  • Hey Father! I have all these holy cards and objects and want to get rid of them. Can I throw them away? Our Fr. Braden from Our Saviour in Jacksonville answers that question in this week’s edition of Hey Father! If you have any question about our faith, leave a comment below, and we’ll try to include it in an upcoming edition.

I refrain from disposing religious objects if they are still fine I collect them even how old are they
But If its broken I recommend Just bury them or Give them to your local parish

What I really want to know is: Do we have a proper prayer or some kind of ritual, when we bury or burn those objects? Or we just burn and bury them, without saying anything/no prayer at all?
But If we do have the prayer/ritual for that, would you mind to share it with us. Thank you.

How can I dispose of the mass cards given to me when my husband passed away. I have kept them for 21 years. I am moving soon to a senior community and do not have a lot of storage room. I feel bad about it.

Oh Thank you! That was a great help! I have several blessed palm leaves around the house. I keep forgetting taking them to the church before Ash Wednesday… have them piled up behind pictures of Jesus and Mary. But it’s staring to become to many…

Also you don’t want to just throw holy objects in the garbage because there are some sick people out there who will use them for desecration purposes, so I always burn or bury holy objects. Thanks Father!

What about statues? It could be quite cumbersome to dig and bury old broken statues.

Do we bury them directly on the ground or inside a box or bag? I have plenty of broken rosaries and I want to bury them around the perimeter of the house but I need to know this first. Thank you!

How do you discard a broken up plastic religious statue? You certainly don't want to try to burn it nor do you want to bury it for obvious reasons.

Jesus warned that Christians should call no one on Earth Father in the spiritual sense. I cannot understand why you ignore this command.

Your comment reminds me of that song sung by protestants...
      Father Abraham had many sons
      Many sons had Father Abraham
I am one of them and so are you
So let’s all praise the Lord.
      Right arm!

@@Slit-dl6gl Abraham was not their spiritual father dingus. Jesus means in the spiritual sense.
Why did Jesus command not to call anyone on Earth father, was he spouting hot air. Think more carefully
