the chance to follow your passion. The world needs more people interested in creating new things.

So it's "Out" today but does any one know of any theaters showing it? There's only two showings in Houston. One 2 weeks and one 3 weeks from now
It's getting a slow rollout. NY and LA opened last weekend with additional markets added every week until it goes nationwide at the end of the month. It should open Friday June 22nd in Houston at the Landmark River Oaks Theatre and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Mason.

For my money, the movie is exceedingly juvenile; there's no other word for it. Even the dad is silly. I made it about half way through, stopped for a day, tried to go back and finish it, but ... I just couldn't. The dialog, the sentiments, and even the acting is sub-par. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd actually give it 1 or 2 stars. Two might be generous. Oh--did I mention that it can be painfully s-l-o-w at times, too?!? If you tune in, brace yourself. It's as far from stellar as one can get. ('Makes Shakespeare look like a GOD!)
