I appreciate that you took feedback from one of your previous videos requesting to have the dancers put on their shoes and dance to put everything in motion :) Your efforts do not go unnoticed!
Was just going to say... It’s often bad sound quality but this is like OMG bad and it’s really sad since a lot of people could really benefit from hearing the things properly. I just watch these videos for entertainment as I am not a dancer but wanted to try ballet when younger
Honestly once I was like two minutes into the video I didn’t really notice it anymore. These studios are probably really hard to record audio in, as there’s nothing to absorb the sound, all the surfaces are great at causing reverb which can make it challenging to clearly hear!
It’s always so interesting to see how many different kinds of shoes are out there and how much is put into the shoe by the dancer to make the shoes just right. I’m not even a dancer, but did want to try ballet when younger and have always wanted to try pointe shoes on even if I just stand flat lol Pointe shoes are just so pretty and I may even buy a pair one day just to have as home decor on a wall or shelf
Do you think you could show close ups of the shoe when they explain darning or gluing and stuff like that? I can’t tell what they mean without seeing it 😅
A teacher who was former Royal Ballet taught us her hack, to use a vegetable peeler on the sides of the shank to shave them down. Safer than an exacto knife.
Love this video! Do you have any tips or tricks for pointe shoes with very mobile ligaments in the ankles? I tend to roll my ankles on pointe often even though I strengthen them daily. Thank you!
Beautiful! Thanks! #boxcutterlol Also re: adding to or extending the vamp, I've seen some dancers insert a very wide strip of elastic right in there, same purpose/result. There's always something new to learn, and these videos are AWESOME!
All these terms never heard before: * profile * box * hard shoe * soft shoe * darning shoes * getting over * platform * pointe * shank * Quite a different world.
Love the line "Arts and Craft". Mentioned below is a good observation, sometimes the wording doesn't make sense while explaining. A close-up for these hacks would be most important.
In eleven months I get to go on pointe shoes I'm very excited because it's my dream to go on pointe shoes and I love your videos I watch them all the time 😋
Dancer05 stay pulled up, no matter what you are doing, always think about using your technique to the fullest. Also stay stacked over your shoes, new pointe dancers tend to lean backwards when on pointe. Try to lean forward more.
I also have a low profile foot! Now that I have been dancing pointe for several years and strengthened my foot and technique I want to start finding a shoe that looks aesthetically pleasing. Cause my shoe definitely kind of swallows my foot 😂
So I’m almost going to college, but I don’t see myself getting pointe shoes before I go. Can I still get my first pair as an adult? Because I love ballet, I’m semi gifted, but I am not ready for pointe yet.
Do you have any hacks for 3/4ing Russian pointes? I really like the rubins but I don't want the felt platform that comes with the Rubin radiances. Any tips would be much appreciated!
I am planning on going to The Pointe Shop sometime in November (it’s a little over an hour from where I live), but in the mean-time, can anyone verify that softer pointe shoes can injure the Achilles’ tendon ? My first pair of pointe shoes were Bloch European Balances with extra strong shanks and I felt very supported in them, but had an issue with sinking after a couple of months. Switched to Grishko Novas with medium shanks and the shoes feel too soft and my achilles hurt constantly. I did injure my left Achilles when I was teen (late 30s now), so maybe some of the pain is from that, but just wondering if anyone else has experience with this ? Should I ask for stronger shanks from now on ?
Great question. this is 100% dependent on the dancer. Sometimes the shoe is too soft, hard, tapered, wide... The individual dancer reacts differently to different types of shoes and shanks.
Omg I freaked!! My dance teacher told my class that you are coming to our studio for pointe shoe fittings!! I will be getting my first pair! My class mates were wondering if you will be bringing colored toe pads, and mesh bags!!?💕
I have 3 feet and 1 of them faces 180 degrees in the opposite direction of the other 2. It's always pain to have to buy 2 pairs instead of just 1.5 pairs because the 4th shoe never gets worn as much as the other 3. But I do keep it as a backup, which is a good thing. 🦶🏻🦶🏻🦶🏻
I've been dancing with a tapered box, it's one particular shoe, for several years off and on and they recently started putting a lot of pressure on my left pinkie toe. I tend to sink in square boxes, which bruises my big toe. Any thoughts?
If I was a dancer I swear my ocd would not let me cut up my brand new shoes like that. Obviously it needs to happen but eeeeek it makes me cringe. How do you figure out what you need to do to make your shoes comfy? I mean how does one determine one foot needs one thing and the other is totally different, I know it doesn’t look that different but it is. Do you just go through multiple shoes figuring it out?
CovynX X You go through a bunch of shoes, and it’s trial and error. If we cut down a vamp or darn or whatever, it’s usually on a dead pair of shoes and if we like it, we’ll do it to our current shoes. Often, dancers will be told “try this” or “maybe you should darn” and so that’s why they’ll try it
Ariel Burrow this is going to sound dumb but if the shoes are dead, aren’t they deemed unusable because they are too broken in? So modifications to those seems like it would still be iffy. Also thank you for explaining 😊
CovynX X It’s not dumb! So, when a pair is dead, they really can’t be ruined. So that’s a great way to find out how to darn, and how it affects your balance (even in dead shoes, you can feel a difference), etc. since they can’t be ruined, it’s a great way to figure out how much of your support is taken away.
I'm 47 and I want to start with pointe work before I learn the basics especially as I plan to go professional, I'm good at disco so I have a good grounding
What is the issue when you always have major pressure/pain on your big toe no matter the brand and everything else fits right? Can you do a video on this?
I appreciate that you took feedback from one of your previous videos requesting to have the dancers put on their shoes and dance to put everything in motion :) Your efforts do not go unnoticed!
Anna Nguyen Thanh you so much for noticing ❤️🙏
Sound quality 😖 oof!
Was just going to say... It’s often bad sound quality but this is like OMG bad and it’s really sad since a lot of people could really benefit from hearing the things properly. I just watch these videos for entertainment as I am not a dancer but wanted to try ballet when younger
Oracle Bunny yeah it was really bad 😖 the studio was echo-y and I tried to minimize the background noise. Thanks for sticking it through
Always love your videos regardless of sound quality 😍
Honestly once I was like two minutes into the video I didn’t really notice it anymore. These studios are probably really hard to record audio in, as there’s nothing to absorb the sound, all the surfaces are great at causing reverb which can make it challenging to clearly hear!
Oh god, the sound quality (or lack thereof) 😳😖
Yeah, something's way off with this one. Never like this b4.
Rey Of Light thanks for sticking it through anyway. Sorry it was so bad this time.

@@ThePointeShop that how much we love your channel. We stick with the video inspire of the sound quality.
@@shamrockgirl6595 you're the best

God, I live for that new shoe CRONCH sound :)
Pointe shoe ASMR FTW
Emily is a phenomenal dancer! So happy to see her featured!!!
A teacher who was former Royal Ballet taught us her hack, to use a vegetable peeler on the sides of the shank to shave them down. Safer than an exacto knife.
That was my teacher’s trick too! I was lethal with a peeler as much as a knife though so ended up still with my fingers covered in plasters!
I just got my first pair of pointe shoes and I get to dance In them on Monday I’m so exited 💖and I also love you videos
So happy for all your success Emily!
Love this video! Do you have any tips or tricks for pointe shoes with very mobile ligaments in the ankles? I tend to roll my ankles on pointe often even though I strengthen them daily. Thank you!
Ever since you had highlighted the fitting of Luna Montana, I've enjoyed following her.
She's great right?
@@ThePointeShop I love her

I don’t know when I’ll get to go on pointe, but I’m a little over a level away! I can’t wait and I hope you do well!😊😁
I dance en pointe for my first time this weekend and I am terrified that I am going to fall. Any tips?
Dancer05 stay pulled up, no matter what you are doing, always think about using your technique to the fullest. Also stay stacked over your shoes, new pointe dancers tend to lean backwards when on pointe. Try to lean forward more.
Use a barre if you are new to pointe!
Erin Fitzgerald thank you so much!!! Will keep that in mind!!
And if you need to, or get tired go to half pointe
My back is injured know so I might not even get to do it. 🤕😢😢
Thank you.
Love these!!!
Thank you!!
Is that size 10 crochet cotton she's using?

Grace Miller of course you can. I even fit dancers who started as an adult in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond!

@@ThePointeShop, thank you for the response. I'm definitely looking forward to getting a different pair of shoes to hopefully save the achilles. :)

ugh me too, so glad someone else struggles with this!
This used to be me but I just cut off the middle foot, you should try it sometime!
How are all the dancers so lovely 😊

Girl what's up with the sound in the video 😫
So bad. I know.
This could be very confusing for first-timers, but don’t worry! You will learn everything with time!
Kevlar gloves people! That’ll protect hands from xacto knives.
Love this, but I had to watch with no sound & captions. Oof
Can you do a darning tutorial ?
Dragonstorygirl yes :)
The Pointe Shop yay ! Totally looking forward to it ! Most of the darning tutorials out there are completely unclear for a darning beginner !
Uff the quality 😳😬😬
My bad
rip the sound quality 😭😭🤕
What a pain in the rear end to have to darn each pair. I’d pay someone to do it! Lol why don’t they make them special that way?
The sound isn’t that great
Isabella Bachtell I know I’m sorry there was so much background noise I tried to cut it out 😖
That’s ok btw I love ur vids soooo much and I’m going on pointe next year I’m so excited
I'm 47 and I want to start with pointe work before I learn the basics especially as I plan to go professional, I'm good at disco so I have a good grounding
Wouldnt a potato peeler work and be MUCH safer? I had anxiety watching her cut, your hand was so close. Don’t hurt your lovely hands!!!
She is actually creating what is called colonial knot when darning.
super cool Thanks for that tid bit
The auto 😬
Why does the quality get worse and worse everytime?
First!
Couldn’t get through this video because of the sound. Shame because I love these videos
